Depending on the audio syste
mfitted, the display messages in the Audio ,
Navi and
Tel menus
differ slightly. The examples given in this Owner's Manual apply to vehicles equipped with
COMAND Online. Trip menu
Standard display X
Press and hold the %button on the
steering wheel until the Trip Trip :
menu
with trip meter 1 and total distance

Trip computer "From start" or "From
reset" The values in the
From start submenu are
calculated from the start of a journey, whilst
the values in the From reset submenu are
calculated from the last time the submenu
was reset (Y page 184).
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Trip menu.
X Press the 9or: button to select
From start or
From reset . Example: "From start" trip computer

? Average fuel consumption
The From start trip computer is reset auto-
matically when:
R the ignition has been switched off for more
than four hours.
R 999 hours have been exceeded.
R 9999kilometres have been exceeded.
The From reset trip computer is reset if
9999 hours or 99,999 kilometres are excee-
ded.
Displaying the range and current fuel
consumption X
Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Trip menu.
X Press the 9or: button to select the
current fuel consumption and the approxi-
mate range (except for AMG vehicles). Menus and submenus

Approximate range :is calculated accord-
ing to the current driving style and the amount
of fuel in the tank. If there is only a small
amount of fuel left in the fuel tank, the display
shows a vehicle being refuelled Cinstead
of range :.
Digital speedometer X
Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Trip menu.
X Press the 9or: button to select the
digital speedometer. :
Shift recommendation

i If the gearshift recommendatio nis shown
in the multifunction display, it is not shown
in the status bar.
For further information on gearshift recom-
mendations, see (Y page 136). Resetting values You can reset the values of the following func-
tions:
R trip meter
R trip computer "From start"
R trip computer "From reset"
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Trip menu.
X Press the 9or: button to select the
function that you wish to reset.

Displaying navigation instructions In the
Navi menu, the multifunction display
shows navigation instructions. For more
information, see the separate operating
instructions.
X Switch on Audio 20 with Becker ®
MAP
PILOT or COMAND Online (see the sepa-
rate operating instructions).
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Navi menu.184

When a change of direction has been
announced, you will see visual distance dis-
play ;next to the symbol for change of
direction =.This shortens from the bottom
to the top of the display as you approach the
point of the announced change of direction.

Lane recommendations are only displayed if
the relevant data is available on the digital
map. :

On multi-lane roads, lane recommendation
= may be shown for the next change of
direction. During the change of direction,
additional lanes may be displayed. Example: lane recommendatio

Selecting aradio station You can only change the waveband and store
new stations using Audio 20 or COMAND
APS. X
Switch on Audio 20 or COMAND Online
(see the separate operating instructions)
and select Radio.
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Audio menu.

select the audio device or medium (see the
separate operating instructions).
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Audio menu.

briefly press the 9or: button.
X To select a track from the track list
(rapid scrolling): press and hold the
9 or: button until the desired track
has been reached.
If you press and hold the 9or: but-
ton, the rapid scrolling speed is increased.
Not all audio devices or media support this
function.
If track information is stored on the audio
device or medium, the multifunctio ndisplay
will show the number and name of the track.
The current track does not appear in audio
AUX mode (Aux iliary audio mode: external
audio source connected).
Video DVD operation X
Switch on COMAND Online and select
video DV D(see the separate operating
instructions).
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Audio menu. Example: DVD changer display

a Bluetooth ®

WARNING
Observe the legal requirements of the country
in which you are currently driving regarding
the use of mobile phones in the vehicle.
If it is permitted to use mobile phones while
the vehicle is in motion ,you should only use
them when the road and traffic conditions Menus and submenus

allow. Otherwise, you may be distracted from
the traffic conditions, cause an accident and
injure yourself and others.
X Switch on the mobile phone and Audio 20
or COMAND Online (see the separate oper-
ating instructions).
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to selec tthe Tel menu.
You will see one of the following display mes-
sages in the multifunction display:
R Please enter PIN :t
he mobile phone has
been placed in the mobile phone bracket
and the PIN has not been entered.
X Enter the PIN using the mobile phone, LIN-
GUATRONIC, Audio 20 or COMAND Online.
The mobile phone will search for a network.
R Telephone ready or the name of the net-
work provider: the mobile phone has found
a network and is ready to receive.
R Telephone No Service : no network is
available, or the mobile phone is searching
for a network.
Accepting acall If someone calls you whe
nyou are in the
Tel menu, a display message appears in the
multifunction display, for example: X
Press the 6button on the steering
wheel to accept an incoming call.
If you are not in the Tel menu, you can still
accept a call. Rejects or ends a call X
Press the ~button on the steering
wheel.
If you are not in the Tel menu, you can still
reject or end a call.
Dialling anumber from the phone book If you
rmobile phone is able to receive calls,
you can search for and dial a number from the
phone book in Audio 20 or COMAND APS.
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to select the Tel menu.
X Press the 9,:ora button to call
up the phone book.
X Press the 9or: button to select the
desired name.
To start scrolling rapidly ,press and hold the
9 or: button for longer than one
second. After a short time, rapid scroll
speeds up.
Rapid scrolling stops when you release the
button or reach the end of the list.
X If onlyo ne telephone number is stored
for a name: press the6ora button
to start dialling.
or
X If there is more than one number for a
particular name: press the6ora
button to display the numbers.
X Press the 9or: button to select the
number you want to dial.
X Press the 6ora button to start dial-
ling.
or
X If you do not want to make a call: press
the ~ or% button.
Redialling The on-board computer saves the last names
or numbers dialled in the redial memory.188

X Press the 6button to switch to the
redial memory.
X Press the 9or: button to select the
desired name or number.
X Press the 6ora button to start dial-
ling.

Speed Limit Assist Displaying Speed Limit Assist
In the
Speed Lim. Asst. function, a detec-
ted speed limit is displayed under certain
conditions (Y page 174).
X Press =or; on the steering wheel
to select the Assist. menu.
X Press 9or: to select Speed Lim.

The multifunction display shows Speed
Limit Assist.
Activating/deactivating the Speed Limit
Assist message function
You can set Speed Limit Assist (Y page 174)
to display a detected speed limit automati-
cally for five seconds. Other messages in the
multifunction display will be faded out for this
length of time.
X Press =or; on the steering wheel
to select the Assist. menu.
X Press 9or: to select Speed Lim.

The multifunction display shows Speed
Limit Assist. X
Press :.
The curren tselection is displayed.
X To activate or deactivate: pressa.
If Speed Limit Assist is operational and the
message function is activated, the multifunc-
tion display shows the Äsymbol when the
ignition is switched on.
Show distance display This function is only available with DIS-
TRONIC PLUS.
X
Press =or; on the steering wheel
to select the Assist. menu.
X Press the 9or: button to select
Distance display .
X Press a.
The DISTRONIC PLUS distance display
(Y page 162) appears in the multifunction
display.
Activating/deactivating the PRE-SAFE ®
Brake PRE-SAFE
®
Brake is only available in vehicles
with DISTRONIC PLUS.
X Press =or; on the steering wheel
to select the Assist. menu.
X Press 9or: to select PRE-SAFE Brake .
X Press the abutton.
The curren tselection is displayed.
X To activate/deactivate: pressa
again.
When PRE-SAFE ®
Brake (Y page 59) is acti-
vated, the multifunction display shows the
Ä symbol as long as the HOLD function is
not activated (Y page 165).
Vehicles with Parking Guidance: if PARK-
TRONIC is activated and you are driving at a
speed under 35 km/h, the jParking Guid-
ance symbol is shown instead of the Ä
