INDEXOVERHEATED ENGINE COOLANT
(red)
When the ignition key is turned to MAR, the
warning light turns on but should go off after a few
seconds.
The warning light turns on when the engine is overheated.
If the warning light comes on, proceed as follows:
❒when driving normally: stop the vehicle, switch off the
engine and check that the water level in the reservoir
is not below the MIN mark. If it is not, wait for a few
minutes for the engine to cool down then slowly and
carefully open the cap, top up with coolant and check
that the level is between the MIN and MAX marks.
Also visually check for leaks. Go to a Fiat Dealership
if the warning light comes on again when the engine is
next started.
❒if the vehicle is used under demanding conditions (e.g.
towing trailers uphill or fully loaded): slow down and,
if the light stays on, stop the vehicle. Stop for two or
three minutes with the engine running and slightly ac-
celerated to assist better coolant circulation. Then
switch the engine off. Check the correct fluid level as
described previously.
ç
IMPORTANT On demanding routes, it is advisable to keep
the engine on and slightly accelerated for a few minutes
before switching it off.
A specific message is displayed on certain versions.
BATTERY CHARGE LOW (red)
The warning light comes on when the ignition
key is turned to MAR, but it should go out as
soon as the engine has started (with the engine
running at idle speed a brief delay before going out is ac-
ceptable).
If the warning light stays on, contact a Fiat Dealership im-
mediately.

INDEXWINDSCREEN/REAR WINDOW WASHER
FLUID fig. 180-181-182-183-184
To add fluid, remove cap D by manoeuvring the special
tab.
Pour in a mixture of water and TUTELA PROFESSION-
AL SC35 liquid, in the following concentrations:
30% TUTELA PROFESSIONAL SC35 and 70% water in
summer.
50% TUTELA PROFESSIONAL SC35 and 50% water in
winter.
At temperatures below –20°C, use undiluted TUTELA
PROFESSIONAL SC35 fluid.
Check level through the reservoir.
Close cap D by pressing on the centre section. ENGINE COOLANT fig. 180-181-182-183-184
The coolant level should be checked when the engine is
cold and should be between the MIN and MAX lines on
the reservoir. If the level is low, slowly pour into the reser-
voir filler neck Ca mixture of 50% distilled water and
50% PARAFLU UP (made by PETRONAS LUBRI-
CANTS) until the level approaches MAX.
The mixture of 50% PARAFLU UP and 50% distilled wa-
ter protects against freezing down to temperatures of
–35°C. For particularly harsh climate conditions, we rec-
ommended using a mixture of 60% PARAFLU UP and 40%
distilled water.
PARAFLU UP anti-freeze is used in the en-
gine cooling system. Use the same fluid as in
the cooling system when topping up.
PARAFLU UP may not be mixed with any other type
of fluid. If this happens, do not start the engine; con-
tact a Fiat Dealership.
The cooling system is pressurised. If the cap
needs replacing, do so with another origi-
nal or the effectiveness of the system may be com-
promised. Do not remove the cap from the reser-
voir when the engine is hot: you may get burned.
WARNING
Do not travel if the windscreen washer
reservoir is empty: using the windscreen
washer is essential for improving visibility.
Some commercial windscreen washer additives
are flammable. The engine compartment contains
hot parts which could cause a fire if they come
into contact with these additives.
