INTELLIGENT KEY OPERATING RANGE
The Intelligent Key functions can only be used
when the Intelligent Key is within the specified
operating range from the request switch
1.
When the Intelligent Key battery is discharged
or strong radio waves are present near the
operating location, the Intelligent Key system’s
operating range becomes narrower, and the
Intelligent Key may not function properly.
The operating range is within 31.50 in (80 cm)
from each request switch
1.
If the Intelligent Key is too close to the door
glass, handle or rear bumper the request
switches may not function.
When the Intelligent Key is within the operating
range, it is possible for anyone who does not
carry the Intelligent Key to push the request
switch to lock/unlock the doors and open the
trunk lid.
DOOR LOCKS/UNLOCKS PRECAUTION
● Do not push the door handle request switch
with the Intelligent Key held in your hand as
illustrated. The close distance to the door
handle will cause the Intelligent Key system
to have difficulty recognizing that the Intel-
ligent Key is outside the vehicle.
● After locking with the door handle request
switch, verify the doors are securely locked
by testing them.
● To prevent the Intelligent Key from being left
inside the vehicle or the trunk, make sure
you carry the key with you and then lock the
doors or the trunk.

BEFORE OPERATING THE RETRACTABLE
HARD TOP
The retractable hard top on this vehicle is
electrically operated. You can fully open or close the retractable hard top only by pushing
the operating switch located on the center
console.
The retractable hard top operating switch must
be operated under all of the following conditions.
●
When the vehicle is stopped
● When the engine is running
● When the separator is fixed in the position
separating the roof storage area and the
trunk room
● When the trunk lid is closed
CAUTION
Always keep the engine running while operating
the retractable hard top. Even if the engine stops,
the retractable hard top will also operate when the
ignition switch is in the ON position, but be sure to
run the engine to prevent battery discharge.
Be sure to follow the operating instructions and
all of the warnings and cautions in this section.
Improper operation of the retractable hard top
could cause a system malfunction, damage or
deterioration of the retractable hard top mate-
rial and related parts.
WARNING
●Park the vehicle in a safe and level location
and apply the parking brake.
● Make sure the parking area is clear of ob-
stacles and there is enough clearance over
the retractable hard top (for example, in a
garage or a covered area). More than ap-
proximately 6.6 ft (2 m) from the ground and
more than approximately 3.3 ft (1 m) from the
rear is required to open or close the retract-
able hard top safely. Otherwise, the top may
damage any objects above it while moving.
The retractable hard top operating system
could also be damaged.

3-18Pre-driving checks and adjustments
SymptomBeepPossible cause Possible solution
The retractable hard top stops halfway
during operation. Sounds twice
Objects are trapped in the moving structure of
the retractable hard top. Check that an object is not trapped inside the
rear parcel shelf, side flap and retractable hard
top. After the check, turn the ignition switch to
the OFF position, start the engine again and
then operate the retractable hard top.
Does not sound The battery voltage is low. Start the engine again and operate the retract-
able hard top.
Only the rear parcel shelf operates
when the OPEN side of the retractable
hard top operating switch is pushed. Sounds twice
every 10 sec- onds for 15 minutes. The retractable hard top control does not rec-
ognize the rear parcel shelf position because
of battery replacement or the contentious op-
eration of the retractable hard top. Perform the initialization of the retractable hard
top and operate the retractable hard top again.
For the initialization details, please refer to
“INITIALIZING OF THE RETRACTABLE HARD TOP”
in the “3. Pre-driving checks and adjustments”
section.
When the vehicle is being driven, the
beep sounds. Sounds con-
tinuously The retractable hard top is partially opened. Immediately park the vehicle in a safe location
and fully open or fully close the retractable
hard top.
When the engine is stopped, the beep
sounds. Sounds twice The retractable hard top is partially opened. Fully open or fully close the retractable hard
top.

DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) PLAYER
OPERATION (models with navigation
system)
Precautions
Start the engine when using the DVD entertain-
ment system.
Movies will not be shown on the front display
while the vehicle is in any drive position to
reduce driver distraction. Audio is available
when a movie is played. To view movies in the
front display, stop the vehicle in a safe location,
move the selector lever to the P (Park) position
(Automatic Transmission models) or apply the
parking brake (Manual Transmission models).
WARNING
●The driver must not attempt to operate the
DVD system or wear the headphones while
the vehicle is in motion so that full attention
may be given to vehicle operation.
● Do not attempt to modify the system to dis-
play a movie on the front screen while the
vehicle is being driven. Doing so may dis-
tract the driver and may cause a collision and
serious personal injury or death.
CAUTION
● Only operate the DVD while the vehicle en-
gine is running. Operating the DVD for ex-
tended periods of time with the engine OFF
can discharge the vehicle battery.
● Do not allow the system to get wet. Exces-
sive moisture such as spilled liquids may
cause the system to malfunction.
● While playing VIDEO-CD media, this DVD
player does not guarantee complete func-
tionality of all VIDEO-CD formats.
Display settings
To adjust the front display mode, push the
SETTING button while the DVD is being played,
select the “Others” key and then select the
“Display” key.
To adjust the display ON/OFF, brightness, tint,
color and contrast, select the “Display Adjust-
ment” key and then select each key.
Then you can adjust each item using the

made push the BACK button to save the setting.
4-58Monitor, climate, audio, phone and voice recognition systems
When installing a car phone or a CB radio in
your INFINITI, be sure to observe the following
cautions, otherwise the new equipment may
adversely affect the electronic control modules
and electronic control system harness.
WARNING
●A cellular telephone should not be used
while driving so full attention may be given
to vehicle operation. Some jurisdictions pro-
hibit the use of cellular telephones while
driving.
● If you must make a call while your vehicle is
in motion, the hands-free cellular phone op-
erational mode (if so equipped) is highly rec-
ommended. Exercise extreme caution at all
times so full attention may be given to ve-
hicle operation.
● If a conversation in a moving vehicle requires
you to take notes, pull off the road to a safe
location and stop your vehicle before doing
so.
CAUTION
● Keep the antenna as far away as possible
from the electronic control modules.
● Keep the antenna wire more than 8 in (20 cm)
away from the electronic control system har-
ness. Do not route the antenna wire next to
any harness.
● Adjust the antenna standing-wave ratio as
recommended by the manufacturer.
● Connect the ground wire from the CB radio
chassis to the body.
● For details, consult an INFINITI retailer.
WARNING
●Use a phone after stopping your vehicle in a
safe location. If you have to use a phone
while driving, exercise extreme caution at all
times so full attention may be given to ve-
hicle operation.
● If you find yourself unable to devote full at-
tention to vehicle operation while talking on
the phone, pull off the road to a safe location
and stop your vehicle before doing so.
CAUTION
To avoid draining the vehicle battery, use a
phone after starting the engine.

tery power of the cellular phone may dis-
charge quicker than usual.
● If the Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System
seems to be malfunctioning, please visit
www.InfinitiUSA.com/bluetooth for trouble-
shooting help.
● Some cellular phones or other devices may
cause interference or a buzzing noise to
come from the audio system speakers. Stor-
ing the device in a different location may
reduce or eliminate the noise.
● Refer to the cellular phone Owner’s Manual
regarding the telephone pairing procedure
specific to your phone, battery charging,
cellular phone antenna, etc.
● The antenna display on the monitor will not
coincide with the antenna display of some
cellular phones.
