equipped with Tire Pressure Monitor-
ing (TPM) Sensors. Then, drive the
vehicle for 20 minutes above
24 km/h. The TPMS will chime, the
“TPM Telltale Light” will flash on
and off for 75 seconds and then re-
main on and the Electronic Vehicle
Information Center (EVIC) will dis-
play the “SERVICE TPM SYSTEM”
message and then display dashes (--)
in place of the pressure values. Begin-
ning with the next ignition switch
cycle, the TPMS will no longer chime
or display the “SERVICE TPM SYS-
TEM” message in the EVIC but
dashes (--) will remain in place of the
pressure values.
To reactivate the TPMS, replace all
four wheel and tire assemblies (road
tires) with tires equipped with TPM
sensors. Then, drive the vehicle for up
to 20 minutes above 24 km/h. The
TPMS will chime, the “TPM Telltale
Light” will flash on and off for 75 sec-
onds and then turn off, and the Elec-
tronic Vehicle Information Center
(EVIC) will display the “SERVICE
TPM SYSTEM” message. The EVIC
will also display pressure values inplace of the dashes. On the next igni-
tion switch cycle the “SERVICE TPM
SYSTEM” message will no longer be
displayed as long as no system fault
exists.
FUEL REQUIREMENTS
— GASOLINE ENGINES
3.6L ENGINE
All engines are designed to meet all
emissions regulations and provide ex-
cellent fuel economy and performance
when using high quality unleaded
gasoline with a minimum research oc-
tane rating of 91. The use of premium
gasoline is not recommended, as it
will not provide any benefit over regu-
lar gasoline in these engines.
Light spark knock at low engine
speeds is not harmful to your engine.
However, continued heavy spark
knock at high speeds can cause dam-
age, and immediate service is re-
quired. Poor quality gasoline can
cause problems such as hard starting,
stalling, and hesitations. If you expe-
rience these symptoms, try another
brand of gasoline before considering
service for the vehicle.
Over 40 auto manufacturers world-
wide have issued and endorsed consis-
tent gasoline specifications (the World-
wide Fuel Charter, WWFC) which
define fuel properties necessary to de-
liver enhanced emissions, perfor-
mance, and durability for your vehicle.
The manufacturer recommends the use
of gasoline that meets the WWFC
specifications if they are available.Besides using unleaded gasoline with
the proper octane rating, gasolines
that contain detergents, corrosion and
stability additives are recommended.
Using gasolines that have these addi-
tives may help improve fuel economy,
reduce emissions, and maintain ve-
hicle performance.Poor quality gasoline can cause prob-
lems such as hard starting, stalling and
stumble. If you experience these prob-
lems, try another brand of gasoline be-
fore considering service for the vehicle.Methanol
(Methyl or Wood Alcohol) is used in a
variety of concentrations when
blended with unleaded gasoline. You
may find fuels containing 3% or more

Proper tire inflation pressures areessential to the safe and satisfac-
tory operation of your vehicle. Re-
fer to “Tires – General Informa-
tion” in “Starting and Operating”
for information on tire pressures
and for proper tire inflation proce-
dures.
Check the trailer tires for proper tire inflation pressures before
trailer usage.
Check for signs of tire wear or vis-
ible tire damage before towing a
trailer. Refer to “Tires – General
Information” in “Starting and Op-
erating” for information on tread
wear indicators and for the proper
inspection procedure.
When replacing tires, refer to “Tires – General Information” in
“Starting and Operating” for infor -
mation on replacement tires and
for the proper tire replacement pro-
cedures. Replacing tires with a
higher load carrying capacity will
not increase the vehicle's GVWR
and GAWR limits. Towing Requirements – Trailer
Brakes
Do
notinterconnect the hydraulic
brake system or vacuum system of
your vehicle with that of the trailer.
This could cause inadequate brak-
ing and possible personal injury.
An electronically actuated trailer brake controller is required when
towing a trailer with electronically
actuated brakes. When towing a
trailer equipped with a hydraulic
surge actuated brake system, an
electronic brake controller is not
required.
Trailer brakes are recommended for trailers over 454 kg and r e-
quired for trailers in excess of
907 kg.
CAUTION!
If the trailer weighs more than
454 kg loaded, it should have its
own brakes, and they should be of
adequate capacity. Failure to do this
could lead to accelerated brake lin-
ing wear, higher brake pedal effort,
and longer stopping distances.
WARNING!
 Do not connect trailer brakes to your vehicle's hydraulic brake
lines. It can overload your brake
system and cause it to fail. You
might not have brakes when you
need them and could have an col-
lision.
 Towing any trailer will increase
your stopping distance. When
towing, you should allow for ad-
ditional space between your ve-
hicle and the vehicle in front of
you. Failure to do so could result
in a collision.
Towing Requirements – Trailer
Lights And Wiring
Whenever you pull a trailer, regard-
less of the trailer size, stoplights and
turn signals on the trailer are required
for motoring safety.
The Trailer Tow Package may include
a 7-pin or a 13-pin wiring harness.
Use a factory approved trailer harness
and connector.

Do not cut or splice wiring into the

Small punctures up to
14” (6 mm) in
the tire tread can be sealed with
TIREFIT. Foreign objects (e.g.,
screws or nails) should not be re-
moved from the tire. TIREFIT can be
used in outside temperatures down to
approximately ­20°C.
This kit will provide a temporary tire
seal, allowing you to drive your ve-
hicle up to 160 km with a maximum
speed of 88 km/hr.

TIREFIT USAGE
PRECAUTIONS
 Replace the TIREFIT SealantBottle (1) and Sealant Hose (6)
prior to the expiration date (printed
on the bottle label) to assure opti-
mum operation of the system. Refer
to “Sealing a Tire with TIREFIT”
section (F) “Sealant Bottle and
Hose Replacement”.
 The Sealant Bottle (1) and Sealant Hose (6) are a one tire application
use. After each use, always replace
these components immediately at
an authorized dealer.
 When the TIREFIT sealant is in a liquid form, clean water, and a
damp cloth will remove the mate-
rial from the vehicle or tire and
wheel components. Once the seal-
ant dries, it can easily be peeled off
and properly discarded.
 For optimum performance, make sure the valve stem on the wheel is
free of debris before connecting the
TIREFIT kit.  You can use the TIREFIT air pump
to inflate bicycle tires. The kit also
comes with two needles, located in
the Accessory Storage Compart-
ment (on the bottom of the air
pump) for inflating sport balls,
rafts, or similar inflatable items.
However, use only the Air Pump
Hose (7) and make sure the Mode
Select Knob (5) is in the Air Mode
when inflating such items to avoid
injecting sealant into them. The
TIREFIT Sealant is only intended
to seal punctures less than 6 mm
diameter in the tread of your ve-
hicle.
 Do not lift or carry the TIREFIT kit by the hoses.
WARNING!
 Do not attempt to seal a tire on theside of the vehicle closest to traf-
fic. Pull far enough off the road to
avoid the danger of being hit
when using the TIREFIT kit.
 Do not use TIREFIT or drive the
vehicle under the following cir-
cumstances:

If the puncture in the tire tread
is approximately 6 mm or
larger.
If the tire has any sidewall
damage.
If the tire has any damage from
driving with extremely low tire
pressure.
If the tire has any damage from
driving on a flat tire.
If the wheel has any damage.
If you are unsure of the condi-
tion of the tire or the wheel.
 Keep TIREFIT away from open
flames or heat source.
 A loose TIREFIT kit thrown for-
ward in a collision or hard stop
could endanger the occupants of
the vehicle. Always stow the
TIREFIT kit in the place pro-
vided. Failure to follow these
warnings can result in injuries
that are serious or fatal to you,
your passengers, and others
around you.

flow from the Sealant Bottle (1)
through the Sealant Hose (6) and
into the tire.
NOTE:
Sealant may leak out through the
puncture in the tire.
If the sealant (white fluid) does not
flow within 0 – 10 seconds through
the Sealant Hose (6):
1. Press the Power Button (4) to turn
Off the TIREFIT kit. Disconnect the
Sealant Hose (6) from the valve stem.
Make sure the valve stem is free of
debris. Reconnect the Sealant Hose
(6) to the valve stem. Check that the
Mode Select Knob (5) is in the Sealant
Mode position and not Air Mode.
Press the Power Button (4) to turn On
the TIREFIT kit.
2. Connect the Power Plug (8) to a
different 12 Volt power outlet in your
vehicle or another vehicle, if avail-
able. Make sure the engine is running
before turning ON the TIREFIT kit.
3. The Sealant Bottle (1) may be
empty due to previous use. Call for
assistance. NOTE:
If the Mode Select Knob (5) is on
Air Mode and the pump is operat-
ing, air will dispense from the Air
Pump Hose (7) only, not the Seal-
ant Hose (6).
If the sealant (white fluid) does
flow
through the Sealant Hose (6):
1. Continue to operate the pump un-
til sealant is no longer flowing
through hose (typically takes 30 -
70 seconds). As the sealant flows
through the Sealant Hose (6), the
Pressure Gauge (3) can read as high
as 5 Bar. The Pressure Gauge (3) will
decrease quickly from approximately
70 psi (5 Bar) to the actual tire pres-
sure when the Sealant Bottle (1) is
empty.
2. The pump will start to inject air
into the tire immediately after the
Sealant Bottle (1) is empty. Continue
to operate the pump and inflate the
tire to the pressure indicated on the
tire pressure label on the driver-side
latch pillar (recommended pressure).
Check the tire pressure by looking at
the Pressure Gauge (3). If the tire does not inflate to at least
1.8 Bar pressure within 15 min-
utes:
 The tire is too badly damaged. Do
not attempt to drive the vehicle fur-
ther. Call for assistance.
NOTE:
If the tire becomes over-inflated,
press the Deflation Button to re-
duce the tire pressure to the rec-
ommended inflation pressure be-
fore continuing.
If the tire inflates to the recom-
mended pressure or is at least 1.8
Bar pressure within 15 minutes:
1. Press the Power Button (4) to turn
off the TIREFIT kit.
2. Remove the Speed Limit sticker
from the top of the Sealant Bottle (1)
and place the sticker on the instru-
ment panel.
3. Immediately disconnect the Seal-
ant Hose (6) from the valve stem,
reinstall the cap on the fitting at the
end of the hose, and place the TIRE-

FIT kit in the vehicle storage location.
Quickly proceed to (D) “Drive Ve-
hicle”.CAUTION!
 The metal end fitting from PowerPlug (8) may get hot after use, so
it should be handled carefully.
 Failure to reinstall the cap on the
fitting at the end of the Sealant
Hose (6) can result in sealant con-
tacting your skin, clothing, and
the vehicle’s interior. It can also
result in sealant contacting inter-
nal TIREFIT kit components
which may cause permanent
damage to the kit.
(D) Drive Vehicle:
Immediately after injecting sealant
and inflating the tire, drive the vehicle
8 km or 10 minutes to ensure distri-
bution of the TIREFIT Sealant within
the tire. Do not exceed 88 km/h.
WARNING!
TIREFIT is not a permanent flat tire
repair. Have the tire inspected and
repaired or replaced after using
TIREFIT. Do not exceed 55 mph
(88 km/h) until the tire is repaired
or replaced. Failure to follow this
warning can result in injuries that
are serious or fatal to you, your pas-
sengers, and others around you.
(E) After Driving:
Pull over to a safe location. Refer to
“Whenever You Stop to Use TIRE-
FIT” before continuing.
1. Turn the Mode Select Knob (5) to
the Air Mode position.
2. Uncoil the power plug and insert
the plug into the vehicle's 12 Volt
power outlet.
3. Uncoil the Air Pump Hose (7)
(black in color) and screw the fitting
at the end of hose (7) onto the valve
stem.
4. Check the pressure in the tire by
reading the Pressure Gauge (3). If tire pressure is less than 1.3 Bar,
the tire is too badly damaged. Do not
attempt to drive the vehicle further.
Call for assistance.
If the tire pressure is 1.3 Bar or
higher:
1. Press the Power Button (4) to turn
on TIREFIT and inflate the tire to the
pressure indicated on the tire and
loading information label on the
driver
-side door opening.
NOTE:
If the tire becomes over-inflated,
press the Deflation Button to re-
duce the tire pressure to the rec-
ommended inflation pressure be-
fore continuing.
2. Disconnect the TIREFIT kit from
the valve stem, reinstall the cap on the
valve stem and unplug from 12 Volt
outlet.
3. Place the TIREFIT kit in its proper
storage area in the vehicle.
4. Have the tire inspected and re-
paired or replaced at the earliest op-
portunity at an authorized dealer or
tire service center.

CAUTION!
 When “rocking” a stuck vehicleby moving between DRIVE and
REVERSE, do not spin the wheels
faster than 24 km/h, or drivetrain
damage may result.
 Revving the engine or spinning
the wheels too fast may lead to
transmission overheating and
failure. It can also damage the
tires. Do not spin the wheels above
48 km/h while in gear (no trans-
mission shifting occurring).WARNING!
Fast spinning tires can be danger-
ous. Forces generated by excessive
wheel speeds may cause damage, or
even failure, of the axle and tires. A
tire could explode and injure some-
one. Do not spin your vehicle's
wheels faster than 48 km/h or for
longer than 30 seconds continuously
without stopping when you are stuck
and do not let anyone near a spin-
ning wheel, no matter what the
speed. TOW EYES
Your vehicle is equipped with tow
eyes, which are mounted in the front
and the rear.
CAUTION!
Tow eyes are for emergency use only,
to rescue a vehicle stranded off road.
Do not use tow eyes for tow truck
hookup or highway towing. You
could damage your vehicle. Tow
straps are recommended when tow-
ing the vehicle; chains may cause
vehicle damage.WARNING!
Stand clear of vehicles when pulling
with tow eyes. Tow straps and chains
may break, causing serious injury.
SHIFT LEVER
OVERRIDE — 5 SPEED
TRANSMISSION
If a malfunction occurs and the shift
lever cannot be moved out of the
PARK position, you can use the fol-
lowing procedure to temporarily
move the shift lever: 1. Firmly apply the parking brake.
2. Remove the rubber tray from the
storage bin located to the right of the
shift lever. The override access port is
near the bottom of the bin to the right
of the shift lever gate.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the ON/
RUN position without starting the en-
gine (engine OFF).
4. Press and maintain firm pressure
on the brake pedal.
5. Using a screwdriver or similar tool,
press and hold the override tab
through the access port on the center
console.
6. Move the shift lever to the NEU-
TRAL position.

ant. Check the front of the A/C con-
denser for any accumulation of bugs,
leaves, etc. If dirty, clean by gently
spraying water from a garden hose
vertically down the face of the con-
denser.
Check the coolant recovery bottle
tubing for brittle rubber, cracking,
tears, cuts, and tightness of the con-
nection at the bottle and radiator. In-
spect the entire system for leaks.
With the engine at normal operating
temperature (but not running), check
the cooling system pressure cap for
proper vacuum sealing by draining a
small amount of engine coolant (anti-
freeze) from the radiator drain cock.
If the cap is sealing properly, the en-
gine coolant (antifreeze) will begin to
drain from the coolant recovery
bottle. DO NOT REMOVE THE
COOLANT PRESSURE CAP WHEN
THE COOLING SYSTEM IS HOT.
Cooling System – Drain, Flush,
And Refill
If the engine coolant (antifreeze) is
dirty or contains a considerableamount of sediment, clean and flush
with a reliable cooling system cleaner.
Follow with a thorough rinsing to re-
move all deposits and chemicals.
Properly dispose of the old engine
coolant (antifreeze) solution.
Refer to the “Maintenance Schedule”
for the proper maintenance intervals.
Selection Of Coolant
Use only the manufactur
er's recom-
mended engine coolant (antifreeze).
Refer to “Fluids, Lubricants, and
Genuine Parts” in “Maintaining Your
Vehicle” for further information.
CAUTION!
 Mixing of engine coolant (anti- freeze) other than specified engine
coolant (antifreeze), may result in
engine damage and may decrease
corrosion protection. If a non-
specified engine coolant (anti-
freeze) is introduced into the cool-
ing system in an emergency, it
should be replaced with the speci-
fied engine coolant (antifreeze) as
soon as possible.

 Do not use water alone or alcohol-
based engine coolant (antifreeze)
products. Do not use additional
rust inhibitors or antirust prod-
ucts, as they may not be compat-
ible with the radiator engine cool-
ant (antifreeze) and may plug the

 This vehicle has not been de-
signed for use with propylene
glycol-based engine coolant (anti-
freeze). Use of propylene glycol-
based engine coolant (antifreeze)
is not recommended.
Adding Coolant
Your vehicle has been built with an
improved engine coolant (antifreeze)
that allows extended maintenance in-
tervals. This engine coolant (anti-
freeze) can be used up to five years or
168 000 km before replacement. To
prevent reducing this extended main-
tenance period, it is important that
you use the same engine coolant (an-
tifreeze) throughout the life of your
vehicle.
