In the event a malfunction of the SRS is indicated as outlined above, the SRS may not be
operational.
For your safety, we strongly recommend that you contac tanauthorized Mercedes-Ben zCenter
immediately to have the system checked. Otherwise the SRS may not be activated when needed
in an accident, which could result in serious or fatal injury, or it might deploy unexpectedly and

Front Passenger
Airbag Disabled

Manual The front-passenger air bag and front-passenger knee bag are
deactivated during the journey, although:
R
an adult
or
R a person larger than a certain size is occupying the front-
passenger seat.
If additional forces are applied to the seat, the system may
interpret the occupant's weight as lowe rthan it actually is.
X Pull over and stop the vehicle safely as soon as possible, paying
attention to road and traffic conditions.
X Apply the parking brake.
X Switch the ignition off.
X Have the occupant get out of the vehicle.
X Keep the seat unoccupied, close the front-passenger door and
switch on the ignition.
Observe the 00030005(Y page 42) indicator lamp and the
multifunction display and check the following:
Seat unoccupied and ignition switched on:
R the 00030005 indicator lamp must light up and remain lit. When
the indicator lamp is on, OCS (Y page 42) has deactivated the
front-passenger air bag and front-passenger knee bag.
R the following display messages must not appearint he
multifunction display: Front Passenger Airbag Enabled See Operator's Manual or
Front Passenger Airbag Disabled See Operator's Manual .
X Wait for a period of at least 60 seconds until the necessary
system checks have been completed.
X Make sure that the display messages do not appearint he
multifunction display.
If these conditions are fulfilled, the front-passenger seat can be
occupied again. Whether the 00030005indicator lamp remains lit
or goes out depends on how OCS classifies the occupant.
If the conditions are not fulfilled, the system is not operating
correctly.
X Visit a qualified specialist workshop immediately. G
WARNING
If the 00030005 indicator lamp remains lit with an adulto ccupant on the front-passenger seat
eve nafter performing the above corrective steps, do not have any passenger use the front-
passenger sea tuntil the system has been repaired. 212

Do not spill antifreeze on hot engine parts. Antifreeze contains ethylene glycol which may burn
if it comes into contac twith hot engine parts. You could be seriously burned.
! The coolan tlevel is too low. Avoid making long journeys with too little coolant in the cooling
system. The engine will otherwise be damaged.

ATTENTION ASSIST is deactivated.
X Carefully drive a short distance on a suitable stretch of road,
making slight steering movements at a speed above 12 mph
(20 km/h).
The functions mentioned above are available again when the
warning lamp goes out.
If the warning lamp is still on:
X Observe the additional display messages in the multifunction
display.
X Drive on carefully.

The emission limit values may be exceeded and the engine may
be running in emergency mode.
X Have the vehicle checked as soon as possible at a qualified
specialist workshop.
i In some states, you must immediately visit a qualified
specialist workshop as soon as the yellow Check Engine warning
lamp lights up. This is due to the legal requirement sineffect in
these states. If in doubt, check whether such legal regulations
apply in the state in which you are currently driving. 0010
