When the smart key is in the vehicle, if
the ignition switch is depressed, the
indicator will illuminate for a few min-
utes to indicate that you will be able to
start the engine, and if the ignition
switch is turned to the ON position, theindicator will illuminate until the engine
is started. However, when the smart
key is not in the vehicle, if the ignition
switch is depressed, the indicator will
blink for a few minutes to indicate that
you will not be able to start the engine,
and the ignition switch is not rotated.
When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position from the ACC position
without the smart key in the vehicle,
the indicator light turns off after blink-ing.
When the ignition switch is turned to the ON position and the indicator turns
off after 2 seconds, the system may
have a problem. Have the vehicle
checked by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
When the battery is weak, if the igni- tion switch is depressed, the indicator
will blink and you will not be able to
start the engine. However, you may still
be able to start the engine by inserting
the smart key in the ignition switch. If
smart key system related parts have a
problem, the indicator blinks. D150318AEN-EELow fuel level warning light
This warning light indicates the fuel tank
is nearly empty. When it comes on, you
should add fuel as soon as possible.
Driving with the fuel level warning light on
or with the fuel level below “0/E” cancause the engine to misfire and damage
the catalytic converter.

Low washer fluid level
warning light (if equipped)
This warning light indicates the washer
fluid reservoir is near empty. Refill the
washer fluid as soon as possible. D150320BEN-EE
Malfunction indicator (MIL)
(check engine light)
(if equipped)
This indicator light is part of the Engine
Control System which monitors various
emission control system components. If
this light illuminates while driving, it indi-cates that a potential malfunction has
been detected somewhere in the emis-sion control system. This light will also illuminate when the
ignition switch is turned to the ON posi-
tion, and will go out in a few seconds
after the engine is started. If it illuminates
while driving, or does not illuminate when
the ignition switch is turned to the ON
position, take your vehicle to your near-
est authorized HYUNDAI dealer and
have the system checked.
Generally, your vehicle will continue to be
drivable, but have the system checked by
an authorized HYUNDAI dealer promptly.

the passengers and the loading weight inthe luggage area.
And it offers the proper headlight beam
under the various conditions.

To operate the headlight washer, turn the
knob to the ON position. It will operate
when the headlight switch is in the first or
second position and the ignition switch isin the ON position.
The washer fluid will be sprayed on to the
headlights.
✽✽NOTICE
Check the headlight washers periodi- cally to confirm that the washer fluid
is being sprayed properly onto the
headlight lenses.
The headlight washer may not work
temporarily if it freezes after a car
wash, rain or snow in the winter. But
it will work normally after it defrosts.

If it is not working properly even
though your car is inclined back-
ward according to passenger's
posture, or the headlight beam is
irradiated to the high or low posi-
tion, have your vehicle inspected
by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer. Don't attempt to inspect or replace
the wiring yourself to prevent mal-function.

Windshield washers
In the 0 (OFF) position, pull the lever
gently toward you to spray washer fluid
on the windshield and to run the wipers
1-3 cycles. Use this function when the windshield is
dirty. The spray and wiper operation will con-
tinue until you release the lever.
If the washer does not work, check the
washer fluid level. If the fluid level is not
sufficient, you will need to add appropri-
ate non-abrasive windshield washer fluid
to the washer reservoir.
The reservoir filler neck is located in the
front of the engine compartment on the
passenger side.
CAUTION
When washing the vehicle, set the
wiper switch in the 0 (OFF) position
to stop the auto wiper operation.
The wiper may operate and be dam-aged if the switch is set in the AUTO mode while washing the vehicle.
Do not remove the sensor coverlocated on the upper end of the pas-senger side windshield glass.Damage to system parts could occur and may not be covered by
your vehicle warranty.
When starting the vehicle in winter,set the wiper switch in the 0 (OFF)position. Otherwise, wipers mayoperate and ice may damage the
windshield wiper blades. Alwaysremove all snow and ice and defrostthe windshield properly prior tooperating the windshield wipers.

The rear window wiper and washer
switch is located at the end of the wiper
and washer switch lever. Turn the switch
to desired position to operate the rear

CAUTION
To prevent possible damage to thewasher pump, do not operate the
washer when the fluid reservoir isempty.

Do not use the washer in freezing
temperatures without first warming
the windshield with the defrosters;
the washer solution could freeze oncontact with the windshield and
obscure your vision.
CAUTION
To prevent possible damage to the wipers or windshield, do not
operate the wipers when thewindshield is dry.
To prevent damage to the wiper blades, do not use gasoline,kerosene, paint thinner, or other
solvents on or near them.
To prevent damage to the wiper arms and other components, donot attempt to move the wipers
manually.
