To deactivate the immobilizer sys- tem:
Insert the ignition key into the key
cylinder and turn it to the ON posi-tion.
To activate the immobilizer sys- tem:
Turn the ignition key to the OFF posi-
tion. The immobilizer system acti-
vates automatically. Without a valid
ignition key for your vehicle, the
engine will not start.✽✽
NOTICE
When starting the engine, do not use
the key with other immobilizer keys
around.Otherwise the engine may not start
or may stop soon after it starts. Keepeach key separately not to have any
malfunction after you receive yournew vehicle.CAUTION
The transponder in your ignition key is an important part of theimmobilizer system. It isdesigned to give years of trou- blefree service, however youshould avoid exposure to mois-ture, static electricity and roughhandling. Immobilizer system

Do not change, alter or adjust the immobilizer system becauseit could cause the immobilizersystem to malfunction and should only be serviced by anauthorized Kia dealer.Malfunctions caused by improp-er alterations, adjustments or modifications to the immobilizersystem are not covered by yourvehicle manufacturer warranty.

Do not put metal accessories near the key or ignition key.

anywhere in your vehicle. Your
Immobilizer password is a cus-
tomer unique password and
should be kept confidential. Do
not leave this number anywhere
in your vehicle.

Driving your vehicle
If the driver's lap/shoulder belt is not
fastened when the key is turned ON
or if it is disconnected after the key is
turn ON, the safety belt warning light
will blink or illuminate until the belt is
fastened.
If the driver's lap/shoulder belt is not
fastened when the key is turned ON
and you drive over 9km/h, the safety
belt warning chime will sound for
approximately 100 seconds after the
warning light blinks for approximately
one minute.
If the driver's lap/shoulder belt is dis-
connected after the key is turn ON
and you drive over 9km/h, the safety
belt warning chime will sound for
approximately 100 seconds.
But, if the driver's lap/shoulder belt is connected and disconnected twice
within 9 seconds after the belt is fas-
tened, the safety belt warning light
and chime will not operate.
If the system does not operate as
described, see an Authorized Kia
Dealer for assistance.Shift pattern indicators (if equipped) The individual indicators illuminate to
show the automatic transaxle shift
lever selection.
Immobilizer indicator (if equipped) This light illuminates when the immo-
bilizer key is inserted and turned to
the ON position to start the engine.
If this light turns off or blinks when
the ignition switch is in the ON posi-
tion before starting the engine, have
the system checked by an authorized
Kia Dealer.
