PASSENGER SAFETY
Front passenger’s airbag
1. Open the glove box.
2. Insert the key.
3. Select position:
"ON" ( a c t i v a t i o n ) , w i t h f r o n t p a s s e n -
ger or "forwards facing" child seat,
"OFF" ( d e a c t i v a t i o n ) , w i t h " r e a r f a c -
ing" child seat.
4. Remove the key keeping the switch
in the new position.

A. Front seat belts not fastened or un-
fastened warning lamp.
102 Electric child lock
The lighting of the indicator lamp indi-
cates the status of the corresponding

MONITORING
Stop & Start fi x e d .
The Stop & Start system
has put the engine in STOP
mode at a vehicle stop
( t r a f fi c l i g h t s , t r a f fi c j a m ,
or other...). The warning lamp goes off and the engine
restarts automatically in START mode, as soon
as you want to move off.

few seconds,
then goes off. STOP mode is temporarily
unavailable.

START mode is invoked
automatically.
Refer to "Driving - § Stop & Start" for special
cases with STOP mode and START mode.
Passenger's
airbag
system fi x e d . The control switch, located
in the glove box, is in
the "
ON " position.
The passenger's front
airbag is activated.
In this case, do not install a
rear-facing child seat. Turn the control switch to the "
OFF " position
to deactivate the front passenger's airbag.
In this case you can install a rear-facing child
seat.
Engine
coolant
temperature fi x e d b l u e . On starting the engine, it
indicates that the engine
is cold. After a few minutes driving, it swiches off to
indicate that the engine temperature is normal.
In order to protect your engine, avoid driving too
hard until the warning lamp has switched off.

Deactivation indicator lamps

This is may be accompanied by an audible signal and a message on the multifunction screen.
Passenger's
airbag
system fi x e d . The control, located in the
glove box, is set to the
OFF
position.
The passenger's front
airbag is deactivated.
In this case you can install
a "rear facing" child seat. Set the control to the
ON position to activate
the passenger's front airbag.
I n t h i s c a s e , d o n o t fi t a c h i l d s e a t i n t h e
rear-facing position.
ESP/ASR fi x e d . The button, located at
the bottom left of the
dashboard, is pressed. Its
indicator lamp is on.
The ESP/ASR is
deactivated.
ESP: electronic stability
programme.
ASR: anti-skid regulation. Press the button to activate the ESP/ASR. Its
indicator lamp goes off.
The ESP/ASR system is activated automatically
when the vehicle is started.
If deactivated, the system is reactivated
automatically from around 30 mph (50 km/h).

Version without Zenith windscreen
GLOVE BOX
To open the glove box, raise the
handle.
It houses the front passenger airbag de-
activation switch A .
It gives access to the dashboard fuse-
box (see the "Practical information - §
Changing a fuse" section).
CENTRE ARMREST
Comfort and storage system for the
driver and front passenger.
Storage
For access to the closed storage
box, lift the lever to open the lid.
For access to the open storage box
below the armrest, lift the complete
armrest towards the rear.
These can be used for portable devices
(mobile phone, MP3 player...) which can
be connected to the USB port/auxiliary
socket or charged from the 12 V socket
in the centre console.
Version with Zenith windscreen

airbags are deployed instantly and
p r o t e c t t h e o c c u p a n t s o f t h e v e h i c l e
( w i t h t h e e x c e p t i o n o f t h e r e a r c e n t r e
p a s s e n g e r ) ; i m m e d i a t e l y a f t e r t h e
i m p a c t , t h e a i r b a g s d e fl a t e r a p i d l y
so that they do not hinder visibility
o r t h e e x i t o f t h e o c c u p a n t s ,
- i n t h e c a s e o f a m i n o r o r r e a r i m p a c t o r i n c e r t a i n r o l l - o v e r c o n d i t i o n s , t h e
airbags will not be deployed; the
