Safety features of your vehicle
Your vehicle is equipped with a
Supplemental Restraint (Airbag) System
and lap/shoulder belts at both the driver
and passenger seating position. The indi-cations of the system's presence are the
letters "SRS AIR BAG" or “AIR BAG”
embossed on the air bag pad cover in the
steering wheel and the passenger's side
front panel pad above the glove box. The SRS consists of air bags installed
under the pad covers in the center of the
steering wheel and the passenger's side
front panel above the glove box.
The purpose of the SRS is to provide the
vehicle's driver and/or the front passen-ger with additional protection than that
offered by the seat belt system alone incase of a frontal impact of sufficient
severity.(Continued)
To reduce the chance of serious or fatal injuries and receive the maxi-
mum safety benefit from yourrestraint system:
Never place a child in any child orbooster seat in the front seat.
ABC – Always Buckle Children in the back seat. It is the safest
place for children of any age to
ride.
Front and side air bags can injure occupants improperly positioned
in the front seats.
Move your seat as far back as practical from the front air bags,
while still maintaining control of
the vehicle.
You and your passengers should never sit or lean unnecessarily
close to the air bags. Improperly
positioned drivers and passen-
gers can be severely injured by
inflating air bags.
Never lean against the door or center console – always sit in anupright position.
(Continued)WARNING
Always use seat belts and child
restraints – every trip, every time,
everyone! Air bags inflate with con-
siderable force and in the blink of
an eye. Seat belts help keep occu-
pants in proper position to obtain
maximum benefit from the air bag.
Even with air bags, improperly and
unbelted occupants can be severe-
ly injured when the air bag inflates.
Always follow the precautions
about seat belts, air bags and occu-
pant safety contained in this manu-al. (Continued)

Passenger’s front air bagOFF indicator
(if equipped)
The passenger’s front air bag OFF indi-
cator illuminates for about 4 seconds
after the ignition switch is turned to theON position.
The passenger’s front air bag OFF indi- cator also comes on when the passen-

Anti-lock brake system
(ABS) warning light
(if equipped)
This light illuminates if the ignition switch
is turned ON and goes off in approxi-
mately 3 seconds if the system is operat-
ing normally.
If the ABS warning light remains on or
comes on while driving or does not come
on when the ignition switch is turned tothe ON position, this indicates that there
may be a malfunction with the ABS.
If this occurs, have your vehicle checked
by an authorized KIA dealer as soon as
possible. The normal braking system will
still be operational, but without the assis-
tance of the anti-lock brake system. Electronic brake force distri-

If two warning lights illumi- nate at the same time while
driving, your vehicle may
have a malfunction with theABS and EBD system.
In this case, your ABS and regular brake
system may not work normally. Have the
vehicle checked by an authorized KIA
dealer as soon as possible.
CAUTION
If there is a malfunction of the pas-
senger’s front air bag ON/OFFswitch, the passenger’s front airbag OFF indicator will not illumi-
nate and the passenger’s front airbag will inflate in frontal impact crashes even if the passenger’sfront air bag ON/OFF switch is set
to the OFF position.
If this occurs, have an authorizedKIA dealer inspect the passenger’sfront air bag ON/OFF switch and theSRS air bag system as soon as pos-
sible.
WARNING
If the both ABS and brake warning
lights are on and stay on, your vehi-
cle’s brake system will not work
normally during sudden braking. In
this case, avoid high speed driving
and abrupt braking. Have your vehi-
