Child restraint systems 3
Opel child restraint systems are designed
specifically for your vehicle and thus
provide optimum safety for your child in
the event of an impact. The use of an Opel
child restraint system is therefore
recommended.
If a different child safe ty seat is used, follow
the manufacturer’s instructions for fitting
and use.
Selecting the right system
Your child should be transported facing
rearwards in the vehicle as long as
possible. The child’s neck area is still very
weak and in an accident they suffer less
stress in the semi-prone rearward position
than when sitting upright.
9 Warning
Disregard of these instructions may lead
to injuries or endanger life.

NotezChildren under 12 years or under 150 cm
tall should only travel in an appropriate
child safety seat.
z Never carry a child whilst travelling in the
vehicle. The child will become too heavy
to hold in the event of a collision.
z When transporting children, use a child
restraint system that is suitable for the
child's weight, age and height.
z Ensure that the child restraint system to
be installed is co mpatible with the
vehicle type.
z You should always observe the
instructions on in stallation and use
supplied with the child restraint system. z
Do not stick anything on the child
restraint systems and do not cover them
with any other materials.
z Only allow children to enter and exit the
vehicle at the side facing away from the
traffic.
z A child restraint system which has been
subjected to stress in an accident must
be replaced.
z When the child restraint system is not in
use, secure the seat with a seat belt or
remove it from the vehicle.
z The covers of the Opel child restraint
system can be wiped clean. The following Opel ch
ild restraint systems
have been approved for installation in your
Antara:
If child restraint systems of other
manufacture are to be installed, ensure
that they conform to the appropriate
safety regulations. Group, weight and age

zAfter airbags deflate, you may notice a
burning smell, smoke and white powder
in the interior, which is normal. Although
they may cause skin or eye irritation,
these substances are non-toxic.
z Hazard warning lamps may flash and
locked doors may be unlocked
automatically when airbags deploy 3.
z The speeds, directions of movement and
deformation properties of the vehicles,
and the properties of the obstacle
concerned, determine the severity of the
accident and triggering of the airbags.
z The degree of damage to your vehicle
and the resulting repair costs alone are
not indicative that the criteria for
triggering of the airbags were met.
z Do not perform any modifications to the
components of the airbag systems, as
this will render the vehicle unroadworthy. z
We recommend having the steering
wheel, the instrument panel, all panelling
parts, the door seals, handles and the
front seats removed by a workshop.
z When disposing of the vehicle, please
observe the applicable safety
regulations. Take the vehicle to a
recycling company for disposal.

heavy objects must never be carried on
the lap of passengers; risk of fatal injury.
9 Warning
No child restraint system may be
