6Operation whilst the vehicle is in motion Travelling on today's roads requires the dri ver's full attention at all times.
WARNING
It is fundamental that you are sufficiently alert while driving. Any distrac-
tion may lead to an accident, with the risk of injury.•Never lose sight of the road while using the equipment.•Use the equipment only when the state of the road, the weather and
traffic conditions permit.•When adjusting the volume, keep in mind that signals from outside the
vehicle, such as a police or fire brigade horn, must be audible at all times.Note
Depending on the country, some functions of the radio and navigation
system may not be available on the screen above a certain speed. This is not
an error, but rather compliance with the legal requirements of the country.Switching on or off– Briefly press the on/off switch page 3, fig. 1 to switch on
the unit. The system will initialise and the latest settings will
load. The most recently used audio source is activated.
– To turn off the equipment, briefly press the on/off button again.
When the unit is switched on, the last audio source used is activated at the
most recent volume setting, provided this does not exceed the pre-selected
“ switch-on volume ”  page 12.
Switch-off delay
When you remove the key from the ignition lock, the unit is switched off. You
can then switch the unit on again. The equipment automatically switches off
after 30 minutes, so as to not drain the vehicle's battery.
Convenience radio coding
If the equipment has been removed and then reinstalled in the vehicle, or if
the battery has been disconnected, it is no longer necessary to manually
deactivate the antitheft codification, since the code remains in the vehicle
memory after entering it the first time.
If the code numbers do not match, however, e.g. because the unit has been
installed in another vehicle, the electronic lock must be released manually
 page 88, “Entering the PIN”.

Inserting a memory card
– Insert a compatible memory card into the memory card slot with
the cut-off corner first and facing upwards page 3, fig. 1
until it clicks into place . Playback starts automatically
except in the following case: page 31, “Memory card empty or
data not readable”.
Displaying the memory card status
– Press the function selection button and then press the function button page 30, fig. 22 .
–In the System settings, press the function button.
An information window appears showing the used memory
space and capacity of the memory card.
– The information window closes again when you press the button or .
Removing a memory card
– The unit must be prepared for card removal before you remove the memory card, otherwise the memory card may be damaged.
– Press the function selection button and then press the function button.
– Turn the setting knob until the last function button is displayed and then press this button
 page 30, fig. 22 .
– Push on the inserted memory card against the spring resistance and the card will “jump” to its eject position. – Remove the memory card and press to confirm the message
on the screen.
“SD card ” appears as the media source being played in the bottom line of the
screen in the MEDIA main menu
To reselect a memory card that has already been inserted page 34,
“Opening the MEDIA main menu and selecting a media source”.
Only the readable audio files on the memory card are displayed. Other data
will be ignored page 26, “File formats”.
Memory card empty or data not readable
If you insert a memory card that does not contain any audio files, the unit will
not change to memory card mode. In the Media selection menu  page 28,
fig. 20 , the function button remains disabled and cannot be selected.
If the inserted memory card cannot be read, you are informed by a pop-up
window. Note the information on removing the memory card and press to
confirm. It is important that you wait for the instruction to remove the memory
card!
Navigation data on the memory card
In addition to audio files, navigation data can be stored on a memory card.
For reasons of copyright, the navigation data can only be read by the radio-
navigation system on which they were copied onto the memory card
 page 49. Audio files stored on the memory card, however, can be read by
any unit.
Caution
•A locking mechanism protects the memory card slot against incorrect
insertion of a memory card. Applying force may destroy this locking mecha-
nism! If a memory card cannot be inserted, make sure you are inserting it in
the correct position.

The AUX-IN socket is located at the bottom right of the radio-naviga-
tion system page 3, fig. 1 .
– Turn the volume control  page 3, fig. 1 anti-clockwise to
reduce the output volume.
– Connect up the external audio source

– Start playback on the external audio source.
– Press the button to access the MEDIA main menu.
– Press the main function selection button again to switch to the Media selection menu .

- changes between capital letters and lower case letters.
- opens the input mask for numbers and special characters. The function
button changes to . Press to return to the letter input window.
or – move the cursor in the input line to the left or right.  – space bar for entering spaces. – highlights all characters for which special characters are available

– deletes characters from right to left in the input line, starting at the
position of the cursor. If the cursor is at the left end of the line page 55,
fig. 42 , all the text in the input line will be deleted.Input window for selecting a destination address
Only letters and numbers that form part of an entry may be
selected.
When entering an address, it is only possible to enter text that
matches an address stored on the navigation data medium. When
entering the address, for example, selecting the city will always be
limited to the country previously selected. Additional selection
options are restricted by each new character in the input line
page 55.
Selecting the destination
– In the input window, press an available character in the keyboard block to add it to the input line fig. 43 . Alternatively, you can
select characters by turning and pressing the setting knob
 page 3, fig. 1 .
– With each additional character you enter, a new destination will be suggested in the input line.
– Press the function button to open the input window for numbers and special characters. Press to return to the letter
input window.
– You can delete characters in the input line from right to left by pressing the function button.
Narrowing down a destination and selecting it from the list
– Once you have entered sufficient characters to narrow down the number of matching destinations to less than 99, the number of
matching destinations will be displayed on the right in the input
line (in the illustration fig. 43: 15).
– To open the list for selection of a destination, press .

76Provision of navigation recommendations
Navigation recommendations are provided in the form of
spoken navigation announcements and visual directions on
the instrument panel display and the radio-navigation
system screen.
When route guidance starts, the system automatically switches to
the map view fig. 67 . After a few seconds, the function buttons
automatically disappear from the bottom line of the screen to
display more information on the route fig. 68 .
– To display the function buttons again, briefly press the bottom- right or bottom-left area of the screen.
– Turning the setting knob page 3, fig. 1 alters the map
scale. Turn clockwise to zoom in and turn anti-clockwise to zoom
out.
– Press the setting knob page 3, fig. 1 to hear the last navi-
gation recommendation again.
– Press the function selection button to switch between the Navigation main menu and the map view.

82Other navigation settingsYou can open the Navigation settings menu from any navigation
menu by pressing the function selection button. Specifying route options
– Press the
function button.
– Define the options for route calculation in the next menu as described page 74.
Changing the announcement volume
– Press the function button. A settings
menu opens in which you can set the volume for navigation
announcements. If you turn the setting knob anti-clockwise all
the way (display: Off), no navigation announcements will be
given during route guidance page 76.
Day / night
– Press the function button and select the desired setting in the pop-up window.
– Press the function button for the map view to change between night and day design, depending on whether the head-
lights are switched on or off.
– Press the or function button to manually establish night or day design for the map screen.
Displaying points of interest as symbols on the map
– Tick the checkbox to display the points of interest (petrol stations/car parks) as symbols on the map.

Anti-theft coding
88Anti-theft codingEntering the PINThe anti-theft coding electronically prevents unauthorised
persons from operating the unit in another vehicle.If, upon turning the equipment on, there is a keyboard on the screen
and a message that asks you to introduce the code, you must unlock
the equipment by entering the correct four-digit code. The number
of attempts remaining is shown on the second line of the display.
– Press a digit between and on the screen. The digit is
entered in the input line above.
– After you have entered a sequence of four digits, no more digits can be entered in the input line.
– Press the function button on the screen to delete digits in the input line from right to left, thus allowing you to make correc-
tions.
– When the correct code number is shown in the input line, press the function button.Code
The code number can only be requested “on-line” via the SEAT System, thus
making more effective anti-theft protection possible. Please contact your
SEAT dealership if you require assistance. Incorrect code number
If you enter an incorrect code while attempting to deactivate the electronic
lock, you may try
one more time. The number of attempts is shown on the
second line of the display.
If you enter an incorrect code number again, you must leave the radio
switched on for approximately one hour. This means it can not be used.
The indication disappears after an hour (the equipment must remain
switched on). The electronic lock can be released as described above.
The same cycle - two attempts, one hour lock - applies again.
