5. FAULT FINDING LOG
You will always be asked for this log:
●when requesting technical assistance from Techline,
●for approval requests when replacing parts for which approval is mandatory,
●to be attached to monitored parts for which reimbursement is requested. The log is needed for warranty
reimbursement, and enables better analysis of the parts removed.
6. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Safety rules must be observed during any work on a component to prevent any damage or injury:
–check the battery voltage to avoid incorrect operation of computer functions,
–use the proper tools. IMPORTANT!IMPORTANT
Any fault on a complex system requires thorough fault finding with the appropriate tools. The
FAULT FINDING LOG, which should be completed during the fault finding procedure, ensures a
record is kept of the procedure carried out. It is an essential document when consulting the
manufacturer.
IT IS THEREFORE MANDATORY TO FILL OUT A FAULT FINDING LOG EACH TIME FAULT FINDING IS
CARRIED OUT.

ALP1 No dialogue with the computer
NOTESSpecial notes:
Only consult this customer complaint after a multiplex network check using the
diagnostic tool.
Make sure that the vehicle + after ignition feed is activated. Check the presence and condition of the UPC automatic
transmission fuses.
Check that the tool is not the cause of the fault, by attempting dialogue with a different system (UCH, Injection,
etc.) on the same vehicle or another vehicle.
Carry out another multiplex network test on the vehicle using the diagnostic tool:
Is the automatic transmission computer recognised?
NO YES
Check that the computer connector is properly
connected and check the condition of its
connections.
Check for the automatic transmission supply fuse on
the passenger compartment connection unit, and its
condition.
Check the battery voltage:
9.5 V < battery voltage < 15.5 V
Carry out the necessary operations to obtain a
correct voltage: Carry out a full check on the battery
and the charging circuit (see Technical
Note 6014A, Charging circuit check).
Establish dialogue with the automatic transmission
computer.
Communication successful at first attempt?
NO YES
Is the identification
screen displayed
after 3 attempts?
End of fault finding.
AFTER REPAIRDeal with any faults detected by the diagnostic tool. Clear the computer memory.
Carry out a road test, then check with the diagnostic tool.

ALP2The starter is not actuated when the gear lever is in position P
and/or N
NOTESSpecial notes:
There must be no present or stored electrical faults.
Only consult this customer complaint after a complete check using the diagnostic tool
and a conformity check.
Apply this ALP after a complete check on the ignition circuit.
Check the battery voltage:
9.5 V < battery voltage < 15.5 V
Carry out the necessary operations to obtain a correct voltage: Carry out a full check on the battery and the
charging circuit (see Technical Note 6014A, Charging circuit check).
Carry out fault finding on the injection computer (see 13B, Diesel injection) and deal with the various faults
displayed on the diagnostic tool, if necessary.
Connect the diagnostic tool to the vehicle and establish dialogue with the automatic transmission computer.
Check statuses ET012 "Gear lever position" and ET013 "Gear engaged"; check the consistency between the tool
display and the locked positions of the gear lever (ignition on and engine stopped): "P" or "N".
Are they consistent?
YES NO
Check that the selection cable is operating and is
correctly positioned and fitted at the lever position
sensor located on the automatic transmission.
Run the starter motor:
Does the starter motor engage?
NO YES
End of fault finding.Contact the Techline.
AFTER REPAIRDeal with any faults detected by the diagnostic tool. Clear the computer memory.
Carry out a road test, then check with the diagnostic tool.
