MONITORING
Warning lamps
When the engine is running or the ve-
hicle is being driven, the switching on
of one of the following warning lamps
indicates a fault which requires action
on the part of the driver. Any fault resulting in the illumination of a warni
ng lamp must be investigated
further by reading the associated message in the mu ltifunction screen.
If you encounter any problems, do not hesitate to contact a CITROËN
d e a l e r o r a q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .
STOP fi x e d , a l o n e
or associated with another
warning lamp, accompanied
by an audible signal and a
message on the screen. Illumination of the warning
lamp is associated with a
serious braking system or
engine coolant temperature
problem.
Stop as soon as it is safe to do so as the engine
may cut out when driving.
Park, switch off the ignition and call a CITROËN
d e a l e r o r a q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .
Service temporarily.
Minor problems have
occurred for which there is
n o s p e c i fi c w a r n i n g l a m p . Identify the problem by reading the message
shown in the screen, such as, for example:
- the engine oil level,
- the screenwash level,
- the remote control battery,
- s a t u r a t i o n o f t h e p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n fi l t e r o n
Diesel vehicles (see "Checks - § particle
e m i s s i o n s fi l t e r " ) .
For any other faults, contact a CITROËN dealer or
a q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .

MONITORING
The level shown will only be
correct if the vehicle is on level
ground and the engine has been
off for more than 30 minutes.
Engine oil level indicator
System which informs the driver whether
the engine oil level is correct or not.
This information is indicated for a few
seconds when the ignition is switched
on, after the service information.
Oil level correct
T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y t h e fl a s h i n g o f
"OIL" , linked with the service warning
lamp, accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message in the multifunction
screen.
I f t h e l o w o i l l e v e l i s c o n fi r m e d b y a
check using the dipstick, the level must
be topped up to prevent damage to the
engine.
Oil level low
T h i s i s i n d i c a t e d b y t h e fl a s h i n g o f
"OIL--" .

Dipstick
There are 2 marks on the
dipstick:
- A = max; never exceed
this level (risk of dam-
age to the engine),
- B = min; top up the level
v i a t h e o i l fi l l e r c a p , u s i n g
the grade of oil suited to
your engine.

Additive level (Diesel with particle
emissions filter)
According to your version of instrument panel,
the additive reservoir low level is indicated by:
- fi x e d i l l u m i n a t i o n o f t h e p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n s fi l t e r w a r n i n g l a m p , a c c o m p a n i e d b y a n
audible signal and a message that the
p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n s fi l t e r a d d i t i v e l e v e l i s
too low,
or
- fi x e d i l l u m i n a t i o n o f t h e s e r v i c e w a r n i n g lamp, accompanied by an audible signal
and a message that the particle emissions
fi l t e r a d d i t i v e l e v e l i s t o o l o w .
Topping up
The reservoir must be topped up with-
out delay by a CITROËN dealer or a
q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .
Used products
Avoid prolonged contact of used
o i l o r fl u i d s w i t h t h e s k i n .
M o s t o f t h e s e fl u i d s a r e h a r m f u l
to health or indeed very corro-
sive.
D o n o t d i s c a r d u s e d o i l o r fl u i d s
into sewers or onto the ground.
Take used oil to a CITROËN
d e a l e r o r a q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p
( F r a n c e ) o r t o a n a u t h o r i s e d
waste disposal site.
Unless otherwise indicated, check these
components in accordance with the
Maintenance and Warranty Guide and ac-
cording to your engine.
Otherwise, have them checked by a C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r o r a q u a l i fi e d w o r k s h o p .
B a t t e r y
The battery does not require any
maintenance.
H o w e v e r , c h e c k t h a t t h e t e r m i n a l s
are clean and correctly tightened,
particularly in summer and winter.
Air filter and passenger
compartment filter Refer to the Maintenance and
Warranty Guide for details of
the replacement intervals for
these components.
Depending on the environment
( e . g . d u s t y a t m o s p h e r e ) a n d t h e u s e o f
t h e v e h i c l e ( e . g . c i t y d r i v i n g ) , replace
t h e m t w i c e a s o f t e n i f n e c e s s a r y (refer
t o t h e " E n g i n e s " s e c t i o n ) .
A c l o g g e d p a s s e n g e r c o m p a r t m e n t fi l t e r
may have an adverse effect on the per-
formance of the air conditioning system
and generate undesirable odours.
Oil filter
R e p l a c e t h e o i l fi l t e r e a c h t i m e
the engine oil is changed.

The presence of this label, in particular
with the Stop & Start system, indicates
t h e u s e o f a s p e c i fi c 1 2 V l e a d - a c i d b a t -
tery with special technology and speci-
fi c a t i o n , f o r w h i c h t h e i n v o l v e m e n t o f a
C I T R O Ë N d e a l e r o r a q u a l i fi e d w o r k -
shop is required when replacing or dis-
connecting the battery.
Failure to observe this recommendation
may shorten the life of the battery. When carrying out work on the battery,
refer to the "Practical information" sec-
tion for details of the precautions to be
taken before disconnecting the battery
and following its reconnection.

Brake pads
Brake wear depends on the
style of driving, particularly in
the case of vehicles used in
town, over short distances. It
may be necessary to have the
condition of the brakes checked, even
between vehicle services.
Unless there is a leak in the system, a

Manual parking brake
If a loss of effectiveness of this system is noticed, the parking
brake must be checked, even
between two services.
Checking this system must be done by

shop.
Only use products recommend-
ed by CITROËN or products of
e q u i v a l e n t q u a l i t y a n d s p e c i fi c a -
tion.
In order to optimise the opera-
tion of units as important as the
braking system, CITROËN se-
l e c t s a n d o f f e r s v e r y s p e c i fi c
products.
To avoid damaging the electrical
units, the use of a high pressure
washer in the engine compart-
ment is strictly prohibited .
Particle emission filter (Diesel)
According to your version of instrument
panel, the start of saturation of the par-
t i c l e e m i s s i o n s fi l t e r i s i n d i c a t e d b y :
Following prolonged operation of the vehicle at very low speed or
at idle, you may, in exceptional
circumstances, notice the emis-
sion of water vapour at the ex-
haust on acceleration. This does
not affect the behaviour of the
vehicle or the environment.

the warning lamp goes off.
