Automatic Operation
The FATC (Full Automatic Tempera-
ture Control) system automatically con-
trols heating and cooling by doing as follows:

.P ush the "AUTO" switch. The indi-
cator light will illuminate confirming
that the Face, Floor and/or Bi-Level modes as well as the blower speedand air conditioner will be controlledautomatically. 2
.T urn the "TEMP" knob to set the
desired temperature.
The temperature will increase to the
maximum 32°C(90°F) by turning the
knob clockwise.The temperature will decrease to the minimum 17°C(62°F) by turning the
knob counterclockwise.
NOTE:
If the battery has been discharged or
disconnected, the temperature mode will reset to Centigrade degrees.
This is a normal condition and you
can change the temperature mode
from Centigrade to Fahrenheit as
follows; Press the "OFF" and "AUTO " switch
simultaneously for 3 seconds.The display shows that the unit of
temperature is adjusted to Centigrade
or Fahrenheit (°C

Fan Speed Control
The fan speed can be set to the desired
speed by turning the fan speed control
knob. The higher the fan speed is, the
more air is delivered. Pressing the "OFF"

Air Intake Control Switch
This is used to select fresh outside air
or recirculation of inside air. To change the air intake control mode,
(Fresh mode, Recirculation mode) push
the control switch.
FRESH MODE (
) : The indicator
light on the button goes on when the air intake control is in fresh mode.
RECIRCULATION MODE ( ) : The
indicator light on the button is illumi-
nated when the air intake control is in

MANUAL OPERATION
The heating and cooling system can be
controlled manually as well by pushing
buttons other than the "AUTO" switch. In this state, the system sequentially
works according to the order of buttons
selected.
The function of the switchs which are not selected will be controlled automati-
cally.
Press the "AUTO" switch in order to
convert to automatic control of the sys- tem.

With the "Fresh" mode selected, air
enters the vehicle from the outside and
is heated or cooled according to the
function selected.
With the "Recirculation" mode selected,
air from within the passenger compart-
ment will be drawn through the heating
system and heated or cooled according to the function selected.
NOTE:
It should be noted that prolonged
operation of the heating system in "recirculation" mode will give rise to
fogging of the windshield and side
windows and the air within the pas-
senger compartment will become stale. In addition, prolonged use of
the air conditioning with the "Recir-
culation" mode selected may result
in the air within the passenger com-

Heating and Cooling System Off
Press the "OFF" switch to stop the operation of the heating and cooling

Air Flow Control
This is used to direct the flow of air. Air
can be directed to the floor, dashboard
outlets, or windshield. Four symbols are used to represent Face, Bi-Level,Floor, Floor-Defrost position. B980E01MC

CAUTION:
o Do not insert warped or poor qual- ity discs into the CD player as damage to the unit may occur.
o Do not insert anything like coins
into the player slot as damage tothe unit may occur.
o Do not place beverages close to
the audio system. The playbackmechanism may be damaged if you spill them.
10. CD SCAN Button
o To playback the first 10 seconds of
each track, press the CD SCAN button more than 1 second.
o To playback the first 10 seconds of
each track in the selected folder,press the CD SCAN button within 1 second (MP3 CD only).
o Press the CD SCAN button again within 10 sec. when you have reachedthe desired track.
11. FILE SEARCH Knob (TUNE Select Knob)
o You can skip the track by turning the FILE SEARCH knob clockwise or counterclockwise.After selecting the desired track, press the FILE SEARCH knob to playback the track.If you do not press the FILE SEARCH knob within five seconds, the search will stop. 12. DIRECTORY SEARCH
Button
o You can move through the folder by pushing the DIR button to up ( ) anddown ( ). After moving the desired folder, press the FILE SEARCH knob to playbackthe selected folder. If you do not press the FILE SEARCH knob within five seconds, the searchwill stop.
NOTE :
o To assure proper operation of the unit, keep the vehicle interior tem- perature within a normal range by using the vehicle's air condition- ing or heating system.
o When replacing the fuse, replace it with a fuse having the correctcapacity.
o All stored bookmarks are all erased when the car battery is discon-nected or power to the vehicle islost. If this occurs, the bookmarks will have to be reset.
o This equipment is designed to be used only in a 12 volt DC batterysystem with negative ground.
o This unit is made of precisionparts. Do not attempt to disas- semble or adjust any parts.
o When driving your vehicle, be sure
to keep the volume of the unit setlow enough to allow you to hear sounds coming from the outside.
o Do not expose this equipment (in- cluding the speakers and tape) towater or excessive moisture.

11. FOLDER Button Folder up/down operation.
o Folder is moved up or down fromcurrently playing and folder name becomes displayed.
o Press TUNE/ENTER button to play
the selected folder.
o If the TUNE/ENTER button is not pressed within 5 seconds, then theprevious folder name will be dis-played again.

9. REPEAT Button Repeats current song when the button is pressed for less than 0.8 second. Repeats current folder when the buttonis pressed for 0.8 second or longer. (If there is no folder, entire disc will be repeated.) 10. SCAN Play Button Plays first 10 seconds of each song in the DISC.To cancel the mode, press the key once again. 11. FOLDER Button Folder up/down operation.
o Folder is moved up or down from
currently playing and folder name becomes displayed.
o Press TUNE/ENTER button to play
the selected folder.
o If the TUNE/ENTER button is not
pressed within 5 seconds, then the previous folder name will be dis- played again.

o Turn the ignition key to position
"ON" and wait for the pre-heat indi- cator light to go out.
o Operate the starter until the engine
runs.
ENGINE WARM Operate the starter. If the engine does not respond on the first attempt, wait several seconds and try again usingthe pre-heat.
STARTING

1. Insert key, and fasten the seat belt.
2. Depress the clutch pedal fully and
place the gearshift lever (manualtransaxle) in neutral or the selectorlever (automatic transaxle) in "P" (park) position.
3. After turning the ignition key to the "ON" position, make certain all warn-ing lights and gauges are function- ing properly before starting the en-gine.
4. On vehicles equipped with the die-
sel preheat indicator light, turn theignition key to the "ON" position. The diesel pre-heat indicator light will first illuminate in amber, andthen after a short time, the amber illumination will go off, indicating that preheating is completed.

C055B01B-GAT STARTING AND STOPPING THE ENGINE FOR TURBO CHARGERINTERCOOLER (Diesel Engine)
(1) Do not race the engine or sudden
accelerate the engine immediately after start it. If the engine is cold,allow the engine to idle for several seconds before it is driven to en- sure sufficient lubrication of theturbo charger unit.
(2) After high speed or extended driv-
ing, requiring a heavy engine load,the engine should be allowed to idle about 1 minute before turning it off. This idle time will allow the turbocharger to cool prior to shutting the engine off.
WARNING:
Do not turn the engine off immedi- ately after it has been subjected to a heavy load. Doing so may cause severe damage to the engine orturbo charger unit.

NOTE: If the engine were not started within 10 seconds after the preheating is completed, turn the ignition key once more to the "LOCK" position,and then to the "ON" position, in order to preheat again. WARNING:
Be sure that the clutch is fully de-pressed when starting a manual transaxle vehicle. Otherwise there
is the potential to cause damage to the vehicle or injury to someone inside or outside the vehicle as aresult of the forward or backward movement of the vehicle that will occur if the clutch is not depressedwhen the vehicle is started.
5. Turn the ignition key to the "START" position and release it when the engine starts.
