Audio player or audio media operation

Audio data from various audio devices or
media can be played, depending on the equip-
ment fitted in the vehicle.
X Switch on Audio 20 or COMAND Online and
select the audio device or medium (see the
separate operating instructions).
X Press the =or; buttononthe steer-
ing wheel to select the Audio menu.
X To selectt he next/previous track:
briefly press the 9or: button.
X To select a track from the track list
(rapid scrolling): press and hold the
9 or: button until desired
track ;has been reached.
If you press and hold the 9or: but-
ton, the rapid scrolling speed is increased.
Not all audio devices or media support this
function.
If track information is stored on the audio
device or medium, the multifunction display
will show the numbe rand title of the track.
The current trac kdoes not appear in audio
AUX mode (Auxiliary audio mode: external

WARNING
Observe the legal requirements of the country
in which you are currently driving regarding
the use of mobile phones in the vehicle.
If it is permitted to use mobile phones while
the vehicle is in motion, you should only use
them when the road and traffic conditions
allow. Otherwise, you may be distracted from
the traffic conditions, cause an accident and
injure yoursel fand others.

If Speed Limit Assist is operational and the
message function is activated, the multifunc-
tion display shows the Äsymbol when the
ignition is switched on.

R When pulling away, only depress the accel-
erator pedal as far as is necessary.
R Adapt your driving style to the prevailing

WARNING
If the å warning lamp in the instrument
cluster lights up when the engine is running,
ESP ®
is deactivated or is unavailable due to a
malfunction. The risk that your vehicle may
start to skid then increases in certain situa-
tions.
Always adapt your driving style to the prevail-
ing road and weather conditions.

ted, the multifunction display shows the
Ä symbol if the HOLD function is not acti-
vated (Y page 162). Vehicles with Active Parking Assist:

PARKTRONIC is activated and you are driving
at a speed under 35 km/h, the jActive
Parking Assist symbol is shown instead of the
Ä symbol ( Ypage 166).

You can determine whether the multifunction
display shows some messages in miles or kil-
ometres.
X Press the =or; button on the steer-
ing wheel to selec tthe Settings menu.

Display messages
General notes
Display messages appear in th emultifunction display.
Display messages with graphic symbols are simplified in th eOwner's Manual and may differ
fro mt he symbols in the multifunction display.
Please respond in accordance with the display messages and follow the additional notes in
this Owner's Manual.
Certain display messages are accompanied by an audible warning tone or a continuous tone.
When you stop and park the vehicle, please observe the notes on the HOLD function
(Y page 162) and parking (Y page 144).Hiding display messages
You can hide a number of the low-priority display messages.
X Press the aor% button on the steering wheel to hide the display message.
The display message is cleared.
High-priority display messages are red.
You cannot hide display messages of the highest priority. The multifunction display shows
these messages continuously until the causes for the messages have been remedied. Message memory
The on-board computer saves certain display messages. You can call up the display messages
in the message memory.
X Press =or; on the steering wheel to select the Serv. menu.
If there are display messages, the multifunction displays hows2 messages , for example.
X Press the 9or: button to select the entry, e.g. 2 messages .
X Confirm with a.
X Press the 9or: button to scroll through the display messages.
When the ignition is switched off, all display messages are deleted apart from some high-
priority display messages. Once the causes of the high-priority display messages have been
rectified, the corresponding display messages are also deleted. Display messages

is deactivated or not operational, the vehicle's stability
during standard driving manoeuvres is reduced.
There is a risk of accident.
X Carefully drive on a suitable stretch of road, making slight steer-
ing movements, at a speed above 20 km/h.
If the display message disappears, the functions mentioned
above are available again.
If the display message continues to be displayed:
X Drive on carefully.
X Visit a qualified specialist workshop. !÷
