A i r c o n d i t i o n i n g
At any time of year, the air condition-
ing is useful for removing air humidity
and misting.
To keep the air conditioning com-
pressor well sealed, it is essential to
operate the air conditioning at least
once in every month.
To be effective, the air conditioning
should only be used with the win-
dows closed.
If you are towing a heavy trailer or if
outside temperatures are very high,
the air conditioning may be tempo-
rarily interrupted in favour of engine
cooling.
Sensor
The automatic air conditioning inside the passenger compartment makes use of the sunlight sensor, which is located on the dashboard behind the instrument panel.
Take care not to obstruct it.
Water arising from condensation in
the air conditioning is allowed to drain
out through an aperture provided for
this purpose; a pool of water may
thus form beneath the vehicle when
stationary.
You are recommended to have the
air conditioning system checked on
a regular basis (see Maintenance
Guide).
The air conditioning uses energy
from the engine to operate. This re-
sults in extra fuel consumption

Protection cover
HDi 135 and 140 engines
Remove the protection cover by fi r s t u n c l i p p i n g p o i n t 1, then 3 and4 . D e t a c h p o i n t 2 by pulling towards you, then lift.
To reposition the protection cover, attach point 2 fi r s t . L o w e r t h e c o v e r , keeping it centred. Clip points 1 and4, pushing vertically and slightly rearwards. Clip point 3 pushing down vertically.
HDi engines are of a highly technical nature.

Bleeding of water from the diesel f u e l fi l t e r
To be bled on a regular basis (at every oil change).
To evacuate the water, slacken the bleed screw or the water in diesel fuel sensor, which is located at the b a s e o f t h e fi l t e r , u n t i l w a t e r c e a s e s t o fl o w o u t .
Then retighten the bleed screw or the water in diesel fuel sensor.
DIESEL INJECTION EQUIPMENTWear of brake discs, brake pads and brake drums
The rate of wear of the brake pads depends on the use of your vehicle (urban use, frequent stops), and on your style of driving or the type of journey.
For information on checking the discs and drums for wear, contact a CITROËN dealer.
After washing the vehicle, brake progressively to dry out the brake linings.

HDi 90 and 110 engines
D e t a c h t h e p r o t e c t i o n c o v e r t o access the priming pump.
In the event of running out of fuel:
- A f t e r fi l l i n g ( 5 l i t r e s m i n i m u m ) , o p -erate the manual priming pump until some resistance is felt.
- Operate the starter motor while depressing the accelerator pedal slightly until the engine starts.
I f t h e e n g i n e f a i l s t o s t a r t a t t h e fi r s t attempt, wait 15 seconds before try-ing again.
If the engine fails to start after sev-eral attempts, repeat the procedure from the beginning.
When the engine is idling, acceler-ate slightly to complete the bleeding of the circuit.
