CAUTION:
If overheating should occur when towing, (temperature gauge readsnear red zone), taking the following action may reduce or eliminate the problem.
!
1. Turn off the air conditioner.
2. Reduce highway speed.
3. Select a lower gear when going uphill.
4. While in stop and go traffic, place the gear selector in park or neu- tral and idle the engine at a higherspeed.
14. When going down a hill, shift into a
lower gear and use the engine brak-ing effect. When ascending a long grade, downshift the transmission to alower gear and reduce speed to reduce chances of engine over- loading and/or overheating.
15. If you have to stop while going uphill, do not hold the vehicle inplace by pressing on the accelera-tor. Use the parking brake or footbrake.
NOTE: When towing check transmission fluid more frequently.

Specified Scheduled Procedures

These procedures must be performed at the intervals shown in the mainte-nance schedule to assure that your warranty remains in effect. Although it is strongly recommended that they beperformed by the factory-trained or distributor-trained technicians at your Hyundai dealer, these procedures maybe performed at any qualified service facility. These are the regular checks you should perform when you drive your Hyundai or you fill the fuel tank. A list of these items will be found on page6-5.

o Lights operation
o Windshield wiper operation
o Horn operation
o Defroster, heater system operation

o Steering operation and condition

o Brake operation, including parking

o Manual transmission operation, in- cluding clutch operation
o Seat control condition and operation
o Seat belt condition and operation
o Sunvisor operation If you notice anything that does not operate correctly or appears to be functioning incorrectly, inspect it care-fully and seek assistance from your Hyundai dealer if service is needed.

o Radiator antifreeze (engine cool- ant) should not be used in the washer system because it will damage the car's finish.
o The washer should not be oper- ated if the washer reservoir isempty. This can damage thewasher fluid pump.!
CHECKING THE TRANSMISSION OIL (MANUAL)

Transmission lubricant in the manual transmission should be checked at those intervals specified in the vehiclemaintenance schedule in Section 5. Recommended Oil Use only HYUNDAI GENUINE PARTS MTF 75W/85 (API GL-4) in the manualtransmission. Manual Transmission Oil Capac- ity The oil capacity of the manual trans- mission is 2.4 liters (2.6 N/A)/1.95 liters(2.5 TCI).
