The following indicator lights come
on the instrument panel when
activated and also appear on
the HUD:
.Turn Signal Indicators
.High-Beam Indicator Symbol
The HUD temporarily displays
CHECK GAGES and ICE
POSSIBLE when these messages
are on the DIC trip computer.
The HUD also displays the following
messages on vehicles with these
systems, when they are active:
.TRACTION CONTROL ACTIVE
.STABILITRAK ACTIVE
Notice: If you try to use the
HUD image as a parking aid, you
may misjudge the distance and
damage your vehicle. Do not use
the HUD image as a parking aid.
When the HUD is on, the
speedometer reading is continually
displayed. The current radio station or CD track number will display
for a short period of time after
the radio or CD track status
changes. This happens whenever
radio information is changed.
The speedometer size is reduced
when radio, CD information,
warnings, or turn-by-turn navigation
information are displayed on
the HUD.
The HUD control is located to the
right of the steering wheel.
To adjust the HUD image so that
items are properly displayed, do the
following:
1. Adjust the driver's seat to a
comfortable position.
2. Start the engine.
3. Adjust the HUD controls.
Use the following settings to adjust
the HUD.
9 (Off): To turn HUD off, rotate the
dimming knob fully counterclockwise
until the HUD display turns off.
Brightness : Turn the knob
on the HUD control clockwise or
counterclockwise to brighten or
dim the display.
w (Up) : x(Down) : Press the up
or down arrows to center the HUD
image in your view. The HUD image
can only be adjusted up and down,
not side to side.

All formats will show the
turn-by-turn navigation information
and provide details about the
next driving maneuver to be made.
When you near your destination,
the HUD will display a distance
bar that will fill in the closer you get
to your destination. All navigation
information is provided to the HUD
by the navigation radio, if the
vehicle has one.
The HUD image displayed on the
windshield will automatically dim
and brighten to compensate for
outside lighting.
The HUD image can temporarily
light up depending on the angle
and position of the sunlight on the
HUD display. This is normal and
will change when the angle of
the sunlight on the HUD display
changes.
Polarized sunglasses could make
the HUD image harder to see.Care of the HUD
Clean the inside of the windshield
as needed to remove any dirt or film
that could reduce the sharpness or
clarity of the HUD image.
To clean the HUD lens, use a soft,
clean cloth that has household glass
cleaner sprayed on it. Wipe the
HUD lens gently, then dry it. Do not
spray cleaner directly on the lens
because the cleaner could leak
into the unit.
If You Cannot See the HUD
Image When the Ignition Is On
.Is anything covering the
HUD lens?
.Is the HUD dimmer setting bright
enough?
.Is the HUD image adjusted to
the proper height?
.Are you wearing polarized
sunglasses?
.Still no HUD image? Check the
fuse in the instrument panel fuse
block. SeeInstrument Panel
Fuse Block on page 10‑35.
If the HUD Image Is Not Clear
.Is the HUD image too bright?
.Are the windshield and HUD
lens clean?
If the HUD image is not correct,
contact your dealer.
Keep in mind that the windshield is
part of the HUD system.

.Set up the tone, speaker
adjustments, and preset

The vehicle has Retained
Accessory Power (RAP). With RAP,
the audio system can be played
even after the ignition is turned
off. See Retained Accessory
Power (RAP) on page 9‑21

Navigation/Radio System
For vehicles with a navigation radio
system, see the separate Navigation
System manual.
Theft-Deterrent Feature
TheftLock®is designed to
discourage theft of the vehicle's
radio by learning a portion of the
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
The radio does not operate if it
is stolen or moved to a different
vehicle.

c(Stop):Press to stop playing,
rewinding, or fast forwarding a DVD.
r(Enter): Press to select the
choices that are highlighted in
any menu.
y(Menu): Press to access the
DVD menu. The DVD menu is
different on every DVD. Use the
softkeys under the navigation
arrows to navigate the cursor
through the DVD menu. After
making a selection press this
button. This button only operates
when using a DVD.
Nav (Navigate): Press to display
directional arrows for navigating
through the menus.
q(Return): Press to exit the
current active menu and return to
the previous menu. This button
operates only when a DVD is
playing and a menu is active. DVD-A (Audio) Display Buttons
Once a DVD-A is inserted, the radio
display menu shows several icons.
Press the softkeys under any icon
during DVD playback. See the icon
list below for more information.
The rear seat operator can
navigate the DVD-A menus and
controls through the remote control.

“Remote Control”, under
Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE)
System on page 7‑39 for more
information. The Video Screen does
not automatically power on when
the DVD-A is inserted into the DVD
slot. It must be manually turned on
by the rear seat occupant through
the remote control power button.
r/j(Play/Pause): Press either
the play or pause icon displayed on
the radio system, to toggle between
pausing or restarting playback of
a DVD.
.If the forward arrow is showing
on display, the system is in
pause mode.
.If the pause icon is showing
on display, the system is in
playback mode.
qGroupr: Press to cycle
through musical groupings on
the DVD-A disc.
Nav (Navigate): Press to display
directional arrows for navigating
through the menus.
e(Audio Stream): Press to
cycle through audio stream
formats located on the DVD-A disc.
The video screen shows the audio
stream changing.

Inserting a Disc
To play a disc, gently insert the
disc, with the label side up, into the
loading slot. The DVD player might
not accept some paper labeled
media. The player starts loading
the disc into the system and shows
“Loading Disc”on the radio display.
At the same time, the radio displays
a softkey menu of option(s). Some
discs automatically play the movie
while others default to the softkey
menu display, which requires the
Play, Enter, or Navigation softkeys
to be pressed; either by the softkey
on the radio or by the rear seat
passenger using the remote control.
It may take up to 30 seconds for a
DVD to begin playing. Stopping and Resuming Playback
To stop playing a DVD without
turning off the system, do one of
the following:
.Presscon the remote control.
.Press the softkey under the
stop or the play/pause icons
displayed on the radio.
.If the radio head is sourced to
something other than DVD-V,
press the DVD/CD AUX button
to make DVD-V the active
source.
To resume DVD playback, do one of
the following:
.Pressr/jon the remote
control.
.Press the softkey under the
play/pause icon displayed on
the radio. The DVD should resume play from
where it last stopped if the disc
has not been ejected and the stop
button has not been pressed twice
on the remote control. If the disc
has been ejected or the stop button
has been pressed twice on the
remote control, the disc resumes
playing at the beginning of the disc.
Ejecting a Disc
Press
ZDVD on the radio to eject
the disc. If a disc is ejected from the
radio, but not removed, the radio
reloads the disc after a short period
of time. The disc is stored in the
radio. The radio does not resume
play of the disc automatically.
If the movie is reloaded and the
RSA system is sourced to the
DVD, the player begins to play
again. If loading and reading a
DVD or CD cannot be completed,
and the disc fails to eject, press
and hold
ZDVD for more than
five seconds to force the disc to
eject.

The infrared receivers for the
wireless headphones and the
remote control are located at the
rear of the overhead console.
Notice:Avoid directly touching
the video screen, as damage may
occur. See “Cleaning the Video
Screen” later in this section for
more information.
Remote Control
To use the remote control, aim it at
the transmitter window at the rear of
the overhead console and press the desired button. Direct sunlight or
very bright light could affect the
ability of the RSE transmitter to
receive signals from the remote
control. If the remote control
does not seem to be working, the
batteries might need to be replaced.
See
“Battery Replacement” later in
this section. Objects blocking the
line of sight could also affect the
function of the remote control.
If a CD or DVD is in the Radio DVD
slot, the remote control
Obutton
can be used to turn on the video
screen display and start the disc.
The radio can also turn on the video
screen display. See Operation on
page 7‑2 for more information.
Notice: Storing the remote
control in a hot area or in direct
sunlight can damage it, and the
repairs will not be covered by the
warranty. Storage in extreme cold
can weaken the batteries. Keep
the remote control stored in a
cool, dry place. Remote Control Buttons
O(Power):
Press to turn the video
screen on and off.
P(Illumination): Press to turn
the remote control backlight on.
The backlight automatically times
out after seven to ten seconds if no
other button is pressed while the
backlight is on.
v(Title): Press to return the DVD
to the main menu of the DVD. This
function could vary for each disc.
y(Main Menu): Press to access
the DVD menu. The DVD menu is
different on every DVD. Use the
navigation arrows to move the
cursor around the DVD menu.
After making a selection press
the enter button. This button only
operates when using a DVD.
n,q,p,o(Menu Navigation
Arrows): Use the arrow buttons to
navigate through a menu.
r(Enter): Press to select
the choice that is highlighted in
any menu.

operation of the infotainment
and navigation system.
.Pair cell phone(s) to the vehicle.
The system may not work with
all cell phones. See“Pairing”in
this section for more information.
.If the cell phone has voice
dialing capability, learn to use
that feature to access the
address book or contact list.

or too often at the screen of
the phone or the infotainment

your eyes off the road too long
or too often could cause a crash
resulting in injury or death. Focus
your attention on driving.
A Bluetooth system can use a
Bluetooth‐capable cell phone with
a Hands‐Free Profile to make and
receive phone calls. The system
can be used while the key is in the
ON/RUN or ACC/ACCESSORY
position. The range of the Bluetooth
system can be up to 9.1 m (30 ft).
Not all phones support all functions,
and not all phones are guaranteed
to work with the in-vehicle Bluetooth
system. See www.gm.com/bluetooth
for more information on compatible
phones.
Voice Recognition
The Bluetooth system uses voice
recognition to interpret voice
commands to dial phone numbers
and name tags.
For additional information, say
“Help” while you are in a voice
recognition menu.
Noise: Keep interior noise levels to
a minimum. The system may not
recognize voice commands if there
is too much background noise.
When to Speak: A short tone
sounds after the system responds
indicating when it is waiting for a
voice command. Wait until the tone
and then speak.
How to Speak: Speak clearly in a
calm and natural voice.

Rear Vision
Camera (RVC)
The vehicle may have a Rear Vision
Camera system. Read this entire
section before using it.
{WARNING
The Rear Vision Camera (RVC)
system does not replace driver
vision. RVC does not:
.Detect objects that are
outside the camera's field
of view, below the bumper,
or underneath the vehicle.
.Detect children, pedestrians,
bicyclists, or pets.(Continued)

Do not back the vehicle by only
looking at the RVC screen, or use
the screen during longer, higher
speed backing maneuvers or
where there could be cross-traffic.
Your judged distances using the
screen will differ from actual
distances.
If you do not use proper care
before backing up, you could
hit a vehicle, child, pedestrian,
bicyclist, or pet, resulting in
vehicle damage, injury, or death.
Even though the vehicle has
the RVC system, always check
carefully before backing up by
checking behind and around the
vehicle.
Vehicles Without Navigation
System
The rear vision camera system is
designed to help the driver when
backing up by displaying a view
of the area behind the vehicle.
When the key is in the ON/RUN
position and the driver shifts the
vehicle into R (Reverse), the video
image automatically appears on
the inside rear view mirror. Once
the driver shifts out of R (Reverse),
the video image automatically
disappears from the inside rear
view mirror.
