CAUTION
■Precautions for the Remote Air Conditioning System
Do not use the system if people are in the vehicle.
● Even when the system is in use, the internal temperature may still reach a
high level due to features such as the automatic shut-off. Children and
pets left inside the vehicle may suffer heatstroke or dehydration, or could
result in death or serious injury.
● The wipers can be operated during system operation. Children or pets left
inside the vehicle may mistakenly operate these and cause an accident.
● Turn the wipers off. If the Remote Air Conditioning System operates while
the wiper switch is in the on position, the wipers may operate and objects
may get caught in the wiper blades.
● Do not operate the if the hood is open. The air conditioning may
operate unintentionally and objects may be drawn into the electrical cool-
ing fan.
● Depending on the surrounding environment , signals from the wireless
switch may transmit further than expected. Pay appropriate attention to
the vehicle’s surroundings and use the switch only when necessary.
NOTICE
■ To prevent the hybrid battery (tractio n battery) from being discharged
through incorrect operation
Use the only when necessary.

Rear window and outside rear view mirror defoggers
Clear the rear window using the def ogger. (Turning the rear window
defogger on will turn the outside rear view mirror defoggers on. The
outside rear view mirror is used to remove raindrops, dew and frost
from the outside rear view mirrors. ) (vehicles with mirror defoggers)
The defoggers will automati-
cally turn off after approxi-
mately 15 minutes. Pressing
the switch again also turns the

■Automatic adjustment of volume
When vehicle speed is 50 mph (80 km/h) or more, the volume automatically
increases. The volume returns to the previous volume setting when vehicle
speed drops to 43 mph (70 km/h) or less.
■ When using a voice command
● For numbers, say a combination of single digits from zero to nine, #
(pound), (star), and + (plus).
● Say a command correctly and clearly.
■ The system may not recognize your voice in the following situations:
● When driving on a rough road
● When driving at high speeds
● When air is blowing out of the vents onto the microphone
● When the air conditioning fan emits a loud noise
■ The following cannot be performed while driving:

CAUTION
The engine compartment contains many mechanisms and fluids that may
move suddenly, become hot, or become electrically energized. To avoid death
or serious injury observe the following precautions.
■When working on the engine compartment
● Keep hands, clothing, and tools away from the moving fan.
● Be careful not to touch the engine, power control unit, radiator, exhaust
manifold, etc. right after driving as they may be hot. Oil and other fluids
may also be hot.
● Do not leave anything that may burn easily, such as paper or rags, in the
engine compartment.
● Do not smoke, cause sparks or expose an open flame to fuel. Fuel fumes
are flammable.
● Never touch, disassemble, remove or replace the high voltage parts,
cables and their connectors. It can cause severe burns or electric shock
that may result in death or serious injury.
● When the hybrid system is operating with the “READY” indicator on, the
engine may suddenly start in some cases. When you inspect the engine
compartment, be sure to turn off the hybrid system.
■ When working near the electric cooling fan or radiator grille
Be sure the “POWER” switch is OFF.
With the “POWER” switch in ON mode, the electric cooling fan may automat-
ically start to run if the air conditioning is on and/or the coolant temperature
is high. ( P. 432)
■ Safety glasses
Wear safety glasses to prevent flying or falling material, fluid spray, etc. from
getting in the eyes.
