"Rear screen open" warning
When the engine is running, if the
rear screen is not fully closed, you are
w a r n e d b y a m e s s a g e o n t h e m u l t i -
function display.
When the vehicle is moving (speed
greater than 6 mph (10 km/h)), if the
rear screen is not fully closed, you are
w a r n e d b y a n a u d i b l e s i g n a l , a m e s -
sage on the multifunction display and
lighting of the service warning light. Tailgate release
T h i s e n a b l e s t h e t a i l g a t e t o b e u n -
locked in the event of a central locking
fault.

FILLING WITH FUEL
The ignition must be switched
o f f a n d t h e v e h i c l e m u s t b e u n -
l o c k e d w h e n fi l l i n g w i t h f u e l . When this warning light comes
on in certain driving conditions
and depending on the engine,
the distance which can be
travelled with the fuel remaining may
be less than 30 miles (50 kilometres).
Note: should you run out of fuel, you
must add at least 6 litres.
Operating fault
A fuel gauge fault is indicated by the
fuel level indicator needle returning to
zero.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.

A Flex vehicle has been designed to
run on unleaded petrol (RON 95 or
RON 98) or ethanol (this is a mixture
c o n t a i n i n g 8 5 % e t h a n o l a n d 1 5 % u n -
leaded petrol, called E85).
So, regardless of the quantity of fuel
r e m a i n i n g i n y o u r t a n k a n d i r r e s p e c -
tive of its type (RON 95/RON 98, E85
o r a m i x t u r e o f t h e t w o ) , y o u c a n fi l l
your tank at any time with unleaded
petrol (RON 95 or RON 98) or ethanol
(E85).
There is no problem driving on unleaded
petrol only with this vehicle.
In winter conditions, starting the
e n g i n e f r o m c o l d m a y s o m e -
t i m e s p r o v e d i f fi c u l t . D u r i n g
these very cold periods you
are advised to favour unleaded petrol to
guarantee optimum starting conditions.

warning lights come on automatically.

ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESP)
This system is linked and complemen-
tary to the ABS system.
I n t h e e v e n t o f a s i g n i fi c a n t v a r i a t i o n
between the trajectory of the vehicle
and the path required by the driver,
the ESP monitors wheel by wheel and
acts automatically on the engine and
on the brake of one or more wheels, to
put the vehicle back on course, within
the limit of the laws of physics.
ESP operation The indicator light comes on. Disarming the ESP
In exceptional conditions (starting the
vehicle when it is stuck in the mud,
immobilised in snow, on unstable
ground...), it may be advisable to dis-
arm the ESP.
Press the "ESP OFF" switch, lo-
cated on the centre console.

light comes on: the ESP no longer acts
on the operation of the engine.

The system is triggered again:

message on the multifunction display.
Contact a PEUGEOT dealer to have
the system checked. Instrument panel indicator light.
The ESP offers exceptional
safety during normal driving,
but this should not encourage
the driver to take extra risks
(late braking) or drive at high
speed.
Correct operation of the system depends
on compliance with the manufacturer's
recommendations regarding the wheels
(tyres and rims), the braking compo-
nents, the electronic components and
the PEUGEOT assembly and operation
procedures.
After an impact, have the system
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer. ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS)
The ABS increases the stability and
manoeuvrability of your vehicle on
braking, in particular on poor or slippery
road surfaces.
This system comes into operation
automatically when there is a risk of
wheel lock.
Normal operation of the ABS may
make itself felt by slight vibrations of
the brake pedal.
This indicates that the ABS is
faulty.
It comes on on the instrument
panel screen also.
If it comes on permanently above
6 mph (10 km/h), it indicates an ABS
malfunction.
However, the vehicle retains conven-
tional servo-assisted braking.
Consult a PEUGEOT dealer.
EMERGENCY BRAKING ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
In an emergency, this system enables
the optimum braking pressure to be
reached more quickly, thus reducing
the stopping distance.
It is triggered by the speed at which
the brake pedal is activated.
The effect of this is a reduction in the
resistance of the pedal and an increase
i n b r a k i n g e f fi c i e n c y .
When braking in an emergency, press
fi r m l y w i t h o u t r e l e a s i n g t h e p r e s s u r e .
In emergency braking, press
