Access to the spare wheel
The "space-saver" spare wheel is in-
s t a l l e d i n t h e b o o t u n d e r t h e fl o o r .
T o g a i n a c c e s s t o i t :
place the vehicle in the "coupé"
c o n fi g u r a t i o n ,
open the boot,
r a i s e t h e fl o o r .
Fixing the "space-saver" spare
wheel
I f y o u r v e h i c l e i s fi t t e d w i t h a l l o y
wheels, it is normal to notice, when
t i g h t e n i n g t h e b o l t s o n fi t t i n g , t h a t
the washers do not come into con-
tact with the "space-saver" spare
wheel. The wheel is secured by the
conical contact of each bolt.
Taking out the wheel
Slacken and remove the retaining
strap.
Raise the spare wheel towards you
from the rear.
Take the wheel out of the boot.
Putting the wheel back in place
Put the spare wheel back in its housing.
Put the retaining strap back in place
and tighten it.

a sensor. The punctured wheel
must be repaired by a PEUGEOT

Parking the vehicle
Immobilise the vehicle where it
d o e s n o t b l o c k t r a f fi c : i f p o s s i b l e ,
park the vehicle on level, stable
and non-slippery ground.
Apply the parking brake, switch off
t h e i g n i t i o n a n d e n g a g e fi r s t g e a r *
to lock the wheels.
If necessary, place a chock under
the wheel diagonally opposite the
wheel to be changed.
It is imperative that you ensure that
the occupants get out of the vehicle
and wait in a safe location.
Never go underneath a vehicle
r a i s e d u s i n g a j a c k ; u s e a n a x l e
stand.
Removing a wheel
List of operations
Remove the chromed bolt cover from
each of the bolts using the tool 3 .
If your vehicle is equipped with
t h i s , fi t t h e s e c u r i t y s o c k e t 4 on the
wheelbrace 1 to slacken the security
bolt.
Slacken the other bolts using the
wheelbrace 1 only.
Place the jack 2 in contact with one
of the two front A or rear B locations
provided on the underframe, which-
ever is closest to the wheel to be
changed.
E x t e n d t h e j a c k 2 until its base plate
is in contact with the ground. Ensure
that the centreline of the jack base
plate is directly below the location A
or B used.
Raise the vehicle until there is suf-
fi c i e n t s p a c e b e t w e e n t h e w h e e l a n d
the ground to admit the spare (not
p u n c t u r e d ) w h e e l e a s i l y .
Remove the bolts and store them in
a clean place.
Remove the wheel.

After changing a wheel
U s i n g t h e " s p a c e - s a v e r " s p a r e w h e e l :
d o n o t fi t t h e w h e e l t r i m ,
d o n o t e x c e e d a s p e e d o f
5 0 m p h ( 8 0 k m / h ) .
Have the tightening of the bolts and
the pressure of the spare wheel
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer
without delay.
Have the punctured wheel repaired
and replace it on the vehicle as
soon as possible.
Fitting a wheel
List of operations
Put the wheel in place on the hub.
Screw in the bolts by hand.
Pre-tighten the security bolt us-
ing the wheelbrace 1 fi t t e d w i t h t h e
security socket 4 (if your vehicle is
e q u i p p e d w i t h t h i s ) .
Pre-tighten the other bolts using the
wheelbrace 1 only.
Lower the vehicle fully.
Fold the jack 2 and detach it.
Tighten the security bolt using the
wheelbrace 1 fi t t e d w i t h t h e s e c u r i t y
socket 4 (if your vehicle is equipped
w i t h t h i s ) .
Tighten the other bolts using the
wheelbrace 1 only.
R e fi t t h e c h r o m e d b o l t c o v e r s o n
each of the bolts.
S t o r e t h e t o o l s i n t h e b o x a t t h e b o t -
tom of the boot.
Store the punctured wheel in a cor-
ner of the boot.

BATTERY
Procedure for charging your battery
w h e n i t i s fl a t o r f o r s t a r t i n g t h e e n g i n e
using another battery.
Access to the battery Starting using another battery
Connect the red cable to the posi-
t i v e t e r m i n a l ( + ) o f t h e fl a t b a t t e r y A ,
t h e n t o t h e p o s i t i v e t e r m i n a l ( + ) o f
the slave battery B .
Connect one end of the green or
black cable to the negative terminal
( - ) o f t h e s l a v e b a t t e r y B .
Connect the other end of the green
or black cable to an earth point C on
the broken down vehicle, as far as
p o s s i b l e f r o m t h e b a t t e r y ( f o r e x a m -
p l e , r i g h t - h a n d e n g i n e m o u n t i n g ) .
Operate the starter, let the engine
run.
Wait until the engine returns to idle
and disconnect the cables.
The battery is located under the bonnet
on the left.
T o g a i n a c c e s s t o i t :
open the bonnet using the interior re-
l e a s e l e v e r , t h e n t h e e x t e r i o r s a f e t y
catch,
secure the bonnet stay,
remove the plastic cover to gain
access to the two terminals.
