LANE DEPARTURE WARNING SYSTEM
S y s t e m w h i c h d e t e c t s t h e i n v o l u n -
t a r y c r o s s i n g o f l o n g i t u d i n a l t r a f fi c
lane markings on the ground (solid
or broken line).
S e n s o r s , fi t t e d b e l o w t h e f r o n t b u m -
per, trigger a warning if the vehicle
drifts over a lane marking (speed
higher than 50 mph (80 km/h)).
This system is particularly useful on
motorways and main roads.
Activation
Press button A , the indicator
lamp comes on.
Deactivation
Press button A again, the indica-
tor lamp switches off.
The status of the system remains
in the memory when the ignition is
switched off. Detection
You are warned by the vibration of
the driver's seat cushion:
- on the right-hand side, if the
marking on the ground has been
crossed on the right,
- on the left-hand side, if the mark- ing on the ground has been
crossed on the left.
No warning is transmitted while the
direction indicator is active and for
a p p r o x i m a t e l y 2 0 s e c o n d s a f t e r t h e
direction indicator is switched off.
A warning may be transmitted if a direc-
tion marking (e.g. arrow) or non-stan-
d a r d m a r k i n g ( e . g . g r a f fi t i ) i s c r o s s e d . Operating fault
In the event of a malfunction, the
service warning lamp comes on,
accompanied by an audible signal
and a message on the multifunction
screen.
Consult a CITROËN dealer.
The lane departure warning sys-
tem cannot, in any circumstances,
replace the need for vigilance and
responsibility on the part of the
driver.
The detection may be impeded:
- if the sensors are dirty (mud, snow...),
- if the markings on the ground are worn,
- if there is little contrast between the markings on the ground and
the road surface.

ly. Fluid which has been used exces-
sively may cause a loss of braking

manufacturer's recommendations
and meet the DOT4 standard.
The reading will only be
correct if the vehicle is on
level ground and the engine
has been off for more than
1 5 m i n u t e s .
The check is carried out either when
the ignition is switched on using the
oil level indicator on the instrument
panel, or using the dipstick.
Check this level also between each
scheduled service and before long
journeys.
Take care when doing anything un-
der the bonnet, as some parts of the
engine can be extremely hot (risk of
burns). T h e b r a k e fl u i d l e v e l s h o u l d
be close to the "MAX" mark.
If it is not, check the brake
pad wear.
In order to maintain the reli-
ability of the engine and emis-
sion control system, the use
of additives in the engine oil is
prohibited. Power steering fluid or power

OPERATION OF THE SYSTEM T h e g r e e n i n d i c a t o r l a m p r e m a i n s o n ( w i t h o u t fl a s h i n g ) w h e n communication is established. It goes off at the end of commun ication.
This call is dealt with by the CITROËN Emergency team which re ceives locating information from the vehicle and can send a detailed alert to the appropriate emergency services. In countries in which the team is no t operational, or when the locating service has been expressly refused, t h e c a l l i s d e a l t w i t h d i r e c t l y b y t h e e m e r g e n c y s e r v i c e s ( 1 1 2 ) w i t h o u t t h e vehicle location.
If an impact is detected by the airbag ECU, and independently of any triggering of the airbags, an emergency call is made automatically.
