TOWING A TRAILER, CARAVAN, BOAT, ETC...
Refer to the administrative
documents (V5, ...) or to the Petrol
or Diesel "Dimensions, weights
and towed loads" section of chapter 9. Distribution of loads:
distribute the
load in the trailer so that the heaviest
loads are as close as possible to the
axle and the nose weight is close
to the maximum authorised without,
however, exceeding it. Cooling:
towing a trailer on a slope
increases the coolant temperature.
As the fan is electrically controlled, its
cooling capacity is not dependent on
the engine speed.

A towed vehicle must free wheel:
gearbox in neutral.

On the contrary, use a high gear to
lower the engine speed and reduce
your speed.
In all cases, pay attention to the
coolant temperature. Brakes:
towing increases the braking
distance. Drive at a moderate speed,
change down early and brake
gradually. Please contact a PEUGEOT dealer
i r s t f o r f u r t h e r i n f o r m a t i o n .
Automatic adjustment
For vehicles with Xenon bulbs, this
system automatically corrects the
height of the beam, whatever the
load of the vehicle. The driver is then
assured of having optimum lighting and
not causing a nuisance to other road
users.
In certain cases of particularly
arduous use (towing the
maximum load up a steep slope
in high temperatures), the engine
automatically limits its power.
In this case, cutting off the air
conditioning allows the engine power
to be recovered, and therefore the
t o w i n g s p e e d t o b e s i g n i i c a n t l y
increased (approximately 12 mph
[20 km/h] more). Sequential control
of the gearbox may also become
unavailable. Lighting

When using a trailer connection,
you must add a fuse. Refer to
the "Changing a fuse" section of
chapter 8.
If the coolant temperature warning light
comes on, stop the vehicle and switch
off the engine as soon as possible.
Tyres: check the tyre pressures of
the towing vehicle and of the trailer,
observing the recommended pressure. Side wind:
sensitivity to side wind is
increased. Drive smoothly and at a
moderate speed.
Towbar
We recommend the use of original
PEUGEOT towbars, which have been
tested for endurance from the design
stage of your vehicle.
T o w i n g e q u i p m e n t m u s t b e i t t e d i n
accordance with the manufacturer’s
instructions, with particular attention to
the towing capacities of your vehicle,
the load towed, the nose weight and
t h e e l e c t r i c a l c o n n e c t i o n . A s t h i s i t t i n g
should be carried out by a professional,
we recommend that you entrust the
i t t i n g o f t h i s e q u i p m e n t t o a P E U G E O T
dealer.
In accordance with the general
instructions referred to above, we draw
your attention to the risk connected
w i t h i t t i n g a t o w b a r o r o t h e r e l e c t r i c a l
accessory which is not recommended
by the PEUGEOT network. Fitting such
equipment could result in a failure of
your vehicle’s electronic system. Manual adjustment

dazzle other road users. Check the
electrical signalling of the trailer.

Cooling system
O n l y u s e t h e l u i d r e c o m m e n d e d b y t h e
manufacturer.
Otherwise, you risk seriously damaging
your engine.
When the engine is warm, the
temperature of the coolant is controlled
by the engine fan. As this fan can
operate with the ignition key removed
and because the cooling system is
pressurised, wait for at least one hour
after the engine has stopped before
carrying out any work.
Slacken the cap by 1/4 of a turn to
release the pressure to prevent any
risk of scalding. When the pressure
has dropped, remove the cap and top
up the level with coolant.
I f l u i d h a s t o b e a d d e d f r e q u e n t l y ,
this indicates a failure which must be
checked by a PEUGEOT dealer as
soon as possible.Power steering fluid level
The vehicle must be parked on level
ground with the engine cold. Unscrew
the cap integrated with the gauge and
check the level which must be between
the MIN and MAX marks.
During regeneration of the particle
e m i s s i o n i l t e r , r e l a y n o i s e m a y b e
heard under the fascia.
If the message is still displayed and
the service warning light remains on,
contact a PEUGEOT dealer.
Diesel additive level (Diesel with
particle emission filter) The minimum level of this
additive is indicated by
lighting of the service warning
light, accompanied by an
audible signal and a message
on the display.
When this occurs with the engine running,
this is due to the start of saturation of
t h e p a r t i c l e e m i s s i o n i l t e r ( e x c e p t i o n a l l y
prolonged urban driving conditions: low
s p e e d , l o n g t r a f i c j a m s , . . . ) .
I n o r d e r t o r e g e n e r a t e t h e i l t e r , y o u
are advised to drive at a speed of
more than 40 mph (60 km/h) as soon
a s p o s s i b l e , w h e n t r a f i c c o n d i t i o n s
p e r m i t , f o r a t l e a s t i v e m i n u t e s ( u n t i l
the message disappears and the
service warning light is switched off).
Topping up
The level must be between the MIN
and MAX marks on the expansion
b o t t l e . I f m o r e t h a n 1 l i t r e o f l u i d i s
required to top up the level, have
the system checked by a PEUGEOT
dealer. Windscreen wash and headlamp
wash level
For best quality cleaning and for your
safety, we would advise that you use
products of the PEUGEOT Universal
range.
To avoid ice forming, do not use water.
Topping up
It is imperative that this additive is
topped up by a PEUGEOT dealer
without delay.
Used oil
Avoid prolonged contact of used oil
with the skin.

Do not dispose of used oil, brake
l u i d o r c o o l a n t i n t o d r a i n s o r o n t o
the ground but into the containers
dedicated to this use at PEUGEOT
dealerships.
