To attach this belt, raise the head re-
straint of the seat, then pass the buckle
b e t w e e n t h e r o d s . T h e n fi x t h e b u c k l e
on ring B , then tension the top tether
belt.
If a child is not installed in a vehicle cor-
rectly, the child's protection in the event
of a collision will be compromised.

ble of seating positions for ISOFIX child
seats.
The rear seats must be in the fully back
position to install ISOFIX seats.

The driver must ensure that passen-
gers use the seat belts correctly and
that they are all restrained securely
before setting off.
Wherever you are seated in the ve-
hicle, always fasten your seat belt,
even for short journeys.
Do not invert the seat belt buckles as
t h e y w i l l n o t f u l fi l t h e i r r o l e f u l l y .
T h e s e a t b e l t s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n i n -
ertia reel permitting automatic adjust-
ment of the length of the strap to your
size. The seat belt is stored automat-
ically when not in use.
Before and after use, ensure that the
seat belt is reeled in correctly.
The lower part of the strap must be
positioned as low as possible on the
pelvis.
The upper part must be positioned in
the hollow of the shoulder.
T h e i n e r t i a r e e l s a r e fi t t e d w i t h a n a u -
tomatic locking device which comes
into operation in the event of a colli-
sion, emergency braking or if the ve-
hicle rolls over. You can release the
d e v i c e b y p u l l i n g fi r m l y o n t h e s t r a p
and releasing it so that it re-winds
slightly. In order to be effective, a seat belt
must:
- be tightened as close to the body
as possible,
- be pulled in front of you with a smooth movement, checking that
it does not twist,
- be used to restrain only one per- son,
- not bear any trace of cuts or fra- ying,
- n o t b e c o n v e r t e d o r m o d i fi e d t o avoid affecting its performance.
In accordance with current safety
regulations, all repairs and checks
must be carried out by a CITROËN
dealer who guarantees that the work
is carried out correctly.
Have your seat belts checked regu-
larly by a CITROËN dealer and par-
ticularly if the straps show signs of
damage.
Clean the seat belt straps with soapy
water or a textile cleaning product,
sold by CITROËN dealers.
After folding or moving a seat or rear
bench seat, ensure that the seat belt
is positioned and reeled in correctly. Recommendations for children
Use a suitable child seat if the pas-
senger is less than 12 years old or
shorter than one and a half metres.
Never use the same seat belt to se-
cure more than one person.
Never allow a child to travel on your
lap.
In the event of an impact
Depending on the nature and se-
riousness of the impacts , the pre-
tensioning device may be triggered
before and independently of the air-
bags. Triggering of the pre-tensioners
is accompanied by a slight discharge
of harmless smoke and a noise, due
to the activation of the pyrotechnic
cartridge incorporated in the system.
In all cases, the airbag warning lamp
comes on.
Following an impact, have the seat
belts system checked, and if neces-
sary replaced, by a CITROËN dealer.

If at least one of the two airbag
warning lamps come on continu-
ously, do not install a child seat on
the front passenger seat.
Have the system checked by a
CITROËN dealer.
Operating fault
If this warning lamp comes on on the instrument panel, accompa-
nied by an audible warning and
a message on the multifunction
screen, contact a CITROËN dealer to
have the system checked. The airbags
may no longer be triggered in the event
of a serious impact.
Reactivation
When you remove the child seat, turn
switch
1 to the "ON" position to reacti-
vate the airbag and so assure the safety
of your front passenger in the event of
an impact.
With the ignition on, this warn-
ing lamp comes on on the instru-
ment panel or on the seat belt
and passenger's front airbag
warning lamp display for approximately
one minute, if the passenger's front air-
bag is activated. To assure the safety of your child,
it is imperative that the passenger's
front airbag is deactivated when
you install a "rearwards-facing"
child seat on the front passenger
seat.
Otherwise, the child would risk be-
ing seriously injured or killed if the
airbag were triggered.
According to version, this warn-
ing lamp comes on either on
the instrument panel or on the
seat belt and passenger's front
airbag warning lamp display when the
ignition is on and until the airbag is re-
activated. I f t h i s w a r n i n g l a m p fl a s h e s ,
contact a CITROËN dealer.
The passenger's front airbag
may no longer be triggered in
the event of a serious impact.
Deactivation
Only the passenger's front airbag can
be deactivated:
with the ignition off , insert the key
in the passenger air bag disarming
switch 1 ,
turn it to the "OFF" position,
then, remove the key keeping the
switch in this position.

safety rules:
Sit in a normal upright position.
Wear a correctly adjusted seat belt.
Do not leave anything between the
occupants and the airbags (a child,
pet, object...). This could hamper the
operation of the airbags or injure the
occupants. Front airbags
Do not drive holding the steering wheel by its spokes or resti
ng your hands on
the centre part of the wheel.
Passengers must not place their feet on the dashboard.
If possible, do not smoke as deployment of the airbags can cau se burns or the
risk of injury from a cigarette or pipe.
Never remove or pierce the steering wheel or hit it violently.
Side airbags
U s e o n l y a p p r o v e d c o v e r s o n t h e s e a t s . T h e s e w i l l n o t h i n d e r i n fl a t i o n o f t h e
side airbags. Consult a CITROËN dealer.
D o n o t fi x o r a t t a c h a n y t h i n g t o t h e s e a t b a c k s ( c l o t h i n g . . . ) . T h i s c o u l d c a u s e
injury to the chest or arms if the side airbag is triggered.
Do not sit with the upper part of the body any nea rer to the door than necessary.
Curtain airbags
D o n o t fi x o r a t t a c h a n y t h i n g t o t h e r o o f . T h i s c o u l d c a u s e i n j u r y t o t h e h e a d i f
the curtain airbag is triggered.
Do not remove the grab handles installed on the ro of, they play a part in securing
the curtain airbags.
After an accident or if the vehicle has
been stolen or broken into, have the
airbag systems checked.
All work on the airbag system is strictly
forbidden unless it is carried out by
q u a l i fi e d p e r s o n n e l o f t h e C I T R O Ë N
dealer network.
Even if all of the precautions men-
tioned are observed, a risk of injury
or of minor burns to the head, chest
or arms when an airbag is triggered
c a n n o t b e r u l e d o u t . T h e b a g i n fl a t e s
almost instantly (within a few milli-
s e c o n d s ) t h e n d e fl a t e s w i t h i n t h e
same time discharging the hot gas via
openings provided for this purpose.
