Cigarette lighter
*
E00711500713
The cigarette lighter can be used
while the ignition switch is in
the “ON” or “ACC” position. The cigarette lighter will automatically return to its original position with a “click” when ready. Pull it out for use. After use, insert the cigarette lighter to its original position inthe socket.NOTE●
Do not leave the cigarette light
er removed from its socket,
because the socket might
become clogged by foreign
material and be short-circuited.
1- Open the lid 2- Push all the way in.
CAUTION
!●
Do not touch the heating
element or the cigarette
lighter housing, hold the kn
ob only to prevent burns.
●
Do not allow children to op
erate or play with the cig-
arette lighter as burns may occur.
●
Something is wrong with th
e cigarette lighter if it
does not pop back out wi
thin approximately 30 sec-
onds of being pushed in.
We recommend you to have
it checked.
●
Do not use any electric
appliance that is not
approved by MITSUBISHI MOTORS. Doing so could damage the socket. If
you used the cigarette
lighter after damaging th
e socket, the cigarette
lighter might pop out or fail to come out after beingpushed in.
●
When the cigarette lighter so
cket is used as a power
source for an electric app
liance, be sure that the
electric appliance operates
at 12 V and has an elec-
tric capacity of 120 W or less. In addition, long use of the electric appliance
without running the engine
may run down the battery.

Accessory socket

The accessory socket can be us
ed while the ignition switch is
in the “ON” or “ACC” position.NOTE●
The two or more accessory sock
ets can be used simultane-
ously.
Ty p e 1Pull out the plug (A) in the instrument panel to uncover thesocket. Use it to plug in
an electrical device.
CAUTION
!●
Be aware that using electronic equipment with the engine off may run the battery down.
●
When you connect an electri
cal device, make sure it
is rated at 12 V and its el
ectrical capacity does not
exceed 120 W. When using some sockets at the same time, make sure the total power consumption of theelectrical accessories does
not exceed 120 W at 12 V.
●
When the accessory socket is not in use, be sure to close the cap or plug, because the socket mightbecome clogged by foreig
n material and be short-
circuited.

Maintenance

Checking battery electrolyte levelThe electrolyte level must be be
tween the specified limit on the
outside of the battery. Replenish with distilled water as neces- sary. The inside of the battery is divided into several compartments; remove the cap from each comp
artment and fill
to the upper
mark. Do not top up beyond the upper mark because spillageduring driving could cause damage. Check the electrolyte level
at least once every 4 weeks,
depending on the operating conditions. If the battery is not used, it will discharge by itself with time. Check it once every 4 weeks and charge with low current as necessary.
During cold weatherThe capacity of the battery is re
duced at low temperatures. This
is an inevitable result of its
chemical and physical properties.
This is why a very cold battery, particularly one that is not fully charged, will only deliver a fracti
on of the starter current which
is normally available. We recommend you to have the battery checked before the start of cold weather and, if necessa
ry, have it charged or replaced.
This does not only ensure reliable starting, but a battery whichis kept fully charged also has a longer life.Disconnection and connectionTo disconnect the battery cable, stop the engine, first discon- nect the negative (-) terminal a
nd then the positive (+) terminal.
When connecting the battery, fi
rst connect the positive (+) ter-
minal and then the ne
gative (-) terminal.
WARNING
!●
Keep sparks, cigarettes, and flames away from the battery because the battery could explode.
●
The battery electrolyte is
extremely caustic. Do not
allow it to come in contact with your eyes, skin, clothing, or the painted surf
aces of the vehicle. Spilt
electrolyte should be
flushed immediately with
ample amounts of water.Irritation to eyes or skin
from contact with electro-
lyte requires immediate medical attention.
●
Ventilate when charging or
using the battery in an
enclosed space.
