Security System Security Alarm System
Setting the Security Alarm System
■
The security alarm system automatically sets when the following conditions have been met:
The ignition switch is in LOCK
•
0, and the key has been removed from the
ignition switch. The hood is closed.
•
Both doors and the hatch are locked.
•
When the Security Alarm System Sets
■
The security system indicator in the instrument panel blinks. When the blinking interval changes after about 15 seconds, the security alarm system is set.
To Cancel the Security Alarm System
■
The security alarm system is canceled when the vehicle is unlocked using the key or remote transmitter. The security system indicator goes off at the same time.
Security Alarm System
Do not set the security alarm system when someone is in the vehicle or a window is open. The system can accidentally activate when unlocking the door with the lock tab or the master door lock switch. If the 12 volt battery goes dead after you have set the security alarm system, the security alarm may go off once the battery is recharged or replaced.If this occurs, deactivate the security alarm system by unlocking a door using the key or remote transmitter. Do not attempt to alter this system or add another device to it.

You cannot take the key out unless the shift lever is

On all models If you open the driver's door when the key is in LOCK or ACCESSORY , a warning buzzer will
sound to remind you to take the key out. If the key won't turn from LOCK
to ACCESSORY , turn the key while moving the steering wheel
left and right. The steering wheel will unlock, allowing the key to turn.
WARNING
Removing the key from the ignition switch locks the steering. If you do this while the vehicle is in motion, you can lose control of the vehicle. Only remove the key from the ignition switch when parked.

ON : Th is is the position when driving.

Rear Wiper/Washer

The rear wiper and washer can be used when the ignition switch is in ON

The wiper operates intermittently after completing a few sweeps.

Sprays while you rotate the switch to this position.Hold it to activate the wiper and to spray the washer. Once released, it stops operating after a few more sweeps.
Operating in Reverse

When you shift the transmission to
R with the front wiper activated, the rear wiper
operates automatically as follows even if its switch is off.

Wipers and Washers
If the wiper stops operating due to any obstacle such as the build-up of snow, park the vehicle in a safe place. Rotate the wiper switch to OFF, and turn the ignition switch to ACCESSORY
or LOCK ,
then remove the obstacle. The wiper motor is equipped with a breaker that may stop motor operation temporarily to prevent an overload. Wiper operation will return to normal within a few minutes, once the circuit has returned to normal.

Adjusting the Steering Wheel
Make any steering wheel adjustments before you start driving.
WARNING
Adjusting the steering wheel position while driving may cause you to lose control of the vehicle and be seriously injured in a crash. Adjust the steering wheel only when the vehicle is stopped.
The steering wheel height and distance from your body can be adjusted so that you can comfortably grip the steering wheel in an appropriate driving posture. 1. Pull the steering wheel adjustment lever up.

Adjusting the Seats
Adjusting the Seat PositionAdjust the driver’s seat as far back as possible while allowing you to maintain full control of the vehicle. You should be able to sit upright,
well back in the seat and be able to adequately press the pedals without leaning forward, and grip the steering wheel comfortably. The
passenger’s seat should be adjusted in a similar manner, so that it is as far back from the front airbag in the dashboard as possible.
Move back.
Allow suficient space.
Adjusting the Seats
The National Highway Trafic Safety Administration and Transport Canada recommend that drivers
allow at least 10 inches (25 cm) between the center of the steering wheel and their chest. Always make seat adjustments before driving.Once a seat is adjusted correctly, rock it back and forth to make sure it is locked in position.
WARNING
Sitting too close to a front airbag can result in serious injury or death if the front airbags inflate. Always sit as far back from the front airbags as possible while maintaining control of the vehicle.

Head Restraints

Your vehicle is equipped with head restraints in both seating positions. However, they are non-adjustable.Head restraints are effective for protection against whiplash and other rear-impact crash injuries.
Removing and Installing the Head Restraint for Cleaning
■
To remove the head restraint:
1. Unhook the strap on the outside edge of the seat-back.Pull out the strap throughout the band

Interior Light Switch

Front interior lights are located between the sun visors. Rear interior lights are located at the back corner of each rear window.

The interior lights come on regardless of whether the doors are open or closed. Door Activated

The interior lights come on in the following situations:
When either of the doors are opened.

You unlock the driver’s door.
•
You remove the key from the ignition

switch.
OFF
■
The interior lights remain off regardless of whether the doors are open or closed. Each front interior light can be used as a map light. Each light can be turned on and off by pressing the lenses.
Interior Lights
In the door activated position, the interior lights fade out and go off about 30 seconds after the doors are closed.The lights go off after 30 seconds in the following situations: When you unlock the driver's door but do not

open it.When you remove the key from the ignition

switch but do not open a door.
The interior lights go off immediately in the following situations: When you lock the driver's door.

When you close the driver's door with the key in

the ignition switch. When you turn the ignition switch to ON

If you leave either door open without the key in th e
ignition switch, the interior lights go off after a bout
15 minutes. You can change the interior lights dimming time.

Rear trays to store small items are located on the rear cargo console. To access the rear cargo console, open the door, slide the seat by pulling up on the bar, then pull up on the seat-back adjustment lever.

Make sure all items on the rear trays are secured. They could be thrown around and cause injury during a crash. To return the separator upright, push it backwards until it locks. Make sure that the folded separator does not press against the passenger seat, as this could cause the weight sensors to work improperly.
