HEADLIGHTSLIGHT BEAM DIRECTION
The correct direction of the headlights is essential
for the comfort and safety of the driver and other
road users. The headlights must be correctly
directed to ensure the best visibility. Contact a Fiat
Dealership to have the headlights checked and
adjusted.
IMPORTANT When the gas discharge (Xenon)
bulbs (for versions/markets, where provided) are
switched on, normally parabolas and light beam
move vertically for about 2 seconds until headlight
alignment has stabilised.
HEADLIGHT ALIGNMENT CORRECTOR
This device works with the ignition key in the
MAR-ON position and the dipped headlights on.
The car will tilt backwards when it is loaded, raising
the light beam. The beams must therefore be
realigned in this case.
Adjusting headlights alignment
Press buttons A and B fig. 102 on the central trim;
gas discharge headlights (Xenon) are electronically
adjusted and therefore the buttons A and B are not
present.
Press button A to increase the light beam of one
position. Press button B to decrease the light beam
of one position.Displays C in the instrument panel provide a visual
indication of the positions during adjustment.
Correct positions depending on the load
Position 0 -
one or two occupants in the front
seats.
Position 1 -
five people
Position 2
five people with a load in the luggage
compartment
Position 3
driver + maximum permitted load
stowed in the luggage compartment.
IMPORTANT Check the alignment of the light
beams each time the weight of the load transported
changes.
FOG LIGHT ALIGNMENT
Contact a Fiat Dealership to have the lights
checked and adjusted, if necessary.

Every time the ignition key is turned to MAR-ON
the ASR OFF button LED switches on for a few
seconds to indicate that the system is running
a diagnosis. The LED activation should not
be understood as a fault.
When the ASR is switched off, the button LED
lights up (along with a message on the display, see
“Warning lights and messages” chapter).
If the ASR is switched off when driving, it is
automatically switched on again when the vehicle is
started up.When travelling on snowy roads with snow chains,
it may be helpful to turn the ASR off: in fact, in
these conditions, slipping of the drive wheels when
moving off makes it possible to obtain better
traction.
Fault indications In the event of a fault, the ASR
system will be deactivated automatically and the
warning light will switch on constantly on the
instrument panel (together with a message on the
display) (see “Warning lights and messages”
chapter). In this case, contact a Fiat Dealership as
soon as possible.
WARNING
The ASR system will not operate when
a spare wheel is fitted: in this case,
thewarning light will switch on constantly
in the instrument panel (together with a
message on the display) (see “Warning lights
and messages” chapter).
WARNING
For the correct operation of the ESP
and ASR systems it is vital that the
tyres are the same make and the same type on
all the wheels, in perfect condition and, above
all, the recommended type, make and size.

❒engine stopping by Start&Stop system for over 3
minutes;
❒for versions equipped with automatic climate
control (for versions/markets where provided),
to enable suitable thermal comfort or with
MAX-DEF activation.
If a gear in engaged during stopping with
Start&Stop, the automatic restarting of the engine
is only permitted by fully depressing the clutch
pedal.
The driver is informed by a message on the display
and - for versions/markets, where provided - by
the flashing of the
symbol.
If the clutch is not pressed, about 3 minutes after
the engine stops, the engine can be restarted
only using the ignition key.
In cases of undesired engine stops, due for example
to the clutch pedal being released abruptly with a
gear engaged, if the Start&Stop system is activated,
the engine can be restarted by fully depressing
the clutch pedal.
SAFETY FUNCTIONS
When the engine is stopped by the Start&Stop
system, if the driver releases his/her seat belt and
opens the driver's or passenger's door, the engine
can be restarted only using the ignition key.
The driver is informed by a buzzer and by the
flashing of the symbol
on the display; on some
versions, a message is displayed as well."ENERGY SAVING" FUNCTION
(for versions/markets, where provided)
If, after automatic engine restarting, the driver does
not carry out any action on the car for an
extended period (about 3 minutes), the Start&Stop
system stops the engine definitively, to prevent
fuel consumption. In these cases, the engine can
only be restarted using the ignition key.
NoteIn any case, it is possible to keep the engine
running by deactivating the Start&Stop system.
IRREGULAR OPERATION
In the event of malfunction, the Start&Stop system
is deactivated. The driver is informed of the fault
by the flashing symbol
(versions with
multifunction display) or symbol
(versions with
reconfigurable multifunction display). For
versions/markets, where provided, a warning
message is also displayed. In this case, contact a Fiat
Dealership.
CAR INACTIVITY
In the event of car inactivity, special attention must
be paid to the disconnection of the battery power
supply.
Proceed as follows: detach the connector A (by
pressing button B) from sensor C for monitoring
the status of the battery installed on the negative

battery pole D. This sensor should never be
disconnected from the pole except if the battery is
replaced. fig. 106
WARNING
When replacing the batter y, always go
to a Fiat Dealership. Replace the
battery with one of the same type (HEAVY
DUTY) and with the same specifications.
JUMP STARTING
When jump starting, never connect the negative
lead (-) of the auxiliary battery to the negative pole

"DUALDRIVE" ELECTRIC POWER
STEERING SYSTEMThe car is equipped with an electrically controlled
power steering system called “Dualdrive”, working
only with the ignition key at MAR-ON and the
engine running, that customises steering force
according to the driving conditions.
IMPORTANT When turning the ignition key quickly,
full power steering functionality can be achieved
after 1-2 seconds.
ACTIVATION/DEACTIVATION (CITY
function)
(for versions/markets, where provided)
To turn the function on/off, press button A fig. 111
on the dashboard, next to the steering wheel. The activation of the function is signalled by the
word CITY on the display (in some versions it
is signalled by the switching on of the warning light
CITY).
When the CITY function is on, the steering wheel
effort is lighter and parking operations are easier:
therefore this function is particularly useful for
driving in city centres.
FAILURE INDICATIONS
Any failure of the electric power steering system is
indicated by instrument panel warning light
coming on together with a message on the
display (on some versions together with a symbol
on the display) (see “Warning lights and messages”
chapter).
In the event of electric power steering system
failure, the car can be driven with mechanical
steering.
SPORT FUNCTION
(for versions/markets, where provided)
The vehicle may be equipped with a system that
allows a choice between two styles of driving,
normal and sports.
Pressing the SPORT button fig. 112 produces a
sporty driving setting characterised by higher
acceleration response and more effort required at
the steering wheel for a sporty driving sensation.

WARNING
Before starting any servicing operation,
stop the engine and remove the key
from the ignition switch to operate the
steering lock, particularly when the wheels do
not touch the ground. If this is not possible
(for example if the key needs to be turned to
MAR-ON or the engine must be running),
remove the main fuse that protects the
electric power steering.
TYRE PRESSURE MONITORING
SYSTEM TPMS(Tyre Pressure Monitoring System)
(for versions/markets, where provided)
The car may be fitted with a tyre pressure
monitoring system (TPMS), which informs the
driver of the tyre inflation status via the "Check
tyre pressure" and "Low tyre pressure" messages
on the display. For a detailed description of the two
messages, see "Warning lights and messages"
chapter. This system comprises a radio frequency
transmitter fitted to each wheel (on the wheel rim
inside the tyre), which is able to send information
on the tyre inflation pressure of each wheel to
the control unit.
WARNING
The presence of TPMS does not
exonerate the driver from regularly
checking the pressure of the tyres and the
spare wheel (see "Wheels" in the
"Maintenance and care" chapter).
WARNING
Sensor malfunctioning fault indications are not
stored and will therefore not be displayed after the
engine has been switched off and then on again. If
the fault conditions persist, the control unit will

When reverse gear is released, the front and rear
sensors remain activated until a speed of around 15
km/h is exceeded to allow the parking manoeuvre
to be completed.
The system can also be activated by pressing the
button
fig. 115 in the central panel: a warning
light in the button comes on when the system
is activated.
Every time the ignition key is turned to MAR-ON
the LED on the button
flashes briefly to
indicate that the system is running a diagnosis. The
LED activation should not be understood as a fault.
The sensors are deactivated by pressing the button
again
fig. 115 or when a speed of 15 km/h is
exceeded: the warning light in the button is off
when the system is not active.
When the sensors are activated, the system starts
to produce acoustic signals from the front orrear buzzers as soon as an obstacle is detected with
the frequency increasing as the obstacle gets closer.
When the obstacle is less than about 30 cm away,
the sound becomes continuous. Depending on
the position of the obstacle (in front or behind) the
sound is produced by the corresponding buzzers
(front or rear). The obstacle closest to the vehicle
is signalled.
The acoustic signal stops immediately if the
distance of the obstacle increases. The sound cycle
remains constant if the distance measured by the
centre sensors remains unchanged, while if this
situation occurs for the side sensors, the signal is
interrupted after about 3 seconds (for example, to
prevent signals in the case of manoeuvres alongside
walls).
WARNING
Parking and other dangerous
manoeuvres however are always the
driver ’s responsibility.When making these
manoeuvres, always make sure that no people
(especially children) or animals are present
in your manoeuvring space.The parking
sensors are designed to assist drivers: in any
case, you must always pay the utmost
attention during potentially dangerous
manoeuvres, even when carried out at low
speed.

the container with the fuel. Pour the additive into
the tank before the diesel fuel.
When using or parking the vehicle for a long time
in the mountains or cold areas, it is advisable to
refuel using locally available diesel fuel. In this case,
it is also advisable to keep the tank over 50% full.
For diesel engines, use only diesel fuel for
motor vehicles in accordance with
EN590 European specifications.The use
of other products or mixtures may damage the
engine beyond repair and consequently
invalidate the warranty, due to the damage
caused. If you accidentally introduce other types
of fuel into the tank, do not star t the engine
and empty the tank. If the engine has been run,
even for only a very short time, you will need
to have the entire fuel system emptied in
addition to the tank.
REFUELLING CAPACITY
To fill the tank completely, top-up twice after the
first click of the fuel delivery gun. Further top-ups
could cause faults in the fuel feeding system.FUEL FILLER CAP
Opening fig. 116
Open flap A pulling it outwards, hold cap B still,
insert the ignition key in the lock and turn it
anticlockwise.
Turn the cap anticlockwise and remove it. The cap
has a device C that attaches it to the flap so it
cannot be lost. When refilling, attach the cap to the
flap, as shown.
Closing
Fit the cap (complete with key) and turn it
clockwise until it clicks once or more.
Turn the key clockwise and extract it, then close
the flap.
IMPORTANT The airtight sealing of the tank may
cause a slight vacuum. A suction noise when you
release the cap is therefore entirely normal.
