Press the brake pedal to start
the engine with the automatic
gearbox.

The other indicator lamps appear on
the large screen, located in the centre
of the instrument panel.
Automatic locking.
If this is displayed, it indicates
that you have activated auto-
matic locking of the doors and
boot while driving.
Speed limiter.
If this is displayed, it indi-
cates that you have activat-
ed the speed limiter mode.
If this is displayed, it indi-
cates that you can set the
speed limiter speed value to
be stored. Cruise control.
If this is displayed, it indicates
that you have activated the
cruise control mode.
If this is displayed it indi-
cates that you can set the
cruise control speed value
to be stored.
Automatic gearbox.
Automatic wiping.
If this is displayed, it indicates
that you have activated the au-
tomatic windscreen wiping.
Automatic lighting.
If this is displayed, it indicates
that you have activated auto-
matic lighting. This display indicates the gear
engaged in the automatic or
manual operation programme.
This display indicates the op-
erating programme selected
(automatic, sport, snow or
manual).
This display indicates the position
that you have selected on the gear
selection gate (P, R, N or D).

Water in diesel ** .
If this is displayed, it indicates
the presence of water in the
d i e s e l fi l t e r .
There is a risk of damage to the
injection system on Diesel en-
gines.
Automatic headlamp
adjustment.
If this is displayed, it indicates the
occurrence of a fault in the auto-
matic headlamp adjustment.
P a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n fi l t e r
(Diesel).
If this is displayed, linked with
the service warning lamp, it indi-
cates the start of saturation of the parti-
c l e e m i s s i o n fi l t e r o r a l o w d i e s e l a d d i t i v e
reservoir level.
A s s o o n a s t r a f fi c c o n d i t i o n s p e r m i t , r e -
g e n e r a t e t h e fi l t e r b y d r i v i n g a t a s p e e d
of at least 40 mph (60 km/h) until the
service warning lamp is switched off.
If the service warning lamp is still dis-
played, the additive level is low. Have it
topped up by a PEUGEOT dealer with-
out delay.
D e fl a t e d w h e e l .
If this is displayed, it indicates
a n i n s u f fi c i e n t p r e s s u r e i n o n e
or more wheels.
Check the pressure of the tyres as soon
as possible.
Punctured wheel.
If this is displayed, it indicates
that one or more wheels are
punctured. Stop the vehicle as
soon as it is safe to do so.
Change the damaged wheel and have it
repaired by a PEUGEOT dealer.
T y r e u n d e r - i n fl a t i o n
detection.
If this is displayed, it indicates
the occurrence of a fault on one
o f t h e s e n s o r s o r i n t h e t y r e u n d e r - i n fl a -
tion detection system.
It may also indicate the absence of a
sensor when the spare wheel, which
d o e s n o t h a v e a s e n s o r , i s fi t t e d i n p l a c e
of a punctured wheel.
Automatic lighting.
If this comes on, it indicates the
occurrence of a fault in the au-
tomatic lighting.
Use the other positions of the lighting
stalk to control the lighting manually.
Visual and/or audible
parking assistance.
If this comes on, in forward and/or
reverse gear, it indicates a fault in
the parking assistance system.
Automatic gearbox.
If this is displayed, it indicates
the occurrence of a fault in the
automatic gearbox. The gear-
box will then operate in down-grade
mode, locked on 3rd gear.
It may also be displayed if a door is
opened.
Invalid value.
If this is displayed, it indicates
the occurrence of a fault in the
programme of the automatic
gearbox.
Position P or N.
If this is displayed, it indicates
that the gear lever must be
placed in position
P or N in or-
der to start the engine.
** According to country.
Power steering.
If this is displayed, it indicates
the occurrence of a fault in the
power steering. Stop the vehicle
as soon as it is safe to do so.

When parking on a slope, direct
your wheels against the pavement,
pull the parking brake on and en-
gage a gear.
PARKING BRAKE
Mechanical brake to hold the vehicle
when stationary.
Applying
Pull the parking brake lever to im-
mobilise your vehicle. When the vehicle is being driv-
en, if this warning lamp and the
STOP warning lamp come on,
accompanied by an audible sig-
nal and a message on the multifunction
screen, this indicates that the parking
brake is still on or has not been properly
released.
Releasing
Pull on the lever and press the but-
ton A to release the parking brake.
6-SPEED MANUAL GEARBOX
As a safety precaution and to facili-
tate starting of the engine:
- always select neutral,
- press the clutch pedal.
Only engage reverse gear when
the vehicle is stationary with the
engine at idle.
Engaging reverse gear
Raise the ring under the knob and
push the gear lever to the left then
forwards.

GEAR CHANGE INDICATOR *
System which reduces fuel consump-
tion by advising the driver to change
u p o n v e h i c l e s fi t t e d w i t h a m a n u a l
gearbox.
Operation
The system intervenes only when driv-
ing economically.
Depending on the driving situation and
your vehicle's equipment, the system
may advise you to skip one or more
gears. You can follow this instruc-
tion without engaging the intermediate
gears.
The gear engagement recommenda-
tions must not be considered compulso-
r y . I n f a c t , t h e c o n fi g u r a t i o n o f t h e r o a d ,
t h e a m o u n t o f t r a f fi c a n d s a f e t y r e m a i n
determining factors when choosing
the best gear. Therefore, the driver re-
mains responsible for deciding whether
or not to follow the advice given by the
system.
This function cannot be deactivated. The information appears in the form
of an arrow on the instrument panel
display.
Depending on your vehicle's equipment,
this arrow may be accompanied by the
recommended gear. In the case of driving which makes
particular demands on the perfor-
m a n c e o f t h e e n g i n e ( fi r m p r e s -
sure on the accelerator pedal, for
example, when overtaking...), the
system will not recommend a gear
change.
The system never suggests:
- e n g a g i n g fi r s t g e a r ,
- engaging reverse gear,
- engaging a lower gear.
* According to engine. Example:
- You are in third gear.
- You press the accelerator pedal
moderately.
- The system may suggest that you engage a higher gear, if appropri-
ate.

"PORSCHE TIPTRONIC SYSTEM" AUTOMATIC GEARBOX
Four or six speed automatic gearbox
which offers a choice between the com-
fort of fully automatic operation, en-
hanced by sport and snow programmes,
or manual gear changing.
Therefore, four driving modes are of-
fered:
- automatic operation for electronic
management of the gears by the
gearbox,
- sport programme for a more dynamic
style of driving,
- snow programme to improve driving
when traction is poor,
- manual operation for sequential
changing of the gears by the driver. Gear lever
P. Park.
- Immobilisation of the vehicle, park- ing brake on or off.
- Starting the engine.
R. Reverse.
- Reversing manoeuvres, vehicle sta- tionary, engine at idle.
N. Neutral.
- Immobilisation of the vehicle, parking brake on.
- Starting the engine.
D. Automatic operation.
M.+/- Manual operation with sequential
changing of the four or six gears.
Push forwards to change up through
the gears.
or
Pull rearwards to change down
through the gears. Displays on the instrument panel
When you move the lever in the gate to
select a position, the corresponding in-
dicator lamp is displayed on the instru-
ment panel.
