Scrolls back and forth within a menu
Several functions are combined thematically
in the menus.
The Audio menu, for example, contains func-
tions to operate the radio or CD player*. The
functions can be used either to call up infor-
mation or to change settings for your vehicle.
You can think of the configuration of the
menus and the functions within a menu as a
circle: X
Press the èorÿ button repeatedly
to call up individual menus in sequence.
X Press the korj button to call up
the functions within a menu.
Unlike other menus, the Settingsmenu con-
tains a number of submenus (Y page 104).
The number of menus depends on the equip-
ment in your vehicle. Multi-function display
The multi-function display shows you values
and settings as well as any display messages
that may have been generated. 1

The generic terms in the table overview are
intended to help you navigate through the
menus. The terms themselves are not always
displayed in the multi-function display.
For the Audio 20 CD, the on-board computer
displays the
AudioandTelephone* menus
in English. The language for these menus is
not dependent on the language selected for
the multi-function display.
The display messages in the AudioandTele-
phone* menus are slightly different in vehi- cles with Audio 20 CD and COMAND APS*.
The examples given in this Owner's Manual
apply to vehicles equipped with COMAND
APS*. Operation menu

If you have activated variable Speedtronic
(Y page 115), time 2is displayed in the
upper multi-function display. The set speed is
then displayed instead of the time in the lower
multi-function display ( Ypage 98). Audio/DVD* menu
Use the functions in the Audio/DVDmenu to
operate the audio equipment or COMAND
APS*. If the audio system or COMAND APS*
is switched off, the multi-function display
shows the message AUDIO OFF(COMAND
APS*: Audio off).

Selecting a radio station You can only store new stations using the
audio system or COMAND APS* (see sepa-

The indicator lamps in the button may light up
in red or yellow.
R Red: auxiliary heating/ventilation is acti-
vated
R Yellow: departure time of the auxiliary
heating/ventilation is preselected

Activating the auxiliary heating/ventila-
tion
If the key is in position 1or 2in the ignition
lock:
X Press and hold button 1for more than two
seconds.
Red indicator lamp 2lights up.
If the key is removed from the ignition lock or
in position 0:
X Briefly press button 1.
Red indicator lamp 2lights up.
Deactivating the auxiliary heating/venti-
lation
X Press and hold button 1for more than two
seconds.
The red or yellow indicator lamp in the 1
button goes out. Remote control
Your vehicle comes with one remote control.
You may use one additional remote control
for your vehicle. For further information, con-
sult a qualified specialist workshop, e.g. a
Mercedes-Benz Service Centre.
The remote control has a maximum range of
approximately 300 metres. This range may be
reduced by:
R sources of radio interference
R solid objects between the remote control
and the vehicle
R the remote control being in an unfavoura-
ble position in relation to the vehicle
R transmitting from an enclosed space
i The optimum range can be achieved if you
hold the remote control vertically, pointing
upwards when you press one of the but-
tons.
