ACCESS
Emergency control
To lock or unlock the doors manually in
the event of a malfunction of the central
locking system or failure of the battery.
Locking the driver’s door
Insert the key in the lock, then turn it
to the left.
Unlocking the driver’s door
Insert the key in the lock, then turn it
to the right.
Locking the front and rear
passenger doors
Remove the black cap, located on
the edge of the door, using the key.
Insert the key in the recess, then
turn it as far as it will go.
R e m o v e t h e k e y a n d r e fi t t h e c a p .
On the rear doors, check that the
child lock is not activated. Unlocking the front and rear
passenger doors
Pull the interior door opening con-
trol.
BOOT
Opening
After unlocking the vehicle using the
remote control or the key, pull the
handle and raise the tailgate.
Closing
Lower the tailgate using the interior
grab handle. -
when the engine is running
,
this warning lamp comes on,
accompanied by a message
on the multifunction screen for
a few seconds,
- when the vehicle is moving (speed
above 6 mph (10 km/h)), this warn-
ing lamp comes on, accompanied
by an audible signal and a message
on the multifunction screen for a few
seconds.
Tailgate release
System for mechanical unlocking of the
boot in the event of a battery or central
locking malfunction.
Unlocking
Fold back the rear benchseat to
gain access to the lock from inside
the boot.
Insert a small screwdriver into hole A
of the lock to unlock the tailgate.
If the tailgate is not closed correctly:

"Auto sequential" mode
In the automated mode, you can resume
control temporarily at any time using the
steering mounted control paddles.
The use of these paddles permits man-
ual selection of the gears in situations
which require a more rapid change-
down than in the automated mode (ar-
rival at a roundabout, leaving a car park
with a steep gradient, overtaking...).
T h e g e a r b o x e n g a g e s t h e r e q u i r e d g e a r
if the engine speed permits. AUTO re-
mains displayed in the instrument panel.
A f t e r a f e w m i n u t e s , t h e g e a r b o x r e -
sumes automatic control of the gears. Stopping the vehicle
Before switching off the engine, you can
change to position
N to be in neutral.
In this case, you must apply the parking
brake to immobilise the vehicle.
Reinitialisation
Following disconnection of the battery,
t h e g e a r b o x m u s t b e r e i n i t i a l i s e d .
Switch on the ignition. Operating fault
With the ignition on, if this
warning lamp comes on and
AUTO fl a s h e s , a c c o m p a -
nied by an audible signal and a mes-
sage in the multifunction screen, this
i n d i c a t e s a g e a r b o x f a u l t .
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer
o r a q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .
If you press the accelerator
pedal beyond the point of resis-
t a n c e , t h e g e a r b o x s e l e c t s t h e
gear below to permit sharper
acceleration.
AUTO and - appear in the in-
strument panel.
Select position N .
Press the brake pedal.
W a i t a p p r o x i m a t e l y 3 0 s e c o n d s
until N or a gear appears in the in-
strument panel.
Release the brake pedal.
T h e g e a r b o x i s o p e r a t i o n a l a g a i n . You must press the brake pedal
while starting the engine.
Never select neutral
N while the
vehicle is moving.
Only engage reverse gear R
when the vehicle is immobi-
lised, with your foot on the brake
pedal.
In all cases, you must apply the
parking brake to immobilise the
vehicle.

STOP & START
The Stop & Start system puts the en-
gine temporarily into standby - STOP
m o d e - d u r i n g s t o p s i n t h e t r a f fi c ( r e d
l i g h t s , t r a f fi c j a m s , e t c . . . ) . T h e e n g i n e
restarts automatically - START mode -
as soon as you want to move off. The
restart takes place instantly, quickly and
silently.
Perfect for urban use, the Stop & Start
system reduces fuel consumption and
e x h a u s t e m i s s i o n s a s w e l l a s o f f e r i n g
the comfort of silence when stationary. Operation
-
with a manual gearbox , at speeds
b e l o w 1 2 m p h ( 2 0 k m / h ) , p u t t h e
gear lever into neutral, then release
the clutch pedal,
Going into engine STOP mode
The
"ECO" warning lamp comes on in the instrument panel and
the engine goes into standby:
For your comfort when parking,
STOP mode is not available for
a few seconds after coming out
of reverse gear.
STOP mode does not affect the
functionality of the vehicle, such
as braking, power steering, for
e x a m p l e . Never refuel with the engine in
STOP mode; you must switch
off the ignition with the key.
A time counter calculates the sum of the periods in STOP
m o d e d u r i n g a j o u r n e y . I t
rests itself to zero every
time the ignition is switched
on with the key. Special cases: STOP mode
unavailable
STOP mode is not invoked when:
- the driver's door is open,
- the driver's seat belt is not fastened,
- t h e v e h i c l e h a s n o t e x c e e d e d 6 m p h
( 1 0 k m / h ) s i n c e t h e l a s t e n g i n e s t a r t
using the key,
- the engine is needed to maintain a comfortable temperature in the pas-
senger compartment,
- demisting is active,
- some special conditions (battery charge, engine temperature, brak-
ing assistance, ambient tempera-
ture...) where the engine is needed
to assure control of a system.
The "ECO" w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s
for a few seconds, then goes off.
This operation is perfectly normal.

Going into engine START mode The "ECO" warning lamp goes
off and the engine starts:
- with a manual gearbox , depress
the clutch pedal. Special cases: START invoked
automatically
START is invoked automatically when:
- the driver's door is open,
- the driver's seat belt is not fastened,
- t h e s p e e d o f t h e v e h i c l e e x c e e d s

- some special conditions (battery charge, engine temperature, brak-
ing assistance, ambient tempera-
ture...) where the engine is needed
to assure control of a system. Deactivation
At any time, press the
"ECO OFF" switch
to deactivate the system.
T h i s i s c o n fi r m e d b y t h e s w i t c h w a r n -
ing lamp coming on accompanied by a
message in the screen.
If the system has been deacti-
vated in STOP mode, the en-
gine restarts immediately.
Reactivation
Press the "ECO OFF" switch again.
The system is active again; this is
c o n fi r m e d b y t h e s w i t c h w a r n i n g l a m p
going off, accompanied by a message
in the screen.
The system is reactivated au-
tomatically at every new start
using the key.
W i t h a m a n u a l g e a r b o x i n S T O P
mode, if a gear is engaged with-
out fully depressing the clutch
pedal, a message is displayed
asking you to depress the clutch
pedal to restart the engine. The
"ECO" w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h -
es, then goes off.
This operation is perfectly normal.

Operating fault Maintenance
In the event of a malfunction with the sys-
tem, the "ECO OFF" switch warning lamp
fl a s h e s , t h e n c o m e s o n c o n t i n u o u s l y .
Have it checked by a CITROËN dealer
o r a q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .
In the event of a fault in STOP mode,
the vehicle may stall. It is then neces-
sary to switch off the ignition and start
the engine again using the key. Before working under the bon-
net, deactivate the Stop & Start
s y s t e m t o a v o i d a n y r i s k o f i n j u r y
resulting from automatic opera-
tion of START mode.
The Stop & Start system makes
use of advanced technology.
All work on this battery must be
done by a CITROËN dealer or a
q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .
This system requires a battery with a
s p e c i a l s p e c i fi c a t i o n a n d t e c h n o l o g y
(reference numbers available from a
C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r o r a q u a l i fi e d w o r k -
shop).
Fitting a battery not listed by CITROËN
introduces the risk of malfunction of the
system.

the additive reservoir low level is indicated by:

audible signal and a message that the
p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n s fi l t e r a d d i t i v e l e v e l i s
too low,
or
- fi x e d i l l u m i n a t i o n o f t h e s e r v i c e w a r n i n g lamp, accompanied by an audible signal
and a message that the particle emissions
fi l t e r a d d i t i v e l e v e l i s t o o l o w .
Topping up
The reservoir must be topped up with-
out delay by a CITROËN dealer or a
q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .
Used products
Avoid prolonged contact of used
o i l o r fl u i d s w i t h t h e s k i n .
M o s t o f t h e s e fl u i d s a r e h a r m f u l
to health or indeed very corro-
sive.
D o n o t d i s c a r d u s e d o i l o r fl u i d s
into sewers or onto the ground.
Take used oil to a CITROËN

waste disposal site.
Unless otherwise indicated, check these
components in accordance with the
Maintenance and Warranty Guide and ac-
cording to your engine.

B a t t e r y
The battery does not require any
maintenance.
H o w e v e r , c h e c k t h a t t h e t e r m i n a l s
are clean and correctly tightened,
particularly in summer and winter.
Air filter and passenger
compartment filter Refer to the Maintenance and
Warranty Guide for details of
the replacement intervals for
these components.
Depending on the environment
( e . g . d u s t y a t m o s p h e r e ) a n d t h e u s e o f
t h e v e h i c l e ( e . g . c i t y d r i v i n g ) , replace
t h e m t w i c e a s o f t e n i f n e c e s s a r y (refer
t o t h e " E n g i n e s " s e c t i o n ) .
A c l o g g e d p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l t e r
may have an adverse effect on the per-
formance of the air conditioning system
and generate undesirable odours.
Oil filter
R e p l a c e t h e o i l fi l t e r e a c h t i m e
the engine oil is changed.
Refer to the Maintenance and
Warranty Guide for details of
the replacement interval for
this component.
The presence of this label, in particular
with the Stop & Start system, indicates
t h e u s e o f a s p e c i fi c 1 2 V l e a d - a c i d b a t -
tery with special technology and speci-
fi c a t i o n , f o r w h i c h t h e i n v o l v e m e n t o f a
C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r o r a q u a l i fi e d w o r k -
shop is required when replacing or dis-
connecting the battery.
Failure to observe this recommendation
may shorten the life of the battery. When carrying out work on the battery,
refer to the "Practical information" sec-
tion for details of the precautions to be
taken before disconnecting the battery
and following its reconnection.
