Inside the vehicle:
Pull the lever Atowards you.
Outside the vehicle:
Lift the lever Blocated under thefront edge close to the centre of
the bonnet then lift the bonnet.

A
ANTI-INTRUSION ALARM
Your vehicle may be equipped with
an ANTI-INTRUSION ALARM. Thisprovides:Exterior perimeter protection
by means of detectors on the
vehicle access points (doors,
boot, bonnet) as well as on the electrical supply.
Interior volumetric protection
by means of ultrasonic sensors (detecting movement inside thepassenger compartment). This can be deactivated using thecontrol1.

The installation also has a siren,
and a warning lamp on the con-
trol1 which is visible from outside
the vehicle, indicating the three
possible statuses of the alarm:Alarm not active (disarmed),
warning lamp off.
Alarm active
(armed), the
warning lamp fl ashes slowly.
Alarm tri
ggered (signalling an
intrusion), the warning lamp
fl ashes rapidly if the alarm is deactivated by a press on thecontrol A. It stops as soon as you switch on the ignition.Note: If there is a malfunction,
the warning lamp remains perma-nently on.

DEACTIVATION OF THE
ALARM USNG THE REMOTE
CONTROL
The alarm is disarmed when youunlock the vehicle (with a press onbutton Aon the remote control).
DEACTIVATION OF THEALARM WITH THE KEY
Unlock the doors with the key. Thesiren triggers. Enter the vehicle,
insert the key in the ignition and
turn it to the drive position to stopthe siren. Otherwise the siren
will continue for approximately30 seconds.

To release the bonnet, pull the con-
trol located under the dashboardtowards you.
Lift the leverA located under the bonnet close to the centre, then pull.
To close
Lower the bonnet carefully, then let it drop shut.
When the engine is hot, handle the lever A with care(risk of burns).
Check that the bonnet is properly secured.

Air fi lter

Screen wash and
headlamp wash fl uid
Use CITROËN-approved products wherever possible.

Engine coolant
The fl uid level should be between the marks MIN.and
MAX. on the header tank.
Engine hot, wait at least
15 minutes.

Never do anything relating to
the cooling system of an engine
that is hot.

starting with a slave battery

Engine oil
Check the engine oil level on
horizontal ground with theengine having been switchedoff for at least 30 minutes.
It is normal to top up the engine oilbetween two services. The manu-facturer recommends that the oil bechecked and topped up if necessaryevery 3 000 miles (5 000 Km).

Power steering andsuspension oil
For topping up, it is neces-sary to go to a CITROËN pp g p,
dealer or a qualifi ed workshop.

If opening the bonnet when the engine is hot, even if it is stopped and the ignition is switched off, remember thatthe cooling fan may operate at any moment.
Between routine servicing visits, check the level of engine oil frequently as well as before going on a longjourney.

TOPPING UP ENGINE OIL
Before fi lling, pull out the dipstick.
Check the dipstick after fi lling.
It must never exceed the maximum.
Screw the cap back on and close
the bonnet.

LEVELS
RADIATOR – COOLANT FLUID
Checking the level and topping up
with fl uid must always be done with
the engine cold.
Engine hot
Wait 15 minutes or for the tempe-
rature to be lower than 100 °C and
then carefully unscrew the cap so as
to allow the pressure to drop, pro-
tectin
g yourself with, for example, a cloth.
Topping up the coolant
The level of coolant1 should bebetween theMIN.and MAX.mar-kings on the header tank.
To
p up the level. If more than 1 litre
is added, have the cooling systemchecked by a CITROËN dealer or ,gy
a qualifi ed workshop.
Make sure that the cap is back
on properly.Note:If you need to top up the fl uid frequently, this indicates a malfunc-tion which you should get checked
at the earliest opportunity.
Remark: The cooling fan mayoperate for around 10 minutesafter the engine has stopped.

12 V BATTERY
STARTING THE ENGINE WITH AN ASSISTING BATTERY
If the battery is discharged, it is possible to use either
a separate emergency battery or a battery on another
vehicle.
If you use the battery on another vehicle, stop the engine on the latter. The two vehicles must not come
into direct contact with each other.
Check that the assisting battery has suffi cient voltage (12 V).
Connect the cables according to the orderindicated in rthe diagram.
A Pole "+" on the vehicle being assisted (under the
red cover).

Check that the leads are well secured (risk of sparks).
Start the engine of the assisting vehicle. Let the engine
run for around 1 minute at a slightly accelerated idle.
Operate the starter on the vehicle being assisted.
It is essential to follow the indicated sequencecorrectly.
Never approach with a fl ame or create sparks in the vicinity of the battery (explosive gas).
The battery contains dilute sulphuric acid which is highly corrosive.
When handling batteries, always protect your face and especially your eyes.
In the event of any contact with the skin, rinse immediately with copious amounts of fresh water.
ADVICE
Do not touch the leads during the operation.
Do not lean over the batteries.
Disconnect the cables in reverse order, making sure
they do not touch together.
