Emergency trunk safety releaseYour vehicle is equipped with an emer-
gency trunk release cable located inside
the trunk. The lever glows in the dark
when the trunk lid is closed. If someone
is inadvertently locked in the trunk,
pulling this handle will release the trunk
latch mechanism and open the trunk.
Trunk lid control switchThe trunk lid control switch is used to
prevent unauthorized access to the
trunk.
• When the trunk lid control switch isUNLOCK position ( ), the trunk can
be unlocked with the trunk lid release
button and the transmitter (or smart
key).
• When the trunk lid control switch is LOCK position ( ), the trunk can be
unlocked with the master key (or the
mechanical key of the smart key) only.

WARNING
• No one should be allowed tooccupy the trunk of the vehicle at
any time. If the trunk is partially
or totally latched and the person
is unable to get out, severe injury
or death could occur due to lack
of ventilation, exhaust fumes and
rapid heat build-up, or because of
exposure to cold weather condi-
tions. The trunk is also a highly
dangerous location in the event
of a crash because it is not a pro-
tected occupant space but mere-
ly a part of the vehicle’s crush
zone.
• Your vehicle should be kept locked and keys be kept out of
the reach of children. Parents
should teach their children about
the dangers of playing in trunks.

4Charging system warning
lightThis warning light indicates a malfunction
of either the generator or electrical
charging system.
If the warning light comes on while the
vehicle is in motion:
1. Drive to the nearest safe location.
2. With the engine off, check the genera- tor drive belt for looseness or break-
age.
3. If the belt is adjusted properly, a prob- lem exists somewhere in the electrical
charging system. Have an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer correct the problem
as soon as possible.Front fog light indicator (if equipped)This light comes on when the front fog
lights are ON.
Trunk lid open warninglightThis warning light illuminates when the
trunk lid is not closed securely with the
ignition in any position.Door open position indica-
torThis indicator illuminates when a door is
not closed securely.
The indicator displays which door is
opened.
Immobilizer indicator Without smart key system
This light illuminates when the immobiliz-
er key is inserted and turned to the ON
position to start the engine.
At this time, you can start the engine. The
light goes out after the engine is running.
If this light blinks when the ignition switch
is in the ON position before starting the
engine, have the system checked by an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
With smart key system (if equipped)
If any of the following occurs in a vehicle
equipped with the smart key, the immobi-
lizer indicator illuminates, blinks or the
light goes off.

Headlamp welcome functionWhen the headlight switch is in the ON or
AUTO position and all doors (and trunk)
are closed and locked, if you press the
door unlock button on the transmitter (or
the smart key), the headlights will come
on for about 15 seconds. At this time, if
you press the door lock button on the
transmitter (or smart key) the headlights
will turn off immediately.Daytime running light
(if equipped)Daytime Running Lights (DRL) can make
it easier for others to see the front of your
vehicle during the day. DRL can be help-
ful in many different driving conditions,
and it is especially helpful after dawn and
before sunset.
The DRL system will make the head-
lights turn OFF when:
1. The headlight is ON.
2. Engine stops.
Lighting controlThe light switch has a Headlight and a
Parking light position.
To operate the lights, turn the knob at the
end of the control lever to one of the fol-
lowing positions:
(1) OFF position
(2) Parking light position
(3) Headlight position
(4) Auto light position (if equipped)
Parking light position ( )When the light switch is in the parking
light position, the tail, position and
license lights are ON and the tail light
indicator is ON (if equipped).

4Room lampTo turn the room lamp ON or OFF, push
the switch or lens.
Trunk lampThe trunk room lamp comes on when the
trunk is opened.
Glove box lampWhen the ignition key is in the ignition
switch, the smart key is in the smart key
holder or the engine start/stop button is
in the ACC position, if the glove box is
opened, the glove box lamp will come on.

WARNING
- ENGINE EXHAUST CAN BE DANGEROUS!
Engine exhaust fumes can be extremely dangerous. If, at any time, you smell exhaust fumes inside the vehicle, open the win-
dows immediately.
• Do not inhale exhaust fumes.
Exhaust fumes contain carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas that can cause unconsciousness and death by asphyxia-
tion.
• Be sure the exhaust system does not leak. The exhaust system should be checked whenever the vehicle is raised to change the oil or for any other purpose. If you hear
a change in the sound of the exhaust or if you drive over something that strikes the underneath side of the car, have the
exhaust system checked as soon as possible by an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
• Do not run the engine in an enclosed area. Letting the engine idle in your garage, even with the garage door open, is a hazardous practice. Never run the engine in your
garage any longer than it takes to start the engine and back the car out.
• Avoid idling the engine for prolonged periods with people inside the car. If it is necessary to idle the engine for a prolonged period with people inside the car, be sure to do so only in an open area
with the air intake set at "Fresh" and fan operating at one of the higher speeds so fresh air is drawn into the interior.
If you must drive with the trunk lid open because you are carrying objects that make this necessary:
1. Close all windows.
2. Open side vents.
3. Set the air intake control at "Fresh", the air flow control at "Floor" or "Face" and the fan at one of the higher speeds.
To assure proper operation of the ventilation system, be sure the ventilation air intakes located just in front of the windshie ld are
kept clear of snow, ice, leaves or other obstructions.

Rear turn signal, stop and tail light,side marker1. Open the trunk lid.
2. Remove the service cover by pulling out the service cover. 3. Remove the socket from the assembly
by turning the socket counterclockwise
until the tabs on the socket align with
the slots on the assembly.
4. Remove the bulb from the socket by pressing it in and rotating it counter-
clockwise until the tabs on the bulb
align with the slots in the socket. Pull
the bulb out of the socket.
5. Insert a new bulb by inserting it into the socket and rotating it until it locks
into place.
6. Install the socket in the assembly by aligning the tabs on the socket with the
slots in the assembly. Push the socket
into the assembly and turn the socket
clockwise.
7. Install the service cover by putting it into the service hole.
Back-up lightIf the light is not operating, have the vehi-
cle checked by an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer.
