Stop & Start
Going into engine STOP mode The "ECO" warning lamp comes
on in the instrument panel and
the engine goes into standby:
- with a manual gearbox; at speeds
b e l o w 1 2 m p h ( 2 0 k m / h ) , p u t t h e
gear lever into neutral, then release
the clutch pedal.
In certain circumstances, STOP may
not be available; the "ECO" warning
l a m p fl a s h e s f o r a f e w s e c o n d s , t h e n
goes off.
113 Going into engine START mode
The "ECO" warning lamp goes
off and the engine restarts:
- with a manual gearbox; depress
the clutch pedal.
In certain circumstances, START mode
may be invoked automatically; the
"ECO" w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s f o r a f e w
seconds, then goes off.
114 Deactivation/Reactivation
You can deactivate the system at any
time by pressing the
"ECO OFF" button;
the warning lamp in the button comes
on.
The system is reactivated auto-
matically every time the engine
is started with with the key.
Before refuelling or doing any-
thing under the bonnet, you
must switch off the ignition with
the key.

Foot on the
brake pedal fi x e d .
The brake pedal must be
pressed. With the SensoDrive gearbox, press the brake
pedal to start the engine (lever in position
N ).
With an automatic gearbox, with the engine
running, press the brake pedal before releasing
the parking brake, to unlock the lever and come
out of position P .
If you wish to release the parking brake without
pressing the brake pedal, this warning lamp will
remain on.
fl a s h i n g . With a SensoDrive gearbox,
if you hold the vehicle on an
incline using the accelerator
for too long, the clutch
overheats. Use the brake pedal and/or the parking brake.
Automatic
wiping fi x e d . The wiper control is pushed
downwards. Automatic front wiping is activated.

PARKING BRAKE
When parking on a slope, direct
your wheels against the pave-
ment, apply the parking brake
and engage a gear.
Applying
Pull the parking brake lever fully up
to immobilise your vehicle. Releasing
Pull the parking brake lever gently,
press the release button then lower
the lever fully.
When the vehicle is being driven, if this
warning lamp and the STOP warning
lamp come on, accompanied by an
audible signal and a message on the
multifunction screen, this indicates that the parki ng
brake is still on or has not been properly released .
6-SPEED MANUAL GEARBOX
Engaging reverse gear
Raise the ring under the knob and
push the gear lever to the left then
forwards.
As a safety precaution and to fa-
cilitate starting of the engine:
- always select neutral,
- press the clutch pedal. Only engage reverse gear when
the vehicle is stationary with the
engine at idle.

STOP & START
The Stop & Start system puts the en-
gine temporarily into standby - STOP
m o d e - d u r i n g s t o p s i n t h e t r a f fi c ( r e d
l i g h t s , t r a f fi c j a m s , e t c . . . ) . T h e e n g i n e
restarts automatically - START mode -
as soon as you want to move off. The
restart takes place instantly, quickly and
silently.
Perfect for urban use, the Stop & Start
system reduces fuel consumption and
e x h a u s t e m i s s i o n s a s w e l l a s o f f e r i n g
the comfort of silence when stationary. Operation

Going into engine STOP mode
The
"ECO" warning lamp comes on in the instrument panel and
the engine goes into standby:
For your comfort when parking,
STOP mode is not available for
a few seconds after coming out
of reverse gear.
STOP mode does not affect the
functionality of the vehicle, such
as braking, power steering, for
e x a m p l e . Never refuel with the engine in
STOP mode; you must switch
off the ignition with the key.
A time counter calculates the sum of the periods in STOP
m o d e d u r i n g a j o u r n e y . I t
rests itself to zero every
time the ignition is switched
on with the key. Special cases: STOP mode
unavailable
STOP mode is not invoked when:
- the driver's door is open,
- the driver's seat belt is not fastened,
- t h e v e h i c l e h a s n o t e x c e e d e d 6 m p h
( 1 0 k m / h ) s i n c e t h e l a s t e n g i n e s t a r t
using the key,
- the engine is needed to maintain a comfortable temperature in the pas-
senger compartment,
- demisting is active,
- some special conditions (battery charge, engine temperature, brak-
ing assistance, ambient tempera-
ture...) where the engine is needed
to assure control of a system.
The "ECO" w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s
for a few seconds, then goes off.
This operation is perfectly normal.

START is invoked automatically when:
- the driver's door is open,

to assure control of a system. Deactivation
At any time, press the
"ECO OFF" switch
to deactivate the system.
T h i s i s c o n fi r m e d b y t h e s w i t c h w a r n -
ing lamp coming on accompanied by a
message in the screen.
If the system has been deacti-
vated in STOP mode, the en-
gine restarts immediately.
Reactivation
Press the "ECO OFF" switch again.
The system is active again; this is
c o n fi r m e d b y t h e s w i t c h w a r n i n g l a m p
going off, accompanied by a message
in the screen.
The system is reactivated au-
tomatically at every new start
using the key.
W i t h a m a n u a l g e a r b o x i n S T O P
mode, if a gear is engaged with-
out fully depressing the clutch
pedal, a message is displayed
asking you to depress the clutch
pedal to restart the engine. The
"ECO" w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h -
es, then goes off.
This operation is perfectly normal.

The cruise control cannot, in any
circumstances, replace the need
to respect speed limits, nor can
it replace the need for vigilance
and responsibility on the part of
the driver.
CRUISE CONTROL
System which automatically maintains
the speed of the vehicle at the value
programmed by the driver, without any
action on the accelerator pedal.
The cruise control is switched on
manually: it requires a minimum vehicle
s p e e d o f 2 5 m p h ( 4 0 k m / h ) , a s w e l l a s
the engagement of:
- f o u r t h g e a r o n a m a n u a l g e a r b o x ,
- second gear on a SensoDrive or a u t o m a t i c g e a r b o x , i n s e q u e n t i a l
mode,
- position A o n a S e n s o D r i v e g e a r b o x o r
position D o n a n a u t o m a t i c g e a r b o x .
The cruise control is switched off ma-
nually or by pressing the brake or clutch
pedal or on triggering of the ESP sys-
tem for safety reasons.
I t i s p o s s i b l e t o e x c e e d t h e p r o g r a m m e d
speed temporarily by pressing the ac-
celerator pedal.
To return to the programmed speed,
simply release the accelerator pedal.
Switching off the ignition cancels any
programmed speed value. The controls of this system are grouped
together on stalk
