Keep in mind that an unprogrammed key is also consid-
ered an invalid key even if it is cut to fit the ignition lock
cylinder for that vehicle.
If the Vehicle Security Light comes on during normal
vehicle operation (when the vehicle has been running for
longer than 10 seconds), a fault has been detected in the
electronics and the vehicle should be serviced as soon as
possible by an authorized dealer.
NOTE:
•The Sentry KeyImmobilizer System is not compat-
ible with remote starting systems. Use of these systems
may result in vehicle starting problems and loss of
security protection.
•Exxon/Mobil SpeedPass™, additional Sentry Keys ,
or any other transponder equipped components on the
same keychain will notcause a key-related (transpon-
der) fault unless the additional part is physically heldagainst the ignition key
being used when starting the
vehicle. Cell phones, pagers, or other radio frequency
controlled electronics will not cause interference with
this system.
All of the keys provided with a new vehicle have been
programmed to that vehicle’s electronics.
Replacement Keys
NOTE: Only keys that have been programmed to the
vehicle electronics can be used to start the vehicle. Once
a Sentry Key has been programmed to a vehicle, it
cannot be programmed to any other vehicle.
CAUTION!
Always remove Sentry Keys from the vehicle and
lock all doors when leaving the vehicle unattended.

The front airbag system consists of the following:
•Occupant Restraint Controller
•Side Remote Acceleration Sensors (If equipped)
•Airbag Warning Light
•Driver Airbag
•Passenger Airbag
•Front Seat Mounted Side Airbags (If equipped)
•Steering Wheel and Column
•Instrument Panel
•Interconnecting Wiring
•Knee Impact Bolsters
•Driver Inflatable Knee Blocker
•Front Acceleration Sensors
•Driver and Front Passenger Seat Belt Pretensioners
•Occupant Classification System (OCS) for the Front
Passenger Seat

How The Airbag System Works
•
TheOccupant Restraint Controller (ORC) determines
if a frontal collision is severe enough to require the
airbags to inflate. The front airbag inflators are de-
signed to provide different rates of airbag inflation
from direction provided by the ORC. The ORC may
also modify the rate of inflation based on the occupant
size provided by the Occupant Classification Module.
The ORC will not detect roll over.

To Accelerate for Passing
Depress the accelerator as you would normally. When the
pedal is released, the vehicle will return to the set speed.
Using Electronic Speed Control on Hills
NOTE:The Electronic Speed Control system maintains
speed up and down hills. A slight speed change on
moderate hills is normal.
Vehicles equipped with four-speed automatic transaxles
may experience a downshift to 3rd gear while climbing
uphill or descending downhill. This downshift to 3rd
gear is necessary to maintain vehicle set speed.
On steep hills a greater speed loss or gain may occur so
it may be preferable to drive without Electronic Speed
Control.
GARAGE DOOR OPENER — IF EQUIPPED
HomeLink replaces up to three remote controls (hand-
held transmitters) that operate devices such as garage door openers, motorized gates, lighting, or home security
systems. The HomeLink
unit operates off your vehicle’s
battery.
The HomeLink buttons that are located in the headliner
or sun visor designate the three different HomeLink
channels.HomeLink Buttons

NOTE:The air conditioning system of your vehicle
contains R-134a, a refrigerant that does not deplete the
ozone layer in the upper atmosphere.
The controls are as follows:
Fan Control
Use the Fan control to regulate the
amount of air forced through the
system in any mode you select.
The fan speed increases as you
move the control to the right from
the off position.
NOTE: For vehicles equipped with Remote Start, the
climate controls will not function during Remote Start
operation if the fan control is left in the “O” (off) position.
Mode Control (Air Direction)
The Mode control allows you to
choose from several patterns of air
distribution. You can select either
a primary mode, as identified by
the symbols, or a blend of two of
these modes. The closer the con-
trol is to a particular mode, the
more air distribution you receive
from that mode
Panel Air is directed through the outlets in the instrument
panel. These outlets can be adjusted to direct airflow.
Bi-Level Air is directed through the panel and floor outlets.
