LOCKING AND UNLOCKING WITH
POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCH
Push the switch.
To lock: Push the switch down on the
front side.
To unlock: Push the switch down on the
rear side.
Operating the switch locks or unlocks the
side doors and back door simultaneously.
If you do any of the following, no door
can be unlocked with the power door lock
switch.
Lock the side doors and back door
with the key or wireless remote control
function when the side doors and back
door are closed.
Open the driver’s door and move the
inside lock knob of the side to the lock
position, then close the door.
The power door lock switch can be reset
in the following ways.
Turn the ignition key to “ON” position.
Unlock the side doors and back door
with the key or wireless remote control
function.
Unlock the driver’s door with the inside
lock knob, and then unlock the side
doors and back door with the power
door lock switch.
Power windows (Type A)

The windows can be operated with the
switch on each door. The passenger ’s
window can also be controlled by the
switch on the driver ’s door.
The power windows work when the ignition
switch is in the “ON” position.
OPERATING THE SWITCHES
To lower the window, push the switch
halfway down. Pull it up to raise the
window. The window glass moves as
long as the switch is operated.

Automatic operation: Push the switch
completely down or pull it completely up,
and then release it. The window will fully
open or close. To stop the window part-
way, lightly move the switch in the oppo-
site direction and then release it.
Window lock switch: If you push in the
window lock switch on the driver ’s door,
the passenger ’s window cannot be oper-
ated.
The indicator lights on the switch tell you
which of the switches can be operated.
Jam protection function: During automat-
ic closing operation, the window stops and
opens halfway if something gets caught
between the window and body. If the window receives a strong impact,
this function may work even if nothing is
caught.
CAUTION
To avoid death or serious personal
injury, you must do the following.
Before you close the power win-
dows, always make sure there is
nobody around the power windows.
You must also make sure the
heads, hands and other parts of the
bodies of all occupants are kept
completely inside the vehicle. If
someone’s neck, head or hands get
caught in a closing window, it
could result in death or serious in-
jury. When anyone closes the power
windows, make sure he or she op-
erates the windows safely.
When small children are in the ve-
hicle, never let them use the power
window switches without supervi-
sion. Use the window lock switch to
prevent them from making unex-
pected use of the switches.
Be sure to remove the ignition key
when you leave your vehicle.
Never leave anyone (particularly a
small child) alone in your vehicle,
especially with the ignition key still
inserted. Otherwise, he/she could
use the power window switches and
get trapped in a window. Unat-
tended person (particularly a small
child) can be involved in a serious
accident.
Never try jamming any part of your
body to activate the jam protection
function intentionally, as it could re-
sult in a death or serious injury.
The jam protection function may
not work if something gets caught
just before the window is fully
closed.
If the battery is disconnected or run
down
The power window may not operate auto-
matically and the jam protection function
will not function correctly after you recon-
nect, replace or recharge the battery. At
this time, the indicator lights of the
switches will flash. In any of these cases,
you should normalize the power window
on each door.

To normalize the power windows:1. Push down the power window switch of each door and lower the windows half-
way.
2. Pull up the switch until the windows close and hold the switch for at least
one second.
Make sure that the windows open and
close automatically. If the power windows
cannot be operated properly, have them
checked by your Scion dealer.
Power windows (Type B)

switch on each door.
The power windows work when the ignition

OPERATING THE DRIVER’S WINDOW
Use the switch on the driver’s side.
Normal operation: The window moves as
long as you hold the switch.
To open: Lightly push down the switch.
To close: Pull up the switch.

Push the switch completely down and then

stop the window partway, lightly pull the
switch up and then release it.

bag inflate, since these airbags
could inflate with considerable
speed and force. Otherwise, he/she
may be killed or seriously injured.

the passenger seat, facing the pas-
senger ’s side door, since the side
airbag and curtain shield airbag
could inflate with considerable
