Tele Aid
If the Tele Aid system could not establish a
voice connection to the Mercedes-Benz
Customer Assistance Center (e.g. the
relevant cellular phone network is not
available). The message
Call failed
appears . Terminating the connection
Information calls can
be terminated using
the ì button on the multifunctional
steering wheel or the K key on
COMAND. The call can also be terminated
by the Customer Assistance Center.
The COMAND reverts to the system last
active before a Tele Aid call was initiated. For the Tele Aid services Remote Door
Unlock and Stolen Vehicle Recovery
please refer to your vehicle Operator’s
Manual for information.

Exact settings of date, time and current
time zone allow you:
correct navigation for
routes with time
-dependent traffic
guidance
correct calculation of the expected
time of arrival

If time/date information is transmitted
by the GPS, you cannot set the date.
A satellite symbol is displayed on the
status bar if the system uses GPS data.

Emergency callThis function places a call to a local
911 provider. It does not initiate a
->Tele Aid call. Please note that the
911 emergency call system is a public
service. Using it without due cause is a
criminal offense.
GPS (G
lobal Positioning System)
Satellite-based system for relaying
geographic location information to and
from vehicles equipped with special re-
ceivers. Employs DVD digital maps for
navigation. Heading Up
Dynamic map alignment, map is dis-
played facing driving direction pointing
up.
ID3 tag Additional information which may be
included in MP3 files (e.g. title, artist,
album).
ISO9660 A standard file system for recording
data on CDs.
Joliet Standard for recording data on CDs; an
extension of ISO 9660.
MP3 The term used in everyday speech for
->MPEG1 Audio Layer 3.
MPEG1 Audio Layer 3 A means of compressing digital audio
data. Multi session
A method for recording data, e.g. for
CDs. Data is written to the CD in a num-
ber of sessions.
Navigation DVD Contains all the destination addresses
(town, road, intersection, house num-
ber, special destinations) and the digi-
tal map material for a country or a
region for destination entry, route cal-
culation and destination guidance.
North Up The map is displayed facing north du-
ring route guidance.
POI (Point of Interest) Points of Interest include service stati-
ons, rest areas, parking lots, hospitals,
sight-seeing points, etc.
Provider is the network operator who makes
available (provides) telephone services

PUK (Personal Unblocking Key)
must be entered if the wrong PIN was
entered three consecutive times.
Roaming For this function, the mobile phone
uses the network of a contract partner.
There are home type and non-home
type systems. The Roaming indicator in
the COMAND display indicates that a
call is being made using a non-home
type system.
Root directory The uppermost directory on a storage
medium.
Scan rate (MP3) Indicates the frequency at which volt-
age samples are taken during the con-
version of an analog signal into a digital
signal. The analog-to-digital converter
converts the samples into digital sig-

SIM (Subscriber Identity Module)
Card provided by the GSM telephone

service is provided by your carrier)

Function of key depends on the selec-
ted operating mode.
Surround Playback method resulting in an impro-
ved spatial listening experience com-
pared to conventional stereo playback. Tele Aid
(Tele
matic Alarm Identification on De-
mand)
The Tele Aid system consists of three
types of response: automatic and ma-
nual emergency, roadside assistance,
and information. Tele Aid is initially ac-
tivated by completing a subscriber
agreement and placing an acquain-
tance call. Refer also to the vehicle op-
erating instructions.
The Tele Aid system is operational pro-
vided that the vehicle’s battery is char-
ged, properly connected, not damaged,
and cellular and GPS coverage is avai-
lable.
