- The release key must be configured for insertion
:::;, page 69, fig. 66. If necessary, turn the red hand le
segment counterclockw ise as far as it will go to configure
the key for insertion.
- Insert the release key into the opening:::;,
page 74, fig. 82.
- Turn the release key until you can feel the lugs at the tip of the key engage ins ide the locking mechanism .
- Rotate the release key a quarter turn c lockwise to the
stop. The release key is now
hanging engaged in t he
locking mechanism .•
Step 9: Locking the power top
T he power top has to be locked in position using the
manual release key.

- Turn the red handle segment on the release key until you
can hear it engage.
- Turn the entire re lease key clockw ise to the stop
:::;, fig. 83 . This opens the latc hes on the ins ide of the
power top and causes the top to spring up s lightly.
- Pu ll the power top down with the release key:::;, fig. 84
and simultaneously turn the key counter -clockwise as far
as it will go. The power top is now locked.
Remo ving the manual release key
- Turn the red handle segme nt on the release key counter­
clockwise as far as it wi ll go.
- Turn the entire key counter-clockw ise and t hen pull it
down and out.
- Fit the cap back into t he opening and p ut the manual
release key back into its storage compartment behind
the fuse box cover .
The top is now completely closed. Please contact an Audi dealer as
soon as possible to identify the cause of the malfunction of the
power c los ing mechanism. •

The headlights only work when the ignition is switched on . While
starting the engine or when sw itching off the ignition , the head ­
lights wi ll go of f and only the side marker lights wil l remain lit .

lights are still on, a bu zzer will sound as long as the driver 's door is

In the "AUTO" position, light sensors monitor outside light
conditions and s witch the head- and t ail lights on and off
as required.

Deactivating
- Turn the light switch to posit ion 0.
In the switch position AUTO the automati c head -a nd ta il light
contr ol
is activated . The corresponding symbol on the light switch
is lit.
Light sensors located in the ins ide mirror housing and stem
constantly check the light conditions surrounding the vehicle . If
ambient brightness falls below a factory set value (e .g. when driving
into a tunnel), the head -and tai llights including the license plate
illumination are automatically turned on. When ambient brightness
increases again, the external lights are turned off again

• In the AUTO mode , the low beams are turned off when the igni ­
tion is turned off. The remaining lights are turned off when the key is taken out of the ignition lock.
• Do not at tach stickers to the windshield in front of the sensors as
this can disable the automatic head- and taillight contro l and the
automatic glare -dimming of the rearview mirror(s).
• Always observe the specific local regulations for your area when
to use your lights .
• In the event of a light sensor malfunction, the driver information
display wi ll show the sy mbol -.
If a light sensor malfu nction is indi ­
cated, you must use the light switch to turn the low beams on and
off. a

Coming home /leaving home function gr!}
The coming home/leaving home function switches on the
external lights on a vehicle parked in the dark to illumi ­
nate the surroundings.

- Briefly press the knob g{!} => fig. 91 (colored dot) so it will
stand out from the panel.
Turn the knob to position

The coming home/leaving home function is controlled by light
sensors located in the inside mirror housing and stem. The system
is activated if all of the conditions below are fulfilled: •
the knob
lJ has been turned to position 1
• the driving lights and the ignition have been switched off
• the vehicle is parked in poor light or darkness with the sensors
detecting little or no light at all.
Coming home situation
In darkness , the activated system will turn on the front fog lights, tail
lights, and rear licence plate light as soon as the driver's door is
opened from inside.
As long as one of the doors or the rear lid remains open, the set of
external lights will keep burning for about two minutes maximum.
To provide ligh t for departure, the set of vehicle lights will keep
burning for about another 30 seconds after all doors and the rear lid
have been closed.
The factory -set time of 30 seconds until the lights are switched off
can be adjusted if you prefer a longer or shorter duration. Have the
adjustment done by your Audi dealer or a qualified workshop . The
system can be adjusted to keep the lights burning for a maximum
of 60 seconds.
Leaving home situation
As soon as the vehicle is unlocked by pressing the@ button on your
remote control, the set of external lights is switched on .
The external lights are switched off as soon as the driver's door is opened from outside. Even if you had the system readjusted to keep
the lights burning for an extended time for coming home, the
external lights will be turned off if you do not open the driver's door
within 60 seconds after unlocking see chapter "Opening and Closing" in your Owner's Manual. If the lights are switched off
before you reach the driver's door, press them button once more to
turn them on again. .,_

[ i J Tip s
• Do not attach any stickers to the windshield in front of the two
light sensors, as this would interfere with both the automatic oper ­
ation of the head ligh ts and the automatic dimming of the inside
mirror(s).
• If the veh icle is remotely un locked and locked
three times in
succession,
leaving home will not turn on the lights a fourth time to
safeguard the battery and lights.
• If you wish to use the coming home/leaving home function regu ­
larly, you can leave it activated at all times wi thout risking perma­
nent strain on the electrical system. As the system is contro lled by
light sensors, i t wi ll only b e energi zed in darkness.
• Frequent use of the coming home/leaving home function for
approac hin g and departing a vehicle parked in the dark wi ll strain
the batte ry. This applies particularly if only short distances are
driven between stops . Occasiona lly drive longer distances to make
sure the battery is recharged sufficient ly.
• If the fo g lights have been switched on by the coming
home/leaving home function, they will always be switched off when
you switch on the ig nition. •

The interi or lights include the both readi ng lights for the
driver and the front passenger.

Deactivating door contact switch
- Press button @. The light in the button goes out.
Front re ading light s '{~
Press right or left swi tch ® to turn the front reading light
on your side on o r off.
When you have the interior light switch moved to the door contact
position (center position), the interior light illuminate whenever you
unlock the vehic le or when you open a door. The interior light goes
out after approximate ly 30 seconds after you have c losed the door.
A lso, when you lock your veh ic le or switch on the ignition, the inte­
rior light goes out. If you leave a door open, the interior
light wi ll go out after ten
m inutes so that it does not dra in the battery .
A dimmer automatically controls the brightness of the lights when
they are switched on. •
Luggage compartm ent light
These lights inside the luggage compartment come on automati ­
ca lly when the rear lid is opened. The lights turn off automatically if
the lid is left open for more then 10 minutes. •

Using the sun visors makes driving safer.

The sun visors for the driver and front passenger can be removed
from their center mountings and moved toward the door windows
G) ~ fig. 96 to protect against side glare.
The vanity mirror in the sun visors is covered by a lid . When you lift
the lid
0 the mirror i llumi nation automatically illumina tes . When
you close the lid or fold the sun visor back up, the illumination also
goes out .•

selector lever into R (Reverse). This feature provides a better view of
the curb when you are backing into a parking space.
The mirror returns to its initial position as soon as reverse gear is disengaged and vehicle speed is above about 9 mph (15 km/h). The
mirror also returns to its initial position if the switch is moved to the
driver's outside mirror © or@ .
Memory setting for the outside mirrors*
On vehicles with the memory function*, when you store a seat posi ­
tion in the memory, the position of the outside mirrors is also stored
in the memory =>
page 101.

• Curved (i.e. convex) mirror surfaces increase your field of view.
Remember that vehicles or other objects will appear smaller and
farther away than when seen in a flat mirror . If you use this mirror to
estimate distances of following vehicles when changing lanes, you
could estimate incorrectly and cause an accident.
• If the mirror housing is moved unintentionally (for example,
while parking your vehicle), then you must first fold the mirror elec­
trically. Do not readjust the mirror housing manually. You could
damage the motor which controls the mirror.

I f there should be a malfunction in the electrical system, you can
still adjust the outside mirrors by pressing the edge of the mirror. •

Automatic dimming for the outside mirrors *
The outside mirrors dim at the same time as the inside mirror. When
th e ignition is switched on, the mirrors automatically dim
depending on the amount of flight striking the mirrors (such as
headlights shining into the vehicle from the rear). When you switch on the interior light, or when you move the
selector lever into
R (Reverse), the dimming function stops and the
mirrors return to their original condition (not darkened).
[ i] Tips
The automatic dimming feature on the mirrors will not operate
properly if the light shining on the mirrors is blocked by other
objects .•

Activating or deactivating the compass
The direction is displayed on the interior rear view mirror.

To activate or deactivate, hold the©~ fig. 102 button
down until the red display appears or disappears.
The digital compass only works with the ignition turned on. The
directions are displayed as initials:
N (North), NE (Northeast), E
(East), SE (Southeast), S (South), SW (Southwest), W (West), NW
(Northwest).

Adjusting the manual seats
Position, angle and shape of the manual seats can be
adjusted to provide safe and comfortable seating.
Reed and heed all WARNINGS ~ & before you adjust your
seat.
Moving the seat forward or backward
Lift lever G) ~ page 93, fig. 104 and slide the seat to the
desired position.
- Release the lever
(D and then move the seat further until
you feel and hear it engage .
Extending/shortening the seat cushion*
-Grab the handle just below the front edge of the seat®
~ page 93 , fig. 104.
- Slide the seat cushion extens ion backward or forward to
the desired position. Release the handle to lock the
extension in place.
Adjusting the seat cushion angle
- Pull the lever 0 ~ page 93, fig. 104 up and pump it to
raise the front of the seat cushion.
- Push the lever
0 down and pump it to lower the front of
the seat cushion. -
In either case, shift your weight in the direction you want
the seat to tilt to support the adjustment action.
Adjusting the seat height
- Pull the lever © up and pump it to raise the seat .
- Push the lever © down and pump it to lower the seat.
Adjusting the lumbar support
-Press the corresponding depression on the switch shell
© to adjust the height and contour of the lumbar
support, see~ page 98.
Adjusting the seatback angle
- Lean forward to take your weight off the seatback.
- Turn the hand wheel © in the direction you want the
seatback to ti It.
& WARNING
• Never adjust the driver or front passenger seat while the
vehicle is moving. If you do this while the vehicle is moving, you
will be out of position. Always adjust the driver's or front
passenger seat when the vehicle is not moving.
• Be careful when adjusting the seat height. Check to see that no
one is in the way, or serious injury could result!
• To reduce the risk of injury in the case of sudden braking or
accident, front passengers must never ride in a moving vehicle
with the seatback reclined. Safety belts and the airbag system
only offer maximum protection when the seatback is upright and
the safety belts are properly positioned on the body. The more the
seatback is reclined, the greater the risk of personal injury from an
incorrect seating position and improperly positioned safety
belts! •
