“Next CD/DVD/Medium”
Use the command “Next CD/DVD/Medi-
um” to select the next available medium in
the DVD changer.
“Track 1” to “Track 39”
Use the commands “Track 1” to
“Track 39” to select one of up to 39 title
numbers of a loaded medium.
“Next track”
Use the command “Next track” to select
the next track.“Previous track” or “Repeat track”
Use the command “Previous track” or “Re-
peat track” to play again the track you are
listening to.
“Group 1” to “Group 9”
T h e “ G r o u p 1 ” t o “ G r o u p 9 ” c o m m a n d s a r e
used to select a group on the inserted au-
dio-DVD.
“Next group”/“Previous group”
The “Next group”/“Previous group” com-
mands are used to select a group on the in-
serted audio-DVD.“Memory card”
The “Memory card” command is used to
switch from the DVD drive to the PCMCIA
card.
“Drive”
The “Drive” command is used to switch
from the PCMCIA card to the DVD drive.

Steering wheel
Adjusting steering wheel up or
down: Move stalk up or down in the di-
rection of arrow2.
Heated steering wheel*
The steering wheel heating warms up the
leather area of the steering wheel.

Switch on the ignition (page 344).
Switching on: Turn switch at the tip of
stalk in the direction of arrow1.
The steering wheel is heated. Indicator
lamp3 comes on.
Switching off: T u r n s w i t c h a t t h e t i p o f
stalk in the direction of arrow2.
The steering wheel heating is turned
off. Indicator lamp3 goes out.
iThe steering wheel heating will not switch
on, when the temperature of the vehicle interior
is above 86°F (30°C).
iIndicator lamp3 flashes or goes out
in case of power surge or undervoltage
in case of a steering wheel heating malfunc-
tion
iThe steering wheel heating switches off au-
tomatically:
when you remove the SmartKey from the
starter switch
on vehicles with KEYLESS-GO*, when you
switch off the ignition (
page 344) and
open the driver’s door
when the temperature of the vehicle interior
is above 86°F (30°C)
after approximately 24 minutes

Lighting
The interior lighting switches off auto-
matically following an adjustable time
delay (
page 248).
Manual control
Switching on/off front interior light-
ing: Press button 3.
Switching on/off rear interior light-
ing: Press button 2.
The front reading lamps reading lamps are
located in the lower edge of the interior
rear view mirror.
Switching on/off front reading
lamps: Press button 1 or 5.
Ambient lighting: The brightness of
the ambient lighting is adjusted via
COMAND (

You can switch the lamps on/off in

Door entry lamps
For better orientation in the dark, the cor-
responding door entry lamps will switch on
in darkness when you open a door and the
automatic control is activated.
The door entry lamps switch off when the
corresponding door is closed.
iIf the door remains open, the interior lighting
switches off automatically after approximately
5minutes.
iIf you turn the SmartKey in the starter
switch to position0 and switch off the exterior
headlamps, the door entry lamps will remain lit
for approximately 5 minutes.

Document holder
You can use the plastic tab of document
holder4 to hold admission tickets, park-
ing passes, or similar items in place.
Vanity mirror in rear
Opening: Press mark1.
The vanity mirror swings down in the di-
rection of the arrow.
Closing: Swing vanity mirror up until it
engages.
Warning!G
Do not use the vanity mirror while driving.
Keep the vanity mirrors in the sun visors
closed while vehicle is in motion. Reflected
glare can endanger you and others.!Close vanity mirror cover2 (if open) before
you disengage sun visor1 from the mounting
and pivot it to the side.
iIf you disengage sun visor1 from the
mounting, vanity mirror lamp2 will switch off.
