PETROL - DIESEL, MANUAL OR AUTOMATIC GEARBOX,
INSTRUMENT PANELS
Panel which groups together the vehicle
operation dials and indicator lamps.
5. Screen.
6. Display zero reset button.
Resets the selected function to zero (trip distance recorder or service in-
dicator).
7. Instrument panel lighting button.
Adjusts the brightness of the lighting of the instruments and controls.
8. Automatic gearbox.
Indicates the programme selected and the gear engaged.
Dials
1. Rev counter.
Indicates the speed of rotation of the engine (x 1 000 rpm).
2. Fuel gauge.
Indicates the quantity of fuel remain- ing in the tank.
3. Coolant temperature.
Indicates the temperature of the en- gine coolant (°Celsius).
4. Speedometer.
Indicates the current speed of the moving vehicle (mph or km/h).

To exit this programme, press the "vis-
ibility" button again or the "AUTO"
button, the indicator lamp on the button
switches off and "AUTO" is displayed.

Press the "small fan" button until
the fan symbol disappears.
This action deactivates all of the func-
tions of the air conditioning system.
The temperature is no longer main-
tained at a comfortable level. However,
a s l i g h t fl o w o f a i r , d u e t o t h e m o v e m e n t
of the vehicle, can still be felt.
Press the "large fan" button again
or the "AUTO" button to reactivate
the system with the values which
were set before it was deactivated.
Press this button to recir-
culate the interior air. The
air recirculation symbol is
displayed.
5. Air conditioning On/Off
Avoid driving for too long with the
air conditioning deactivated.
Avoid prolonged operation in inte-
rior air recirculation mode (risk of
condensation and of deterioration
of the air quality).

- the central and side vents,
- the central vents, the side vents and the footwells,
- the footwells.
Press the "large fan"
button to increase the air

progressively in relation to the value re-
quired. Air recirculation prevents exterior odours
and smoke from entering the passenger
compartment.
As soon as possible, press this button
again to permit the intake of exterior
air and prevent misting.
For maximum cooling or heating of
the passenger compartment, you
can exceed the minimum value of
14 or the maximum value of 28.
Turn dial 2 or 3 to the left until
"LO" is displayed or to the right
until "HI" is displayed.
Resuming manual control
Depending on your requirements, you
can make a different selection from that
offered by the system by changing a
setting. The other functions will still be
controlled automatically.
Press the "AUTO" button to return
to fully automatic operation.
Switching the system off may result in
discomfort (humidity, condensation).
Press the button again to return to
automatic operation of the air con-

WINDOW CONTROLS
System which opens or closes a window
m a n u a l l y o r a u t o m a t i c a l l y . I t i s fi t t e d w i t h
a system which controls all four windows
on all models.
1. Driver's electric windows switch.
2.
Passenger's electric windows switch.
Each window switch controls, on its
own side, the front window and the rear
quarter light. One-touch electric windows
You have two options:
The windows (except the driver’s
window) do not have an automatic
mode or safety anti-pinch function
for closing.
For your safety, the windows rise
in several stages; however, always
be vigilant.
The window control switches re-
main operational for approximate-
ly 45 seconds after the ignition
is switched off or until a door is
opened.
Press or pull switch 1 . The
window stops as soon as the
switch is released.
The rear quarter light only opens once the
front window has opened completely.
Electric windows
- manual mode
Press or pull switch 1 gently. The
window stops as soon as the switch
is released.
The rear quarter light only opens once the
front window has opened completely.
- automatic mode
Press switch 1 fully. The window
opens or closes completely when
the switch is released.
Pressing the switch again stops the
movement of the window.
If you continue to press the switch,
the rear quarter light will open or
close.

VISIBILITY
Do not cover the sunshine sensor,
located in the centre of the wind-
screen behind the rear view mirror;
the associated functions would no
longer be controlled.
Coupling with the "Guide-me-home"
lighting
Association with the automatic illumination of
headlamps provides the "guide-me-home"
lighting with the following additional options:
-
selection of the lighting duration to 15, 30
or 60 seconds in the vehicle parameters
o n t h e m u l t i f u n c t i o n s c r e e n c o n fi g u r a -
tion menu,
- automatic activation of "guide-me- home" lighting when automatic illumi-
nation of headlamps is in operation.
Automatic illumination of headlamps
The sidelamps and dipped beam head-
lamps are switched on automatically, with-
out any action on the part of the driver,
when a low level of external light is detect-
e d ( s e n s o r b e h i n d t h e r e a r v i e w m i r r o r ) .
A s s o o n a s t h e b r i g h t n e s s r e t u r n s t o a s u f fi c i e n t
level, the lighting is switched off automatically.
"Guide-me-home" lighting
The dipped beam headlamps remain on
temporarily, after switching off the vehi-
cle's ignition, to make the driver's exit
easier in poor light.
Activation
With the ignition off, activate a
" h e a d l a m p fl a s h " u s i n g s t a l k B .
A s e c o n d " h e a d l a m p fl a s h " s w i t c h e s
the function off again.

switched off automatically following the
door locking command, after a given
time. Activation
Turn ring A to the "AUTO" position.
The automatic lighting is accompanied
by a message on the multifunction
screen.
In fog or snow, the sunshine sensor
m a y d e t e c t s u f fi c i e n t l i g h t . T h e r e f o r e ,
the lighting will not be switched on auto-
matically. The dipped beam headlamps
must be switched on manually.

nied by a message on the multifunction

SAFETY

The ESP/ASR systems offer ex-
ceptional safety in normal driving,
but this should not encourage the
driver to take extra risks or drive at
high speed.
The correct functioning of these
systems depends on observation
of the manufacturer's recommen-
dations regarding the wheels (tyres
and rims), the braking components,
the electronic components and the
PEUGEOT assembly and opera-
tion procedures.
After an impact, have these sys-
tems checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer.
Deactivation
In exceptional conditions (starting a ve-
hicle which is bogged down, stuck in
snow, on soft ground, ...), it may be ad-
visable to deactivate the ASR and ESP
systems, so that the wheels can move
freely and regain grip.
Press the "ESP OFF" button, locat-
ed in the centre of the dashboard.
If this warning lamp comes on on the in-
strument panel and the indicator lamp on
the button comes on, this indicates that the
ASR and ESP systems are deactivated.
Reactivation
These systems are reactivated automat-
ically each time the ignition is switched
b a c k o n o r f r o m 3 0 m p h ( 5 0 k m / h ) .
Press the "ESP OFF" button again
to reactivate them manually. Operating fault
If this warning lamp comes on,
accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message on the multi-
function screen, this indicates a
malfunction of these systems.
Have them checked by a PEUGEOT dealer.
TRAJECTORY CONTROL
SYSTEMS
Activation
These systems are activated automati-
cally each time the vehicle is started.
Anti-skid regulation (ASR) and
electronic stability programme
(ESP)
They come into operation in
the event of a grip or trajectory
problem.
T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y fl a s h i n g o f
this warning lamp on the instru-
ment panel.
The anti-skid regulation (also known as
Traction Control) optimises traction to
prevent skidding of the wheels, by act-
ing on the brakes of the driving wheels
and on the engine.
The electronic stability programme acts
on the brake of one or more wheels and
on the engine to keep the vehicle on the
trajectory required by the driver, within
the limits of the laws of physics.

AUTOMATIC GEARBOX
F o u r - s p e e d a u t o m a t i c g e a r b o x w h i c h
offers a choice between the comfort of
fully automatic operation, enhanced by
sport and snow programmes, or manual
gear changing.
Therefore, four driving modes are of-
fered:
- automatic operation for electronic
management of the gears by the
g e a r b o x ,
- sport programme for a more dynamic
style of driving,
- snow programme to improve driving
when traction is poor,
- manual operation for sequential
changing of the gears by the driver. Gear lever
P. Park.
- Immobilisation of the vehicle, park- ing brake on or off.
- Starting the engine.
R. Reverse.
- Reversing manoeuvres, vehicle sta- tionary, engine at idle.
N. Neutral.
- Immobilisation of the vehicle, park- ing brake on.
- Starting the engine.
D. Automatic operation.
M. +/- Manual operation with sequential
changing of the four gears.
Push forwards to change up through
the gears.

Pull backwards to change down
through the gears. Displays on the instrument panel
When you move the lever in the gate
to select a position, the corresponding
indicator is displayed on the instrument
panel.

Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you
can engage position P or N to place the
g e a r b o x i n n e u t r a l .
In both cases, apply the parking brake
to immobilise the vehicle. Operating fault
There is a risk of damage to the
g e a r b o x :
- if you press the accelerator and brake pedals at the same time,
- if you force the movement of the gear lever from the P posi-
tion to another position when
t h e b a t t e r y i s fl a t .
To reduce fuel consumption when
at a prolonged standstill with the
e n g i n e r u n n i n g ( t r a f fi c j a m . . . ) , p u t
the gear lever in the N position and
apply the parking brake.
Manual operation
Select position M for sequential
changing of the four gears.
Push the lever towards the + sign to
change up a gear.
Pull the lever towards the - sign to
change down a gear.
D disappears and the gears
engaged appear in succes-
sion on the instrument panel.
In the event of the engine la-
bouring or over-revving, the
g e a r s e l e c t e d fl a s h e s f o r a f e w s e c -
onds, then the actual gear engaged is
displayed.
It is possible to change from position D
( a u t o m a t i c ) t o p o s i t i o n M ( m a n u a l ) a t
any time.
When the vehicle is stationary or mov-
i n g v e r y s l o w l y , t h e g e a r b o x s e l e c t s
gear M1 automatically.
The sport and snow programmes do not
operate in manual mode. If the lever is not in position
P ,
when the driver's door is opened
o r a p p r o x i m a t e l y 4 5 s e c o n d s a f t e r
the ignition is switched off, a mes-
sage appears in the multifunction
screen.
Return the lever to position P ;
the message disappears.
It is only possible to change from one
gear to another if the vehicle speed and
engine speed permit; otherwise, the
g e a r b o x w i l l o p e r a t e t e m p o r a r i l y i n a u -
tomatic mode.
Invalid value during manual
operation
This symbol is displayed if a
gear is not engaged correctly
(selector between two posi-
t i o n s ) . When the ignition is on, the
lighting of this warning lamp,
accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message on the mul-
t i f u n c t i o n s c r e e n , i n d i c a t e s a g e a r b o x
malfunction.
I n t h i s c a s e , t h e g e a r b o x s w i t c h e s t o
back-up mode and is locked in 3rd gear.
You may feel a substantial knock when
changing from P to R and from N to R .
This will not cause any damage to the
g e a r b o x .
D o n o t e x c e e d 6 0 m p h ( 1 0 0 k m / h ) , l o c a l
speed restrictions permitting.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer as soon as
possible.
