AUTO (Auto-light control)
When the headlight switch is in the
AUTO position and the ignition switch is
in the ON position, the light sensor senses
the surrounding lightness or darkness and
automatically turns on or off the
headlights, other exterior lights and
dashboard illumination (see chart above).

lAn 8 cm (3 in) CD can be played in the
CD player.
The In-dash CD changer is specially
made for 12 cm (5 in) CDs.
An 8 cm (3 in) CD can be played in the
In-dash CD changer (MP3 compatible
type only) if an 8 cm (3 in) CD adapter
is used.
If an 8 cm (3 in) CD adapter is not
used, the In-dash CD changer (MP3
compatible type only) may be
damaged. Always use a CD adapter.
An 8 cm (3 in) CD cannot be played in
the In-dash CD changer (MP3 non-
compatible type only) even if an 8 cm
(3 in) CD adapter is used.
lDo not insert cleaning discs in the CD
player/In-dash CD changer.
lDo not insert any disc with a peel-off
seal affixed to it.
Handling the CD player (MP3 support
type)/In-dash CD changer
lThis unit may not be able to play
certain CD-R/CD-RWs made using a
computer or music CD recorder due to
disc characteristics, scratches,
smudges, dirt, etc., or due to dust or
condensation on the lens inside the
unit.
lStoring CDs in the vehicle exposed to
direct sunlight or high temperature may
damage the CD-R/CD-RWs, and make
them unplayable.
lCD-R/CD-RW exceeding 700 MB
cannot be played.
lThis unit may not be able to play
certain discs made using a computer
due to the application (writing
software) setting used. (For details,
consult the store where the application
was purchased.)
lIt is possible that certain text data, such
as titles, recorded on a CD-R/CD-RW
may not be displayed when musical
data (CD-DA) is playing.
lThe period from when a CD-RW is
inserted to when it begins playing is
longer than a normal CD or CD-R.
lCompletely read the instruction manual
and cautions for CD-R/CD-RWs.
lDo not use discs with cellophane tape
adhering, partially peeled off labels, or
adhesive material exuding from the
edges of the CD label. Also, do not use
discs with a commercially-available
CD-R label affixed. The disc may not
eject resulting in a malfunction.

5. Input the registered ID code usingchannel preset buttons 1-4. Example:
When the registered ID code is “2323 ”,
input “2323 ”. At this time “SR1 2323 ”
is displayed. Press the scan button after
the code is input.
NOTE
If “Err ”is displayed, go to the
“ INITIALIZATION OF ID CODE” section to
reset the ID code to [0000].

6. Determine the input code by pressing the scan button briefly.
7. If it does not match the registered code, “SR1 Err ”is displayed and then it
returns to “SR1 - - - - ”.
8. If it matches the registered code, “SR1 UNLOCK ”appears for 3
seconds which indicates that the code
input has been completed.
9. “SR1 100 ”appears which indicates that
the parental lock is activated. At this
time, mute is on and no sound is heard.
(How to clear the message)
lPress any of the following FM/AM,
SAT, CD, MEDIA, CAT, ESN/DISP,
Instant replay, POWER buttons.
lTurn the ACC off or insert a CD.lChange a channel.lIf an ID code is not input for 10
seconds, “Err ”is displayed and it
returns to the former display.
lChannel preset buttons 1, 2, 3, 4 and
the scan button are used for input of the
ID code. Buttons 5 and 6 cannot be
used.
Error signs
(1) Depending on the surrounding
conditions (such as large trees,
buildings, or tunnels) and special
weather conditions, the reception of
SIRIUS radio waves may be
decreased or temporarily interrupted.
“ACQUIRING SIGNAL ”may
appear.
(2) In case of an antenna malfunction, “ANTENNA FAIL ”is displayed.
Check the antenna (type B), antenna
cable and DLP antenna connector.
NOTE
If a broken DLP* unit is replaced with a new
unit, cancel the license for the broken unit and
make sure to carry out new registration for the
replaced unit. If the license for the broken unit
is not canceled, you will be charged a
reception fee for both units.

4. Disconnect the bulb from the socket.
5. Install the new bulb in the reverse order of removal.
NOTE
To replace the bulb, contact an Authorized
Mazda Dealer.

With LED bulb
Due to the complexity and difficulty of
the procedure, the LED bulbs should be
replaced by an Authorized Mazda Dealer.
With Non-LED bulb
1. Remove the liftgate upper trim.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the socket.
3. Turn the socket and bulb assembly counterclockwise and remove it.
4. Disconnect the bulb from the socket.
5. Install the new bulb in the reverse order of removal.
NOTE
To replace the bulb, contact an Authorized
Mazda Dealer.
License plate lights
1. Wrap a flathead screwdriver with a soft cloth to prevent damage to the lens,
and then remove the lens by carefully
prying on the edge of the lens with a
flathead screwdriver.
