Safety features of your vehicle
Always be sure that you and all vehicle
occupants are seated and restrained
properly (sitting upright with the seat in
an upright position, centered on the seat
cushion, with the person's legs comfort-
ably extended, feet on the floor, and
wearing the seat belt properly) for the
most effective protection by the air bag and the seat belt.
The OCS may not function properly ifthe passenger takes actions which can
affect the detection system. These include:
(1) Failing to sit in an upright position.
(2) Leaning against the door or center console.
(3) Sitting towards the sides or the front of the seat.
(4) Putting legs on the dashboard or resting them on other locations
which reduce the passenger weighton the front seat.
(5) Improperly wearing the safety belt.
(6) Reclining the seat back.
WARNING
Riding in an improper position or placing weight or an active elec-
tronic device (ex. Laptop computer,
navigation etc..) on the front pas-
senger's seat when it is unoccu-
pied by a passenger adversely
affects the occupant classification system (OCS).

The system judges a person of adult
size as an adult. When a smaller adult sits in the front passenger seat, the
system may recognize him/her as a
child depending on his/her physique
and posture.
* 2
Do not allow children to ride in the
front passenger seat. When a larger
child who has outgrown a child
restraint system sits in the front pas-
senger seat, the system may recog-
nize him/her as an adult depending
upon his/her physique or sitting posi-tion.
* 3
Never install a child restraint systemon the front passenger seat.

Maintenance
Interior care
Interior general precautions
Prevent caustic solutions such as per- fume and cosmetic oil from contacting
the dashboard because they may cause
damage or discoloration. If they do con- tact the dashboard, wipe them off imme-
diately. See the instructions for the prop-
er way to clean vinyl.
Cleaning the upholstery and interiortrim
Vinyl
Remove dust and loose dirt from vinyl
with a whisk broom or vacuum cleaner.
Clean vinyl surfaces with a vinyl cleaner.
Fabric
Remove dust and loose dirt from fabric
with a whisk broom or vacuum cleaner. Clean with a mild soap solution recom-
mended for upholstery or carpets.
Remove fresh spots immediately with a
fabric spot cleaner. If fresh spots do not
receive immediate attention, the fabriccan be stained and its color can be
affected. Also, its fire-resistant properties
can be reduced if the material is not
properly maintained.
Cleaning the lap/shoulder belt web-bing
Clean the belt webbing with any mild
soap solution recommended for cleaning
upholstery or carpet. Follow the instruc-
tions provided with the soap. Do not
bleach or re-dye the webbing because
this may weaken it.
Cleaning the interior window glass
If the interior glass surfaces of the vehi-
cle become fogged (that is, covered with
an oily, greasy or waxy film), they should
be cleaned with glass cleaner. Follow the
directions on the glass cleaner container.CAUTION
Never allow water or other liquids to
come in contact with electrical/elec-tronic components inside the vehi- cle as this may damage them.
CAUTION
Using anything but recommended
cleaners and procedures may affect the fabric’s appearance and fire-resistant properties.
CAUTION
Do not scrape or scratch the inside of the rear window. This may result
in damage to the rear window defroster grid.CAUTION
When cleaning leather products(steering wheel, seats etc.), use
neutral detergents or low alcoholcontent solutions. If you use highalcohol content solutions or acid/alkaline detergents, the color
of the leather may fade or the sur-face may get stripped off.

VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (VIN)
The vehicle identification number (VIN) is
the number used in registering your car
and in all legal matters pertaining to its
ownership, etc.
The number is punched on the floor
under the passenger seat. To check the
number, open the cover. The VIN is also on a plate attached to the
top of the dashboard. The number on the plate can easily be seen through the
windshield from outside.
The vehicle certification label attached
on the driver’s side center pillar gives the
