2FUEL RECOMMENDATIONS
B010F01A-AAT Operation in Foreign Countries If you are going to drive your Hyundai in another country, be sure to:
o Observe all regulations regardingregistration and insurance.
o Determine that acceptable fuel is available.
Unleaded petrol with a Pump Octane Rating of 87 (Research Octane Num- ber 91) or higher must be used inyour Hyundai. If leaded petrol is used, it will cause the catalytic converter to become ineffec- tive and the emission control system to malfunction. This can also result inincreased maintenance expense. To avoid accidental use of leaded fuel, the larger nozzle used with leaded petrolat service stations cannot be inserted into the fuel tank opening of your Hyundai.
B010A01A-DAT Use Unleaded Petrol
B010E01A-DATPetrol for Cleaner Air To help contribute to cleaner air, Hyundai recommends that you usepetrol treated with detergent additives, which help prevent deposit formation in the engine. This petrol will help theengine run cleaner and enhance per- formance of the Emission Control Sys- tem.
B010D01A-DAT Do not Use Methanol Fuels containing methanol (wood al- cohol) should not be used in your Hyundai. This type of fuel can reducevehicle performance and damage com- ponents of the fuel system.
! CAUTION:
Hyundai Warranty Policy will not cover the damage of the fuel sys- tem and performance problems that are caused by the use of methanolor fuels containing methanol.
B010B01A-AAT What About Gasohol [E-10]? Gasohol (a mixture of 90% unleaded gasoline and 10% ethanol or grainalcohol) may be used in your Hyundai. However, if your engine develops drive ability problems, the use of 100% un-leaded gasoline is recommended. Fu- els with unspecified quantities of alco- hol, or alcohols other than ethanol, should not be used.

B270A01A-AAT BRAKE PAD WEAR WARNING SOUND The front disc brake pads have wear indicators that should make a high-pitched squealing or scraping noise when new pads are needed. The sound may come and go or be heard all thetime when the vehicle is moving. It may also be heard when the brake pedal is pushed down firmly. Exces-sive rotor damage will result if the worn pads are not replaced. See your Hyundai dealer immediately.

DRIVING YOUR HYUNDAI
21USE OF LIGHTS
C180A01A-AAT Check your lights regularly for correct operation and always keep them clean. When driving during the day in condi- tions of poor visibility, it is helpful todrive with headlights on low beam. This enables you to be seen as well as to see.HIGH SPEED MOTORING
C170A01A-DAT Pre-Trip Inspections
1. Tyres: Adjust the tyre inflation pressures to specification. Low tyre inflation pres- sures will result in overheating and possible failure of the tyres. Avoidusing worn or damaged tyres which may result in reduced traction or tyre failure. NOTE: Never exceed the maximum tyre inflation pressure shown on the tyres.
2. Fuel, engine coolant and en gine oil:
High speed travel consumes more fuel than urban motoring. Do not forget tocheck both engine coolant and engine oil.
3. Drive belt: A loose or damaged drive belt may result in overheating of the engine.TRAILER OR VEHICLE TOW- ING
C190A01A-DAT If you are considering towing with your car, you should first check with your State Department of Motor Vehicles to determine their legal requirements.Since laws vary from state to state, the requirements for towing trailers, cars, or other types of vehicles or apparatusmay differ. Ask your Hyundai dealer for further details before towing.
! CAUTION :
Do not do any towing with your car during its first 2,000 km (1,200 miles) in order to allow the engine to prop-erly break in. Failure to heed this caution may result in serious en- gine or transaxle damage.

5VEHICLE MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS
4REGULAR SERVICING
F030A01A-DAT An odometer reading or time interval determines when service is necessary. For most people, the odometer reading will indicate when service is needed. If, however, you drive very little, your vehicle should be serviced at least every 12 months. Under severe driving conditions, more frequent maintenance is required.
