PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Fitting the steel or "space-
saver" type spare wheel
I f y o u r v e h i c l e i s fi t t e d w i t h a l l o y
wheels, it is normal to notice, when
t i g h t e n i n g t h e b o l t s o n fi t t i n g , t h a t
the washers do not come into con-
tact with the steel or "space-saver"
type spare wheel. The wheel is
secured by the conical contact of
each bolt.
Access to the spare wheel
The spare wheel is installed in the boot
u n d e r t h e fl o o r .
According to country, the spare wheel
may be steel or of the "space-saver"
type.
For access to it, refer to the paragraph
"Access to tools" on the previous page.
Taking out the wheel
Unscrew the yellow central bolt, and
remove it.
Raise the spare wheel towards you
from the rear.
Take the wheel out of the boot.
Putting the wheel back in place
Put the wheel back in its housing.
R e fi t t h e y e l l o w c e n t r a l b o l t i n t h e
centre of the wheel.
Tighten fully until the central bolt
clicks to retain the wheel correctly.
P u t t h e p o l y s t y r e n e s t o r a g e b o x
back in place.

Parking the vehicle
Immobilise the vehicle where it
d o e s n o t b l o c k t r a f fi c : t h e g r o u n d
must be level, stable and non-
slippery.
Apply the parking brake, switch off
t h e i g n i t i o n a n d e n g a g e fi r s t g e a r t o
lock the wheels.
If necessary, place a chock under
the wheel diagonally opposite the
wheel to be changed.
You must ensure that the occu-
pants get out of the vehicle and
wait where they are safe.
Never go underneath a vehicle
r a i s e d u s i n g a j a c k ; u s e a n a x l e
stand.
Removing the wheel
List of operations
Remove the chromed bolt cover from
each of the bolts using the tool 3 (with
a l l o w w h e e l s o n l y ) .
Fit the security socket 5 on the
wheelbrace 1 to slacken the security
b o l t ( i f y o u r v e h i c l e h a s t h e m ) .
Slacken the other bolts using the
wheelbrace 1 only.
Place the jack 2 in contact with one
of the two front A or rear B locations
provided on the underbody, which-
ever is closest to the wheel to be
changed.
E x t e n d t h e j a c k 2 until its base plate
is in contact with the ground. Ensure
that the centreline of the jack base
plate is directly below the location A
or B used.
Raise the vehicle until there is suf-
fi c i e n t s p a c e b e t w e e n t h e w h e e l a n d
the ground to admit the spare (not
p u n c t u r e d ) w h e e l e a s i l y .
Remove the bolts and store them in
a clean place.
Remove the wheel.

Put the wheel in place on the hub
using the centring guide 4 .
Screw in the bolts by hand as far as
possible.
Pre-tighten the security bolt (if your ve-
h i c l e h a s t h e m ) u s i n g t h e w h e e l b r a c e
1 fi t t e d w i t h t h e s e c u r i t y s o c k e t 5 .
Pre-tighten the other bolts using the
wheelbrace 1 only.
Lower the vehicle fully.
Fold the jack 2 and detach it.
After changing a wheel
To store the punctured wheel in
t h e b o o t c o r r e c t l y , fi r s t r e m o v e t h e
central cover.
When using the "space-saver"
t y p e s p a r e w h e e l , d o n o t e x c e e d
5 0 m p h ( 8 0 k m / h ) .
Have the tightening of the bolts
and the pressure of the spare
wheel checked by a CITROËN
dealer without delay.
Have the punctured wheel repaired
and replace it on the vehicle as
soon as possible.
Refitting the wheel
Tighten the security bolt (if your vehicle
h a s t h e m ) u s i n g t h e w h e e l b r a c e 1 fi t -
ted with the security socket 5 .
Tighten the other bolts using the
wheelbrace 1 only.
R e fi t t h e c h r o m e d b o l t c o v e r s o n
each of the bolts (with alloy wheels
o n l y ) .

BATTERY
Procedure for charging your battery
w h e n i t i s fl a t o r f o r s t a r t i n g t h e e n g i n e
using another battery.
Access to the battery Starting using another battery
Connect the red cable to the posi-
t i v e t e r m i n a l ( + ) o f t h e fl a t b a t t e r y A ,
t h e n t o t h e p o s i t i v e t e r m i n a l ( + ) o f
the slave battery B .
Connect one end of the green or
black cable to the negative termi-
n a l ( - ) o f t h e s l a v e b a t t e r y B .
Connect the other end of the green
or black cable to the negative termi-
n a l ( - ) o f t h e fl a t b a t t e r y A .
Start the slave vehicle.
Operate the starter of the broken
down vehicle and let the engine run.
Wait until the engine returns to idle
and disconnect the cables.
The battery is located under the bonnet.
To gain access to it:
open the bonnet using the interior
r e l e a s e l e v e r , t h e n t h e e x t e r i o r s a f e t y
catch,
secure the bonnet stay,
remove the plastic cover by pulling
on its grip for access to the two ter-
minals,
u n c l i p t h e f u s e b o x t o r e m o v e t h e
battery, if necessary.

Pressing this button again immediately cancels the request. The green indicator lamp goes off.

OPERATION OF THE SYSTEM T h e g r e e n i n d i c a t o r l a m p r e m a i n s o n ( w i t h o u t fl a s h i n g ) w h e n communication is established. It goes off at the end of commun ication.
This call is dealt with by the CITROËN Emergency team which re ceives locating information from the vehicle and can send a detailed alert to the appropriate emergency services. In countries in which the team is no t operational, or when the locating service has been expressly declined, t h e c a l l i s d e a l t w i t h d i r e c t l y b y t h e e m e r g e n c y s e r v i c e s ( 1 1 2 ) w i t h o u t t h e vehicle location.
If an impact is detected by the airbag ECU, and independently of the deployment of any airbags, an emergency call is made automatically.
I f t h e o r a n g e i n d i c a t o r l a m p fl a s h e s : t h e r e i s a system malfunction.
If the orange indicator lamp is on c o n t i n u o u s l y : t h e b a c k u p b a t t e r y m u s t b e replaced.
In both cases, consult a CITROËN dealer.
