3 If the indicator light does not come on
initially when the key is turned to “ON”,
or if the indicator light remains on, have
a Yamaha dealer check the electrical
circuit.
When the key is turned to “OFF” and 30
seconds have passed, the indicator
light will start flashing indicating the im-
mobilizer system is enabled. After 24
hours have passed, the indicator light
will stop flashing, however the immobi-
lizer system is still enabled.
This model is also equipped with a self-
diagnosis device for the immobilizer
system. (See page 3-7 for an explana-
tion of the self-diagnosis device.)

Multi-function display

Be sure to stop the vehicle before
making any setting changes to the
multi-function display. Changing
settings while riding can distract the
operator and increase the risk of an
accident.The multi-function display is equipped
with the following:
a speedometer
a tachometer
an odometer
two tripmeters (which show the
distance traveled since they were
last set to zero)
a fuel reserve tripmeter (which
shows the distance traveled since
the fuel level warning light came
on)
a clock
a self-diagnosis device
a brightness control mode
TIP
Be sure to turn the key to “ON” be-
fore using the “SELECT” and “RE-
SET” buttons except for setting the
brightness control mode.
For the U.K. only: To switch the
speedometer and odometer/trip-
meter displays between kilometers
and miles, press the “SELECT”
button for at least two seconds.

Seat To remove the seat
1. Insert the key into the seat lock,
and then turn it clockwise.
2. Pull the seat off.
To install the seat
1. Insert the projections into the seat
holders as shown.2. Push the center of the seat down
to lock it in place.
3. Remove the key.
TIPMake sure that the seat is properly se-
cured before riding.

Adjusting the front fork

Always adjust both fork legs equal-
ly, otherwise poor handling and loss
of stability may result.This front fork is equipped with spring
preload adjusting bolts, rebound damp-
ing force adjusting bolts and compres-
sion damping force adjusting bolts.NOTICE

To avoid damaging the mechanism,
do not attempt to turn beyond the
maximum or minimum settings.Spring preload
To make any adjustment of the spring
preload, the adjuster has to be set to
the standard setting first.
To set the standard setting, start by
turning the adjusting bolt on each fork
leg in direction (a) until it stops, then
check the alignment mark position.
