G030D02TB-EAT ENGINE OIL REPLENISHMENT
If the indicated oil level is at or below the lower mark of the dipstick, oil should be added until the level is at or below the upper mark.To add oil to the engine, remove the filler cap by rotating in an counterclock- wise direction and pour engine oil intothe engine. Before checking the level again, allow several minutes for the oil to drain into the sump. Replace the oilfiller cap rotating it in a clockwise direc- tion until tight. The quantity of oil required to raise thelevel from the minimum to maximum level is approximately 1.2 litre.

CAUTION:
The oil being drained from the en- gine will be hot. Care should beexercised to prevent scalding. WARNING:
Prolonged and repeated contact withused engine oils may result in seri- ous skin disorders including derma- titis and cancer. Avoid contact withskin as far as possible and always wash thoroughly after any contact. Keep used oils out of reach of chil-dren. It is illegal to pollute drains, water courses and soil. Use only authorised waste collection facili-ties including civic amenity sites and garages for the disposal of used oil and oil filters. If in doubt, contact the local authority for disposal in- structions.

o The engine oil consumption is strongly
effected by the viscosity and quality of oil, engine rpm and driving condi-tion etc. More engine oil may be consumed under severe driving conditions suchas high speeds, frequent accelera- tion and deceleration, compared to normal driving.
ZG030E1-E ENGINE OIL CONSUMPTION Function of engine oil Engine oil has the primary function of lubricating and cooling the inside of the engine. Engine oil consumption It is normal that an engine should con- sume some engine oil while normal driving. The cause of oil consumption in a normal engine are as follows;
o Engine oil is used to lubricate pis-
tons, piston rings and cylinders. A thin film of oil is left on the cylinder wall when a piston moves down- wards in the cylinder. High negativepressure generated during engine operation sucks some of the oil into the combustion chamber.This oil with some oil of the cylinder wall is burned by the high tempera- ture combustion gases during thecombustion process.

WARNING:
Do not remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot, since the system is pressurized and coolant may beejected from the radiator resulting in scalding. NOTE: It is recommended that the engine coolant should be changed by an authorised Hyundai dealer.

Diesel engine Only ethylene glycol based coolant with a corrosion inhibitor suited to aluminium alloy engine components should beused in the cooling system. No further additives or inhibitors should be used. The coolant specific gravity should bechecked as prescribed in the mainte- nance schedule to ensure adequate frost and corrosion protection. In addi-tion, the engine coolant must be re- placed at the specified interval since the corrosion inhibitor properties dete-riorate with time. It is important to note that whilst an increase in the concentration of antifreeze gives an increase in the level of frost protection, a solution which is in excess of 65% anti freeze will result inreduced frost protection and engine overheating. Therefore the recom- mended concentration of 50% shouldnot be exceeded for general use. The use of methanol based anti freeze compounds may result in engine over-heating and will invalidate the vehicle warranty.

HTB170A NOTE: It is imperative that vehicles fitted with an air conditioning system have a coolant concentration of the rec-ommended strength at all times. The use of the air conditioning system when the cooling system is filledwith water only will result in the heater matrix freezing and subse- quently bursting.

SG050C2-E Engine Coolant Level The engine coolant level may be ob- served through the side of the plasticcoolant reservoir (expansion tank) when the engine is cold. If the level is below the "LOW" mark, add coolant of thecorrect concentration until the level is between the "LOW" and "Full" marks. If the level falls below the "LOW" mark ona regular basis despite being topped up, consult a Hyundai authorised repairer.
!WARNING:
The cooling fan is controlled by en- gine coolant temperature and may sometimes operate even when theengine is not running. Use extreme caution when working near the blades of the cooling fan so that youare not injured by a rotating fan blade. As the engine coolant tem- perature decreases, the fan will auto-matically shut off. This is a normal condition.

1. Remove the engine cover (Not all
models).
2. Unsnap the clips around the cover.
3. Lift the cover off.
4. Remove the old filter and replace to the new one. Genuine Hyundai Re- placement Parts are recommended.
CAUTION:
Operating your vehicle without aproper air filter in place can result in excessive engine wear.

The wiper blades should be carefully inspected from time to time and cleaned to remove accumulations of road film or other debris. To clean the wiper bladesand arms, use a clean sponge or cloth with a mild soap or detergent and water. If the wipers continue to streak or smearthe glass, replace them with genuine Hyundai replacement. HEF119CAUTION:
o Do not operate the wipers on dry glass since rapid wear and dam- age to the windscreen glass mayresult.
o Keep the blade rubber out of con-
tact with petroleum products suchas engine oil, gasoline, etc.

CAUTION:
Engine coolant anti freeze must not be used in the windscreen washersystem since damage to the paintwork may result. Undiluted windscreen washer addi-tive must not be allowed to come into contact with the paintwork. If spillage occurs, flush the affectedarea immediately with water. Do not operate the windscreen washer for more than 15 seconds continuouslyor when the reservoir is empty since damage to the washer pump will result.

The manual transaxle lubricant must be checked and or changed at the inter- vals specified in the maintenance sched- ule. Only those lubricants specifiedshould be used in order to prevent gear shifting difficulties or transaxle dam- age. WARNING:
The transaxle lubricant level should only be checked when the engine is cold to preclude the possibility ofpersonal injury by contact with hot components. NOTE: It is recommended that the manual transaxle lubricant should be checked by Hyundai authorised re- pairer. Recommended Oil Use only the approved transaxle lubri- cant. The recommended lubricants arecomplete in themselves and the use of additives is neither required nor recom- mended. The use of additives mayinvalidate the vehicle warranty.
The level of windscreen washer fluid available should be checked on a daily basis. The level of fluid will be visiblethrough the side of the reservoir. When the fluid is to be replenished, only a proprietary screen wash additive shouldbe used and in the concentration rec- ommended by the manufacturer. The windscreen washer reservoir has a totalcapacity of 3 litres.

G100B03A-GAT Checking the automatic transaxle fluid level
SG110A1-E AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID The automatic transaxle fluid level should be checked and changed at those intervals prescribed in the main-tenance schedule. It is of paramount importance that only the specified fluid is used when replenishing or changingthe fluid. The use of other fluids may irreparably damage the transaxle and invalidate the manufacturers warranty.In addition the ingress of dirt or lint may prevent correct functioning of the transaxle and care must be exercisedto prevent the ingress of such matter.
CAUTION:
The transaxle fluid level must bechecked with the engine running and at normal operating temperature and therefore care must be exercised toprevent injury occurring through contact with rotating or hot parts of the engine.

The automatic transaxle fluid level should be checked regularly. Keep the vehicle on the level groundwith the parking brake applied and check the fluid level according to the following procedure.
1. Place the selector lever in N (Neu-tral) position and confirm the engine is running at normal idle speed.
2. After the transaxle is warmed up
sufficiently (fluid temperature70~80°C (158~176°F)), for example by 10 minutes usual driving, shift the selector lever through all positionsthen place the selector lever in N (Neutral) or P (Park) position.
