3. Turn off the engine and do not restart whilethe vehicle is raised.
4. Do not allow passengers to remain in the vehicle.
To be even more certain the vehicle will not move,
you should put blocks at the front and rear of the
tire farthest away from the one being changed.
That would be the tire on the other side, at the
opposite end of the vehicle.
When the vehicle has a flat tire (B), use the following
example as a guide to assist you in the placement of
wheel blocks (A).

Vehicle Identification
Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
This legal identifier is in the front corner of the
instrument panel, on the driver side. It can be seen
through the windshield from outside. The VIN also
appears on the Vehicle Certification and Service Parts
labels and certificates of title and registration.
Engine Identification
The eighth character in the VIN is the engine code. This
code identifies the vehicle's engine, specifications, and
replacement parts. See“Engine Specifications”under
Capacities and Specifications
on page 6‑107for the
vehicle's engine code.
Service Parts Identification Label
This label, on the inside of the glove box, has the
following information:
.Vehicle Identification Number (VIN)
.Model designation
.Paint information
.Production options and special equipment
Do not remove this label from the vehicle.

Fuses and Circuit Breakers
The wiring circuits in the vehicle are protected from
short circuits by a combination of fuses, circuit breakers
and fusible thermal links. This greatly reduces the
chance of damage caused by electrical problems.
Look at the silver-colored band inside the fuse. If the
band is broken or melted, replace the fuse. Be sure you
replace a bad fuse with a new one of the identical size
and rating.
If you ever have a problem on the road and do not have
a spare fuse, you can“borrow”one that has the
same amperage. Just pick some feature of the vehicle
that you can get along without —like the radio or
cigarette lighter —and use its fuse if it is the
correct amperage. Replace it as soon as you can.
There are two fuse blocks in the vehicle: the floor
console fuse block and the engine compartment fuse
block.
There are also one or two fuses located at the back of
the vehicle near the battery.
Floor Console Fuse Block
The floor console fuse block is located on the
passenger side of the floor console behind the forward
panel. The panel has four clips, one in each corner. Pull
the panel to disconnect the four clips, and access the
fuses. Use the fuse puller to remove fuses.
