The screw-in towing eye is locatedeither in the left-hand side trim in theluggage compartment or in theunderfloor storage compartmentunder the spare wheel.
The towing eye must always becarried in the vehicle.
CAUTION
The screw-in towing eye has aleft-hand thread. Turn itanti-clockwise to install it. Use thewheelbrace to make sure that thetowing eye is fully tightened.

Note:On vehicles with a tow bar,the towing eye cannot be installed atthe rear of the vehicle. Use the towbar to tow a vehicle.

WARNINGS
Switch the ignition on when yourvehicle is being towed. Thesteering lock will engage and thedirection indicators and brake lampswill not work if you do not.
The brake servo and the powersteering pump do not operateunless the engine is running. Pressthe brake pedal harder and allow forincreased stopping distances andheavier steering.
CAUTIONS
Too much tension in the towrope could cause damage toyour vehicle or the vehicle that istowing.
Do not use a rigid tow bar on thefront towing eye.
Drive off slowly and smoothly withoutjerking the vehicle that is towing.

CAUTIONS
Do not tow your vehicle fasterthan 50 km/h (30 mph) or furtherthan 50 kilometres (30 miles). Onvehicles with a 6DCT450transmission, do not tow your vehiclefaster than 30 km/h (18 mph).
If the stated speed or distance isto be exceeded the drive wheelsmust be lifted clear of the ground.
In the event of a mechanicalfailure of the transmission thedrive wheels must be lifted clear ofthe ground.
Do not tow your vehiclebackwards.
Select neutral when your vehicleis being towed.

WARNINGS
Switch the ignition off beforetouching or attemptingadjustment of any kind.
Do not touch the electronicignition system parts after youhave switched the ignition on orwhen the engine is running. Thesystem operates at high voltage.
Keep your hands and clothingclear of the engine cooling fan.Under certain conditions, the fan maycontinue to run for several minutesafter you have switched the engineoff.

THE BONNET
Opening the bonnet
WARNING
To prevent damage to, or lossof the key, remove the keyimmediately after opening and swivelthe Ford badge back.
Note:On vehicles with the key freesystem, use the spare key to openthe bonnet.
Closing the bonnet
Note:Make sure that the bonnet isclosed properly.
Lower the bonnet and allow it to dropfrom under its own weight for the last20 – 30 centimetres (8 - 12 inches).
