The service interval display reminds you when your next
service is due.

Th e schedu le for the next oil change or inspection is c alc ul ated auto
matically and displayed accord ingly. The display works in two stages:
Service reminder
30 days before the next serv ice is due, a serv ice reminder a ppears in
the display when yo u turn on t he ign it ion=> fig. 14 .
After about 5 seconds the d isp lay switches back to normal. The
dis tan ce and time rema ining are updated each t ime t he ig nition is
turned on unti l the date due for service is reac hed .

If or when an oil change or inspection is due, can be shown in the MMI
display by se lecting the se rvice interval display in the car menu. Se lect

Resetting the service interval display
Your authorized Aud i dea ler will reset the correspond ing se rvice
schedule after performing the a ppropriate service on yo ur vehicle .
You a lso have the possibility to reset t he oil c hange sched ule afte r
having performed an o il change acco rding to A udi specifications.

If you d isconnect the batte ry termina ls, no ca lculations can be made

particularly the engine, and maintaining its value . Even if the mileage
dr iven is low, the max imum per io d of one year from one serv ice to the
next must not be exceeded.

• The yellow oil level warning indication requires oil refill or
workshop service without delay. Do not wait until the red oil pres
sure warning ~ starts to flash before you respond to the low oil
level warning

If there is a malfunction in the electronic steering column lock, the steering cannot be unlocked.
If the i symbol in the display blinks, there is a malfunction
in the electronic steering column lock . An additional driver
message can also be displayed by pressing the[CHECK]
button :

-Contact your nearest authorized Audi dealer or qualified
workshop .
- Do
not tow your vehicle.
& WARNING
Your vehicle must not be towed in the event of a malfunction in
the electronic steering column lock because it cannot be steered
due to the locked steering. If it is towed with the steering locked,
there is the risk of an accident. •
Ignition lock malfunction .Pe
A malfunction in the ignition lock must be repaired imme
diately.
If the .Pe symbol in the display blinks, there is a malfunction
in the electronic ignition lock. An additional driver message
can also be displayed by pressing the [ CHECK] button:

- Do not turn the engine off.
- Drive immediately to an authorized Audi dealer to have

The v alet key only fi ts the loc k in t he d river's doo r and the ignition
lock. If you have to leave the key with somebody else, you are well

You can check to find out how many keys have been reg iste red to your

Data in the master key
Wh ile you are driv ing, service and maintenance relevant data are
be in g con tinuously s tored on yo ur mast er key. Your Aud i serv ice
adviser can read out these data and tell you about work that is needed
on yo ur vehi cle. T hi s also app lies to vehi cles w it h Conve nience key* .
& WARNING
• Do not leave your vehicle unattended with the key in the igni
tion lock. Entry by unauthor ized persons could endanger you or
result in theft or damage the vehicle. Alway s lock all doors and
take the key.
• Do not leave children unattended in the vehicle, especially with
access to vehicle keys. Unguarded access to the keys prov ides chil
dren the opportunity to start the engine and /or a ctivate vehicle
systems such as the power windows etc. Unsupervised operation
of any vehicle system by children can result in serious injury .

• If you open t he dr iver's doo r wi th t he key left in the igni tion lock ,
a ch ime will sound. Thi s is your reminder to remove the key and lock

Automatic locking
Th e a utomat ic lo ck ing feature locks a ll the veh icle doors and the rear
lid when you drive faster than 9 mph (15 km/h). This function can be
tu rne d on and off in the MMI

You can unlock the vehicle from the ins ide by:
• removing the key from the ign ition switch (the vehicle w ill auto
matically un lock itself) o r
• press ing the unlock part of the powe r lock switch

• When you lock y our veh icle from outs ide, nobody -especiall y

• In the event of a cras h w ith airbag deployment all loc ked doors

After you close the door, you will no longer be able to open it from the

The door can be opened from the inside by pulling once respective ly
twice (rear doors) on the door handle. If the chi ld safety lock is
engaged in one of the rea r doors, the doo r has to be opened from the
outs ide after pulling on the handle once from the inside. •

- Take the screwdriver from the vehicle tool kit. As an alter-
native, you can also use the vehicle key.
- Put the flat side of the screw driver into the recess and pry
the cover up=> fig. 37 -Arrow-.
- Press the lever in the direction of the arrow~ fig. 38 to
unlock the rear lid .•

The power child safety lock prevents the rear doors from
being opened from the inside .

The rear doors are equipped with a power child safety lock . It
is operated with the two safety buttons(!) in the driver's door
~ fig. 39.
- Press the left and/or r ight safety button to d isable the
rear power window(s) and prevent the respective rear door
from being opened from the inside . The LED in the button
will light up when the child safety lock is turned
on.
Press the illuminated button again to turn the child safety
features
off.
When the child safety lock is activated, the interior door open ing
lever is inoperative; the door can only be opened from the outside. In
add ition, the window regulator fo r that door is also inoperative when
the child safety lock is activated.
If the child safety lock has been activated on one or both sides, the
buttons in the rear for the Pa noramic slid ing sunroof* are disabled. .,
If the child safety lock has been activated on the left and on the right
side, t he rear cont rols are locke d on veh icles wi th re ar a ir-c ondi
tioning* . Dashes" ---" are shown in the displays for the rear climate

Th e Conve nience key vehicle a uth o rization syste m allows keyless

It makes no d ifference whether the master key is i n your jacke t pocke t
or in your br ief case . As soon as you approach yo ur vehicle, the Conve
nie nce key recog nizes the reques t fo r access, checks for author izat io n

Unlocking the vehicle
The doors and the rear lid can be unlocked without oper
ating the master key.

- Take hold of the door handle . The door is unlocked auto-
matically.
- Pull the handle to open the door.
A door is unlocked as soon as you approach the door handle and the
system recognizes an authorized master key . The vehicle can be
unlocked at any door. The authorized master key only has to be within
a range of about 5 feet (1.5 meters) from the respective door.
When a door is unlocked, the driver's door is always unlocked as well.
It depends on the settings in the central locking menu in the MMI
whether the entire vehicle is unlocked or only certain doors
~ page 47.
[I] Tips
If your vehicle has been standing for an extended period, please note
the following : •
The proximity sensors are deactivated after a few days to save
power . You then have to pull on the door handle once to unlock the
vehicle and a second t ime to open the vehicle.
• To prevent the battery from being discharged and to preserve your
vehicle 's ability to start for as long as possible, the energy manage
ment system gradually switches off unnecessary convenience func
tions . It is possible that you will not be able to unlock your veh icle
using these convenience functions. •
