Procedure for charging your battery

Access to the battery Starting using another battery
C o n n e c t t h e r e d c a b l e t o t h e p o s i -
t i v e t e r m i n a l ( + ) o f t h e fl a t b a t t e r y A ,
then to the positive terminal (+) of
the slave battery B .
Connect one end of the green or
black cable to the negative terminal
( - ) o f t h e s l a v e b a t t e r y B .
Connect the other end of the green
or black cable to the earth point C
o n y o u r v e h i c l e ( e n g i n e m o u n t i n g ) .
O p e r a t e t h e s t a r t e r , l e t t h e e n g i n e
r u n .
Wait until the engine returns to idle
a n d d i s c o n n e c t t h e c a b l e s .
T h e b a t t e r y i s l o c a t e d u n d e r t h e b o n n e t .

open the bonnet using the interior
r e l e a s e l e v e r , t h e n t h e e x t e r i o r s a f e -
t y c a t c h ,
s e c u r e t h e b o n n e t s t a y ,
r e m o v e t h e p l a s t i c c o v e r t o g a i n a c -
c e s s t o t h e t w o t e r m i n a l s ,
u n c l i p t h e f u s e b o x t o r e m o v e t h e
b a t t e r y , i f n e c e s s a r y .

Position the open clip 1 of the cable
on the positive terminal (+) of the
b a t t e r y .
Press vertically on the clip 1 t o p o s i -
t i o n i t c o r r e c t l y a g a i n s t t h e b a t t e r y .
Lock the clip by lowering the tab 2 .

be possible if the clip is not positioned

Charging the battery using a

vided by the manufacturer of the
c h a r g e r .
R e c o n n e c t s t a r t i n g w i t h t h e n e g a -
t i v e t e r m i n a l ( - ) .
C h e c k t h a t t h e t e r m i n a l s a n d c o n -
n e c t o r s a r e c l e a n . I f t h e y a r e c o v -
ered with sulphate (whitish or
g r e e n i s h d e p o s i t ) , r e m o v e t h e m a n d
c l e a n t h e m .
I t i s a d v i s a b l e t o d i s c o n n e c t
the battery if the vehicle is to
be left unused for more than
o n e m o n t h . Before disconnecting the battery
W a i t 2 m i n u t e s a f t e r s w i t c h i n g o f f t h e i g -
n i t i o n b e f o r e d i s c o n n e c t i n g t h e b a t t e r y .
C l o s e t h e w i n d o w s a n d t h e d o o r s b e -
f o r e d i s c o n n e c t i n g t h e b a t t e r y .
Following reconnection of the
battery
F o l l o w i n g r e c o n n e c t i o n o f t h e b a t t e r y ,
s w i t c h o n t h e i g n i t i o n a n d w a i t 1 m i n -
ute before starting to permit initialisation
o f t h e e l e c t r o n i c s y s t e m s . H o w e v e r , i f
p r o b l e m s r e m a i n f o l l o w i n g t h i s o p e r a -
t i o n , c o n t a c t a P E U G E O T d e a l e r .
