FAMILIARISATION

Seat belts not fastened/
unfastened warning lamp
This warning lamp informs you if
the driver’s or front passenger’s
seat belt is not fastened (de-
pending on model), and if the
front passenger’s (depending
on model) or the second-row
passengers’ seat belts are unfastened.
The illuminated positions represent
those whose seat belts are not fas-
tened/unfastened.
Once the function has been activated,
when starting the engine, the system
automatically locks the doors once you
reach approximately 6 mph (10 km/h).
This function can be deactivated by
pressing button A
for more than two
seconds.

Tyre under-inflation detection

This function warns you if a tyre is de-
fl ated or punctured.
This system does not absolve the driver
of the need to regularly check the tyre
pressures.
The service warning lamp
comes on, and a vehicle outline
is displayed, accompanied by a
message and an audible signal.
Under-infl ation warning
The STOP
warning lamp comes
on, and a vehicle outline is dis-
played, accompanied by a mes-
sage and an audible signal.

Manual central locking

You can use electrical central locking or
unlocking by pressing on button A
.
If one of the doors is open or is not
closed properly, central locking will not
work.

Limit the causes of excess
consumption

Spread loads throughout the vehicle;
place the heaviest items in the bottom
of the boot, as close as possible to the
rear seats.
Limit the loads carried in the vehicle
and reduce wind resistance (roof bars,
roof rack, bicycle carrier, trailer...). Use
a roof box in preference.
Remove roof bars and roof racks after
use.

At the end of winter, remove snow tyres
and refi t your summer tyres.



Observe the recommendations
on maintenance

Check the tyre pressures regularly,
when cold, referring to the label in the
door aperture, driver's side.
Carry out this check in particular:


- before a long journey,

- at each change of season,

- after a long period out of use.
Don't forget the spare wheel and the
tyres on any trailer or caravan.


Have your vehicle serviced regularly (en-
gine oil, oil fi lter, air fi lter...) and observe
the schedule of operations recommended
by the manufacturer.




When refuelling, do not continue after
the 3 rd cut-off of the nozzle to avoid
any overfl ow.

At the wheel of your new vehicle,
it is only after the fi rst 1 800 miles
(3 000 kilometres) that you will see
the fuel consumption settle down to a
consistent average.

Switch off the headlamps and front
foglamps when the level of light does
not require their use.

Avoid running the engine before mov-
ing off, particularly in winter; your ve-
hicle will warm up much faster while
driving.

As a passenger, if you avoid connect-
ing your multimedia devices (fi lm, mu-
sic, video game...), you will contribute
towards limiting the consumption of
electrical energy, and so of fuel.
Disconnect your portable devices be-
fore leaving the vehicle.

Warning lamps
When the engine is running or the vehicle is being driven, the illumination of one of the following warning lamps indicates
a fault which requires action on the part of the driver.
Any fault resulting in the illumination of a warning lamp must be investigated further by reading the associated message
in the multifunction screen.
If you encounter any problems, do not hesitate to contact a CITROËN dealer or a qualifi ed workshop.

TYRE UNDER-INFLATION DETECTION
Sensors fi tted in each valve check
the tyre pressure during driving and
trigger a warning in the event of
malfunction (speed above 12 mph
(20 km/h)).

Under-infl ated tyre The tyre under-infl ation detection
system is an aid to driving which
does not replace the vigilance or
responsibility of the driver.
Puncture
The service warning lamp
comes on in the instrument
panel, accompanied by an
audible signal and a mes-
sage on the multifunction screen lo-
cating the wheel concerned.
Check the tyre pressures as soon as
possible. This check must be carried
out when the tyres are cold. The STOP
warning lamp
comes on in the instrument
panel, accompanied by an
audible signal and a mes-
sage on the multifunction screen lo-
cating the wheel concerned.
Stop immediately, avoiding any sud-
den movement of the steering wheel
and the brakes.
Change the damaged wheel (punc-
tured or very defl ated tyre), and
have the tyre pressure checked as
soon as possible.

Sensor(s) not detected or faulty
The service warning lamp
comes on in the instrument
panel, accompanied by an
audible signal and a mes-
sage on the multifunction screen
locating the wheel or wheels which
are not detected or indicating a fault
in the system.
Have the faulty sensor(s) checked
by a CITROËN dealer or a qualifi ed
workshop. All repairs and changing of tyres
on a wheel fi tted with this system
must be carried out by a CITROËN
dealer or a qualifi ed workshop.
If, when changing a tyre, you in-
stall a wheel which is not detected
by your vehicle (example: fi tting
of snow tyres), you must have the
system reinitialised by a CITROËN
dealer or a qualifi ed workshop.
This system does not avoid the
need to have the tyre pressures
checked regularly (refer to the
"Technical data - Identifi cation
markings" section) to ensure that
the optimum dynamic performance
of the vehicle is maintained and
prevent premature wear of the
tyres, particularly in arduous driv-
ing conditions (heavy load, high
speed).
The tyre pressures must be
checked cold, at least once a
month. Remember to check the
pressure of the spare wheel.
The tyre under-infl ation detection
system may experience temporary
interference due to electro-magnetic
signals on a frequency close to that
used by the system.
This message is also displayed
when one of the wheels is away
from the vehicle (being repaired) or
when one or more wheels without a
sensor are fi tted.
The spare wheel is not fi tted with a
sensor.

BRAKING ASSISTANCE
SYSTEMS
Group of supplementary systems
which help you to obtain optimum
braking in complete safety in emer-
gency situations:


- anti-lock braking system (ABS),

- electronic brake force distribu-
tion (EBFD),

- emergency braking assistance
(EBA).


Anti-lock braking system
and electronic brake force
distribution
Linked systems which improve the
stability and manoeuvrability of your
vehicle when braking, in particular
on poor or slippery surfaces.

Activation
The anti-lock braking system comes
into operation automatically when
there is a risk of wheel lock.
Normal operation of the ABS may
make itself felt by slight vibration of
the brake pedal.
Operating fault

When braking in an emergency,
press very fi rmly without releasing
the pressure. If this warning lamp comes
on, accompanied by an au-
dible signal and a message
in the screen, it indicates a
malfunction of the anti-lock braking
system which could result in loss of
control of the vehicle when braking.
If this warning lamp comes
on, together with the STOP

and ABS
warning lamps,
accompanied by an audible
signal and a message in the screen,
it indicates a malfunction of the elec-
tronic brake force distribution which
could result in loss of control of the
vehicle when braking.

You must stop as soon as it is
safe to do so.

In either case, contact a CITROËN
dealer or a qualifi ed workshop.

When replacing wheels (tyres and
rims), ensure that they conform to
the manufacturer's recommenda-
tions.











Emergency braking assistance

System which, in an emergency,
enables you to obtain the optimum
braking pressure more quickly, thus
reducing the stopping distance.

Activation
It is triggered by the speed at which
the brake pedal is pressed.
The effect of this is a reduction in
the resistance of the pedal and an
increase in braking effi ciency.
When braking in an emergency,
press fi rmly without releasing the
pressure.

Remove the compressor and
store the cartridge in the plastic
bag, supplied in the kit, to avoid
staining your vehicle with traces
of fl uid.

Drive immediately for approxi-
mately two miles (three kilome-
tres), at reduced speed (between
15 and 35 mph - 20 and 60 km/h),
to plug the puncture.

)
Stop to check the repair and the
pressure.

)
Connect the compressor pipe di-
rectly to the valve of the repaired
wheel.

Switch on the compressor by
moving the switch A
to position
"1"
until the tyre pressure reaches
2.0 bars. If this pressure has not been
reached after approximately three
minutes, the tyre cannot be re-
paired; contact a CITROËN dealer
or a qualifi ed workshop for assis-
tance.

tric plug to the vehicle's 12 V
socket again.

Visit a CITROËN dealer or a
qualifi ed workshop as soon as
possible to have the tyre repaired
or replaced by a technician. Take care, the sealant
cartridge contains ethyl-
ene-glycol. This product is
harmful if swallowed and causes
irritation to the eyes. Keep it out of
reach of children.
The expiry date of the sealant is
indicated on the base of the car-
tridge.
The cartridge is designed for a sin-
gle use; even if only partly used, it
must be replaced.
After use, do not discard the car-
tridge into the environment, take it
to a CITROËN dealer or to an au-
thorised waste disposal site.
Do not forget to obtain a new
sealant cartridge, available from
a CITROËN dealer or a qualifi ed
workshop.


Under-inflation detection

If the vehicle is fi tted with tyre un-
der-infl ation detection, the tyre
under-infl ation warning lamp will
remain on after the wheel has been
repaired until the system is reini-
tialised by a CITROËN dealer or a
qualifi ed workshop.

Temporary use spare wheel
If your vehicle is equipped with a
spare wheel for temporary use only,
when fi tting this it is normal to ob-
serve that the wheel bolts do not
come to bear directly on the wheel
rim.
The spare wheel is secured by the
conical tapering of the wheel bolt’s
shaft.
When refi tting the original wheel, en-
sure that the wheel bolts and wash-
ers are clean and in good condition.

Under-infl ation detection

Wheels with under-infl ation detection
have tyre pressure sensors. Have repairs
to them carried out by a CITROËN dealer
or a qualifi ed workshop. The spare wheel
does not have a sensor.



Security bolts (alloy wheels)

Each wheel may be equipped with
one security bolt (depending on the
country of sale).
To remove it:

remove its protective cover us-

Spare wheel dimensions

If your spare wheel has dimensions
different from those of the standard
vehicle wheels (identifi ed by a la-
bel), it is imperative to use the spare
wheel only temporarily, to drive
with caution, not to exceed 50 mph
(80 km/h) and to have the tyre re-
paired and the standard wheel refi t-
ted as soon as possible.


Tyre pressures

These are indicated on the label
on the front left-hand door pillar
(see "Technical Data - Identifi cation
markings").
The wheel bolts are specifi c
to each type of wheel.
If new wheels are fi tted, check with
your CITROËN dealer or a qualifi ed
workshop that the wheel bolts are
compatible with the new wheels.
Make a note of the code number on
the head of the security bolt sock-
et. This will enable you to obtain a
replacement security bolt socket
from your dealer.
